Malformations of cortical development are an important cause of neurodevelopmental delay and pediatric epilepsy. In this video (part 1/2) we'll talk about the development of the normal cerebral cortex, the classification of cortical malformations based on the stage of cortex formation, and the imaging appearance of the following MCD's: microcephaly, hemimegalencephaly, focal cortical dysplasia (FCD), lissencephaly, band heterotopia.
