Well Mike‘s death was one of the last Titan Horror deaths we got to see. The last fight against titans in season 4 part 2 really showed how much Paradis has grown, killing the titans with next to no losses.

You know, everyone says Levi is humanity's strongest, but I've always felt it's Erwin. Sure, in an actual fight Levi might win but Erwin beats you without even fighting you and way before you have a chance to do anything about it.

That's not my problem with what he said, my issue there is the use of the word "might" as if Erwin has an actual chance to beat Levi in a one on one fight. Also again when you're up against someone who's just much more overwhelming stronger than you there's not really much you can do. Zeke is considered to be one of the highest characters on intelligence (11/10 on the official stats) and yes he did outsmart Levi, but in the end he couldn't really do much when Levi caught up to him.

But because they were made to protect the king their special abilities are only activated when they feel attached and protective over someone. Like Mikasa’s Ackerman bond was created with Eren when they were kids and he saved her from the slavers, and one started to choke him out and he told her to fight she broke the knife handle and stomped on the floor so hard she broke the floorboard. The fact that miche was Humanity's second strongest soldier without any ackerman genes at his side shows how much talented he was and how much he must've trained to reach that point. I really wish we got to see him atleast till s4 and maybe died cuz he also drank beast titan fluid beer. One thing is for sure that things would've been different if he was around. “Stop it. Take a look around you”. It’s the smallest things like that which make Erwin such a great commander. He sees the bigger picture unlike Levi, and is emotionally more stable. Granted he was older and arguably more mature. That makes him a great commander.
Nobody talked about Mike, the second best humanity’s soldier, I am really not happy of getting to see very little from him, also I didn’t wanted him to die just like that
They had to kill him to protect the plot. Him and Levi would’ve been op. I hate it too but they couldn’t develop mike and Levi without drastically changing the storyline
Just a quick thought, I think many people go through this, or any other series actually not appreciating the mental capabilities of people who are that brave and profecient with lethal weapons. For example, when Erwin charges Levi with his blade 0:22, if you were Erwin that means you are fucking running towards someone who has a knife and you close the distance *without* hesitation, of course you have the advantage with a longer sword, but you have to close in on him regardless and get in his knife-range because you want to disarm, not kill him. You rush forwards and grab his hand in an instant to secure yourself and don't allow him to run away. People who make examples of these fictional characters or analyze them always fail to recognize what it means to actually act like this. Most of us, including me would be incredibly hesitant in a situation like this because of fear of failure and death, we would take the safe route and spar back and fourth. Even with tons of experience and training like Erwin has, it takes a whole another personality and willpower to pull off stunts like that in the real world. For me, when I analyze these seemingly "simple" actions I feel like I am getting closer to understanding what it takes to be "special" like the main and important side characters in this series. You have to be exceptionally brave and extremely confident in your decisions so that you pull off your actions without hesitation and maximum efficiency. I think that applies in the real world as well. If you can control yourself to be brave under ANY pressure and still do whatever YOU think is the right course of action, then you're already special in the eyes of other people. You don't need authority to tell you what to do, and people can depend on you because you can make decisions on the fly and make them work through your will and confidence. Mike might've suggested to Erwin to back off because Levi is too dangerous, AND WE WOULD WAIT FOR THAT FEEDBACK FROM OTHER PEOPLE IN THE REAL WORLD, WHICH BRINGS US TO BEING HESITANT IN THESE LETHAL AND SCARY SITUATIONS, AND BEING UNABLE TO MAKE OUR OWN DECISIONS. But Erwin didn't let a single braincell of his worry about the opinions of other people and projected all his focus into his plan, which is to disarm Levi. I might be terrible at explaining what I think, the point is that 99% of us, and I admit that I am too, we are too hesitant in our daily lives and under-confident in our decisions, we allow other people to manipulate how we feel and think, and wait for feedback to decide on the best course of action. We will never be special that way. This path we're taking is the safe route. Noone is special and important by taking the safe route. Erwin and Levi isn't special because they are under the spotlight, but because they have the capabilities that other people don't. Levi might be ultrastrong because of his Ackerman heritage, but even if you're stuper strong, if you lack bravery and confidence in your decisions, then you're nobody. Mikasa is a somebody because she uses all her brainpower into projecting it into how she uses her strength, she didn't hesitate to use too much gas to take down a titan rushing towards civilians, she didn't hesitate cutting off the head of Bertholdt, she didn't need authority or feedback from others to determine what she will do is the right course of action, she just focused on what she wanted to do and that's it, and we are not like that, we need validation. If you want to be like Erwin, don't just learn how to be manipulative, give good speeches and make good strategies, you yourself have to improve your bravery in the face of death, that character trait then expands all your other skills. Before you were just giving good speeches, now that you can face fear now dare to say "riskier" things and as a result you give SPECIAL speeches, something your soldiers didn't hear from other people because they lacked bravery, and now they follow your lead. Every trait that you can think of and how people react to those traits, it's all a complex system that completes each part. A simple and seemingly meaningless trait that you have could change all the other traits that you have compared to someone without that seemingly meaningless trait. And that also changes how people perceive that specific trait. You can just be a "good leader", but you need to develop traits to become a "Special leader". A special leader is the same as a good leader, except that they're more important and NEEDED in the real world than just your regular good leader. So, to conclude, if you want to be special like Erwin Smith, Levi, Mikasa, Reiner, Kenny.. they're all very different in beliefs and characters, but still indeed important people, even if their beliefs and thoughts could be the same as regular people's, they're very different from the rest because of the following points in my opinion: - No need for external validation, without hesitation they do whatever they think is right - Bravery, they can face death and have control over themselves when they want to achieve something, fear of failure is real, but not letting it control what you do anyways is a big thing - This one goes hand in hand with the first one, but even if you don't listen to external validation, you still need to have confidence in your own capabilities, if you allow any room for doubts, then you can't project 100% of your focus into your actions, which makes you weaker Of course, listening to external feedback sometimes is the right move, you have to recognise when that is the case I think, but in my opinion most of the time it's not the case. We rely way too much on feedback that we ask girls what they like in a men, when in reality traditional women just want you to be a MAN, not these small things that they mention like "Looking back when you're reversing your car" and whatever like "Going 10m/h above speed limit" (These are actual things women said that they like when a man does this), it's all minor things that doesnt even deserve our focus, what matter for them is to be a man, make their lives easier by being able to make decisions, lead the family forward, have a plan, take care of the hard things, make her laugh, it's these BASIC things that we already know, why place such importance on everything else? LACK OF CONFIDENCE, that's what it is. We feel the need to get feedback from everything we do. I am training myself to become self-dependent and become able to make decisions on the fly and believe that I can do them. I don't want to be average. I want to be able to make an impact in other people's lives and become important, but for that I must learn to face death, and have confidence in my abilities without being hesitant waiting for others approval. Also when you think about it, what is others approval to you? Its their opinion which MAY BE WRONG, just as YOU MIGHT BE WRONG when you make a decision. Their approval is just as human as your bold decision, nobody knows the true outcome of things, so why not place all your bets on yourself and grow and learn? I have 100% belief that following these steps will make me become just as special and important as Mike, Reiner and Erwin is in this series. This might be the blueprint you're also looking for, use it if you think I'm right and want to be more than average. ...I just re-read the part when I said - "This one goes hand in hand with the first one, but even if you don't listen to external validation, you still need to have confidence in your own capabilities, if you allow any room for doubts, then you can't project 100% of your focus into your actions, which makes you weaker" - IS EXACTLY WHAT ERWIN TOLD LEVI at the end of this no regrets OVA, if you allow yourself to doubt yourself for even a split second, then other people will take charge over your life. You need 100% conviction in your beliefs to be special, and Erwin told that to Levi because he wanted him to remain special and not fall into the regular soldier's line.

After watching this it make me wonder mike was crazy strong, fighting toe to toe with Levi like that,too bad he died so early, in my opinion the reason why Mike died was because he was shocked to see the hairy looking Titan at first and that too see him talk, he was the first scout to encounter such behavior from Titan, he could have taken out beast Titan himself if he wasn't had idea of buying some time for his comrades to escape, he was just not serious to take down the beast titan back then, Levi could beat beast Titan because scouts had a goal from the start to take beast down and also the had Intel on beast Titans existance thanks to Connie that's why Levi wasn't surprised to see beast Titan for the first time plus Levi was pissed too,finding beast killing all his comrades,that added extra motivation to take the beast down

It goes perfectly well with what he preeches: Never doubt yourself He knew Levi would be able to avoid that slash, and he knew that he himself is fast enough to charge at Levi in time before he is able to cut him and grab his hand. This is what you can accomplish by total trust in your abilities and 0 hesitation.

Erwin leadership skills: He recognized Levi's strength. He made Levi stop fighting him. He persuaded Levi's to join with a deal anyone could take it.

That's not my problem with what he said, my issue there is the use of the word "might" as if Erwin has an actual chance to beat Levi in a one on one fight. Also again when you're up against someone who's just much more overwhelming stronger than you there's not really much you can do. Zeke is considered to be one of the highest characters on intelligence (11/10 on the official stats) and yes he did outsmart Levi, but in the end he couldn't really do much when Levi caught up to him.

But because they were made to protect the king their special abilities are only activated when they feel attached and protective over someone. Like Mikasa’s Ackerman bond was created with Eren when they were kids and he saved her from the slavers, and one started to choke him out and he told her to fight she broke the knife handle and stomped on the floor so hard she broke the floorboard. She even says something like she felt something awaken in her and it shows a red blood cell with some electricity or something

The fact that miche was Humanity's second strongest soldier without any ackerman genes at his side shows how much talented he was and how much he must've trained to reach that point. I really wish we got to see him atleast till s4 and maybe died cuz he also drank beast titan fluid beer. One thing is for sure that things would've been different if he was around. Just a quick thought, I think many people go through this, or any other series actually not appreciating the mental capabilities of people who are that brave and profecient with lethal weapons.
For example, when Erwin charges Levi with his blade 0:22, if you were Erwin that means you are fucking running towards someone who has a knife and you close the distance *without* hesitation, of course you have the advantage with a longer sword, but you have to close in on him regardless and get in his knife-range because you want to disarm, not kill him. You rush forwards and grab his hand in an instant to secure yourself and don't allow him to run away. People who make examples of these fictional characters or analyze them always fail to recognize what it means to actually act like this. Most of us, including me would be incredibly hesitant in a situation like this because of fear of failure and death, we would take the safe route and spar back and fourth. Even with tons of experience and training like Erwin has, it takes a whole another personality and willpower to pull off stunts like that in the real world. For me, when I analyze these seemingly "simple" actions I feel like I am getting closer to understanding what it takes to be "special" like the main and important side characters in this series. You have to be exceptionally brave and extremely confident in your decisions so that you pull off your actions without hesitation and maximum efficiency. I think that applies in the real world as well. If you can control yourself to be brave under ANY pressure and still do whatever YOU think is the right course of action, then you're already special in the eyes of other people. You don't need authority to tell you what to do, and people can depend on you because you can make decisions on the fly and make them work through your will and confidence.
Mike might've suggested to Erwin to back off because Levi is too dangerous, AND WE WOULD WAIT FOR THAT FEEDBACK FROM OTHER PEOPLE IN THE REAL WORLD, WHICH BRINGS US TO BEING HESITANT IN THESE LETHAL AND SCARY SITUATIONS, AND BEING UNABLE TO MAKE OUR OWN DECISIONS. But Erwin didn't let a single braincell of his worry about the opinions of other people and projected all his focus into his plan, which is to disarm Levi. I might be terrible at explaining what I think, the point is that 99% of us, and I admit that I am too, we are too hesitant in our daily lives and under-confident in our decisions, we allow other people to manipulate how we feel and think, and wait for feedback to decide on the best course of action. We will never be special that way. This path we're taking is the safe route. Noone is special and important by taking the safe route. Erwin and Levi isn't special because they are under the spotlight, but because they have the capabilities that other people don't. Levi might be ultrastrong because of his Ackerman heritage, but even if you're stuper strong, if you lack bravery and confidence in your decisions, then you're nobody. Mikasa is a somebody because she uses all her brainpower into projecting it into how she uses her strength, she didn't hesitate to use too much gas to take down a titan rushing towards civilians, she didn't hesitate cutting off the head of Bertholdt, she didn't need authority or feedback from others to determine what she will do is the right course of action, she just focused on what she wanted to do and that's it, and we are not like that, we need validation. If you want to be like Erwin, don't just learn how to be manipulative, give good speeches and make good strategies, you yourself have to improve your bravery in the face of death, that character trait then expands all your other skills. Before you were just giving good speeches, now that you can face fear now dare to say "riskier" things and as a result you give SPECIAL speeches, something your soldiers didn't hear from other people because they lacked bravery, and now they follow your lead.
Every trait that you can think of and how people react to those traits, it's all a complex system that completes each part. A simple and seemingly meaningless trait that you have could change all the other traits that you have compared to someone without that seemingly meaningless trait. And that also changes how people perceive that specific trait. You can just be a "good leader", but you need to develop traits to become a "Special leader". A special leader is the same as a good leader, except that they're more important and NEEDED in the real world than just your regular good leader.
So, to conclude, if you want to be special like Erwin Smith, Levi, Mikasa, Reiner, Kenny.. they're all very different in beliefs and characters, but still indeed important people, even if their beliefs and thoughts could be the same as regular people's, they're very different from the rest because of the following points in my opinion:
- No need for external validation, without hesitation they do whatever they think is right
- Bravery, they can face death and have control over themselves when they want to achieve something, fear of failure is real, but not letting it control what you do anyways is a big thing
- This one goes hand in hand with the first one, but even if you don't listen to external validation, you still need to have confidence in your own capabilities, if you allow any room for doubts, then you can't project 100% of your focus into your actions, which makes you weaker
Of course, listening to external feedback sometimes is the right move, you have to recognise when that is the case I think, but in my opinion most of the time it's not the case. We rely way too much on feedback that we ask girls what they like in a men, when in reality traditional women just want you to be a MAN, not these small things that they mention like "Looking back when you're reversing your car" and whatever like "Going 10m/h above speed limit" (These are actual things women said that they like when a man does this), it's all minor things that doesnt even deserve our focus, what matter for them is to be a man, make their lives easier by being able to make decisions, lead the family forward, have a plan, take care of the hard things, make her laugh, it's these BASIC things that we already know, why place such importance on everything else? LACK OF CONFIDENCE, that's what it is. We feel the need to get feedback from everything we do.
I am training myself to become self-dependent and become able to make decisions on the fly and believe that I can do them. I don't want to be average. I want to be able to make an impact in other people's lives and become important, but for that I must learn to face death, and have confidence in my abilities without being hesitant waiting for others approval. Also when you think about it, what is others approval to you? Its their opinion which MAY BE WRONG, just as YOU MIGHT BE WRONG when you make a decision. Their approval is just as human as your bold decision, nobody knows the true outcome of things, so why not place all your bets on yourself and grow and learn?
I have 100% belief that following these steps will make me become just as special and important as Mike, Reiner and Erwin is in this series. This might be the blueprint you're also looking for, use it if you think I'm right and want to be more than average.

You need 100% conviction in your beliefs to be special, and Erwin told that to Levi because he wanted him to remain special and not fall into the regular soldier's line.
