Really heartbreaking to see Tash'a's life go down like this.. She's the ONE character who truly had a good heart, was smart, and had ambition. She deserved so much better.

I once imagined a parallel universe where Taystee is the one adopted by Suzanne's adoptive parents... she could've been so happy, definitely wouldn't go to jail.

The story may be told through the lens of Piper, but in my opinion Taystee is the protagonist. Whenever I think of OITNB I think of her...she is the face of it! 🧡
Absolutely! The ending chapter for her was way more emotional for me than piper and Alex. I cried so hard when she tried to end her life, but her and Joe's end together made me feel better lol
I hated Piper, she was the reason I almost stopped watching this show the first time I saw it. Luckily my Friend told me to keep watching and loved the show because of everyone else.

Exactly there where so many times Taystee wanted to give up but Poussey was always there to tell her to never give up and I think that's why Taystee didn't off herself or become bitter and mean like Daya because Taystee made a promise to her friend that she would never give up
Taystee’s mother should have fought harder for her to be apart of her family and live with her. It must have felt like she was being abandoned all over again. I do wonder if she ever met her mother again?

I've heard this theory. Except, Tameka went home to a loving mother and Taystee went home to Vee.
Interesting fact: During season one (Season 1 WAC episode), Taystee talks about how she hates Toddlers and Tiara bc it deals with children being portrayed as adults.
However, from another flashback (Season 5 Episode 6) we get to know that she used to enjoy watching the show and so did her birth mom.
Her dislike might probably stem from her birth mom leaving.

It’s kinda hard watching Tasha’s story play out knowing what happens to her by the end of the show. She just couldn’t catch a damn break. Even her family in prison was broken up.
Yes, but you know what? She couldn't save her life cause she didn't even get a shot, but by being a teacher in jail she probably was gon change other people's life instead. That's why I decided to became a teacher in the first place.

Taystee's story is sad. She was an orphan who had to leave at 18, her mother didn't want anything to do with her so she had to go live with a drug dealer & sell. Taystee didn't have anyone or anywhere to go when she got released from prison so she went back. Later on they gave her a life sentence for something she didn't do. I think that if she had a decent family, home & help she wouldn't have went back to prison
i’m so sad taystee had all these dreams for future careers and a life worth living, but now shes gotta spend life in prison for something didn’t do.
The exact same thing happened with me and my mom as it did with Taystee. My mom doesn’t talk to me cuz she doesn’t want to lose her marriage to an old man

Once I got home, I felt this horrible sadness, didn't know why I felt so sad all the sudden when I got home, I guess that's just when it really registered to me that she was gone. She deserved a better ending she was one of the best characters
Blanca deserved one too if that ICE wasn't built. Her boyfriend Diablo even got fucked over with his green card being expired, so he got sent back to Honduras.
Thank you so much for this! However I'd have ordered some of the flashbacks differently. I would have first put her failed reconnection with the birth mother (after childhood flashback) and then her Vee backstory (if you notice when she's begging for Vee to take her in, she's wearing the same clothes she had on while fighting with her birth mother). Anyway, the ending is so strong: going to New York was a deliberate choice to commit crime again. Like she can't escape it eventually.
Yes, as stated in previous video comments, I try to order them in a timeline as much as possible but I keep the episodes together. If the SHOW put a young memory (1) with an old one (3) in the same episode and then put in a different episode a memory in the middle of them (2), then the order would go 132 instead of the expected 123. I hope this helps!

I always wondered about the timeline with Tasty, before. Now I know. It’s so sad that she was so smart and wonderful, she just wanted a forever family. She tried to resist Vee and dealing drugs her whole life. So I was confused about what finally set her off and made her run to Vee crying and begging to work for her etc. Now I know. It was her messed up birth mom, rejecting her and lying about her to her new husband and daughter. I’m curious what happened to Tasty’s dad though? Because the father of her little sister definitely aren’t the same guy, so, I wonder 💭 Poor Tasty💔
In season 2 it is stated Tasty ran to Vee because her foster father was "pervy".
Tasty story is the reason why I’m definitely adopt in the future when I’m stable and an adult.

I’m confused. Tasty used to LOVE Toddlers & Tiaras. It was her favorite show. Then in prison she HATED that show. Said that she wouldn’t support the sexualization of little girls. I wonder what happened??? I wonder NOW if it’s because of her birth mother. Probably made her think of her after that conversation at the table, every time she saw the show, after that. Vee was an interesting person. It seemed like she genuinely did care for Taystee and everyone. She was not mean to them or anything and she enjoyed their personalities, but she is manipulative by nature to get her way. There really are people like this. Outwardly caring but don't hesitate to let someone go if things don't go their way. You'd think they'd have a heart.

Honestly I hated Tastyee after throwing away all the demands they could’ve had during the riot, but I honestly see how much P meant to her and how genuinely close they were. I knew a woman like Vee.. the sad part is tho, this woman would push you in the right direction and push you away if she knew you could really make something of yourself. She’s dead now tho.
It’s not always based on motivation. Sometimes it can be the education system itself. Tasha didn’t live in a good area, so that probably means the schools were crap. Tasha was very intelligent though. She could’ve definitely made a living doing something in math or science.

Wow just imagine how hurtful it has to be for your real mom to deny you in front of people who should have known about you, like your own little sister. because she “dont know how to handle it yet” and Taystee still had hope. How could you live with yourself as a mother and treat your child like that. I truly believe that not every woman should be a mother. They only know how to be a birth-giver and honestly, thats not even taught lol. Man this show really teaches you how to empathize with people. Her story is so sad.
