I found my baby in a little cardboard box. He was put to sleep 2 years ago this September. Lived the best 18 years of his life with him.

That debut stream and following Collab was an unique experience.
I've noticed a lot of famous internet duos can be kind of weird when they're on their own, especially the "funny one" who suddenly has no one to bounce off of.

If we take EN out of the equation she is, I still remember the day she surpassed Fubuki as the most subscribed in hololive, Fubuki posted a wholesome drawing on Twitter acknowledging her hard work
To be fair it's not like Cover pulls in randos off the street and spends time and money on them without an audition. I don't know about Okayu's past but Korone was part of a vtuber duo for upd8. She had the experience and was friends with someone who would be doing the same thing. That's a solid win for anyone if they can immediately sign up experienced talent with existing rapport.

Oh man, I feel old looking back at Okakoro when they started. I still remember how shy Korone was and Okayu was still a bit reserved.

So, canonically, Subaru is one of the physically strongest beings in Hololive with a feat of defeating an elephant as one of the conditions for entry.
The only downside is we won't get an elephant VTuber now.

Korone's stream income is actually pretty average among the girls, though she did certainly bring in a lot more viewers.

I kinda suspected that both of them were scouted, since hololive wasn't as big as after they joined it, and none of them had mentioned something about why they joined hololive or how they met it.

The functional difference between a scouting and a recommendation is that the recommendation is free and easy.
They (FBK+Mio+Koro+Oka) were all already pre-established content creator/streamers and was familiar/friends prior to Holo so when some of them got in, it was easy for them to recommend others to follow (What Mio referenced in this clip) This is actually the case with a lot of the earlier generations as most of the talents already had pre-existing fan bases/ content base and generally speaking most of these talents were known to each other or had worked with each other previously. Essentially it was like multiple domino effects going off when one or more of them joined.
You know, I did often wonder how Korone and Okayu were lucky enough to both get into hololive at once. I figured that they presented themselves as a "package deal" - "If she doesn't join, I don't join" - but I always assumed that they both had to at least audition first! That's pretty cool that Korone didn't even have to do that! Must've been a really strong recommendation on Okayu's part.

The fact that FubuMio made OkaKoro possible. In other words, FubuMio (mother and father as well as my OTP) created OkaKoro, one of the most iconic OTPs of all time. Wait, that's incest but you get the point! It's almost like the lore writes itself.
Korone and Okayu have been a pair long before Hololive. There was no way that one wasn't going to get in without the other lol

My favorite part about these streams is Mio's hair clipping through Korone.
It is known that there are some members of Hololive that are scouted, such as Coco (who applied to be staff/management, but was made into a talent instead), but yeah it was kind of obvious from Korone's debut that she wasn't one of those who got in because she was confident. How far she's grown up since then, which is amazing.
Coco applying to management makes so much sense, she almost always takes the older sister / manager role during collabs
It's amazing that someone so talented got in without an audition...
