      @@WhatWeDrivein my opinion First. The ground lighting under the vehicle is considered an option. You almost make it sound as if it is included as part of the basic Infiniti package or this is something special. Nissan offers this as an option in most cars. 2nd. The top screen was really designed for NAV. This is optional in most trims, but yes, this is a clock when the NAV is not purchased. I would have explained this further in the video to insure the average buyer understands. Thank you for posting this video.

    Returning to this video even though I just purchased a 2015 Bigger brother (Q70L. Good review objective and fact based. Good narrative of what you like and dislike.
    Taillights look good but I am old school and personally would prefer the contrasting color rear turn signal (Amber).
    For the touch screen, do yourself a favor. Get a screen protector. They may make it for this specific vehicle or possibly get a trim to fit universal screen protector. I have been using them for about eight years and they work.
    The center console layout is nice and fairly well thought out ergonomic wise. With the exception of the Display controllers note there are no buttons. This is nice in that there is no risk of accidental activation of a potentially critical system.......(Parking Brake, Engine Start, etc....)
    The Driving dynamics selection switch is a lever which requires a thought out and deliberate hand motion.
    This may seem trivial but I like the engine start button. Black button which blends into the instrument panel better. Some older models and not just Infiniti but all manufacturers the plain white although effective looks somewhat cheap.

    I actually went to drive a 2016 Q50 3.0t today, because I was looking to buy it. I felt all the exact same things that you said about the car, the engine is amazing and gave plenty of power, but the interior was a let down...and my biggest problem was that steering feel. It felt disconnected and lifeless. I drove it back to back with a Lexus IS200t and it was a day and night difference. The Lexus was so responsive and handled amazingly, but lacked power. Fair review. Infotainment is definitely not a selling point on this car but the engine is fantastic. A point of clarification since you referred to the leather interior several times: while it is a very comfortable interior I believe the model you drove is actually equipped with full vinyl seating. It’s pretty nice vinyl, but fake leather nonetheless. You have to step up in trim to get actual cowhides and even then it still has some vinyl in areas like the back and sides of the seats; even the headrests. Then again, maybe we’re now calling everything leather if it looks and feels like leather. I’m an owner of a fully loaded 2018 Q50 Red Sport AWD so I’m well acquainted with the cars flaws but overall it’s a fun car that I really enjoy driving, which is also a good thing since they depreciate faster than a bag full of dog poo.

    This or a Maserati Ghibli?

    • @WhatWeDrive
      @WhatWeDrive  Před 5 lety +7

      Great question! At $40k, you can get a new Infinity Q50 or a used Maserati Ghibli. I personally think that I would still pick the Infinity over the Maserati because of the lower maintenance cost and factory warranty. Yes, the Q50 is a bit slower than the Ghibli, and the Ghibli has a more attractive front end and a better sounding V6, but for reliability and economic concerns, I would pretty much go for a new car every time. However, if you only want to drive the car for a very short period of time (like less than a year) and resell it, I would go for the Ghibli since long-term maintenance and repair won't be too much a concern and a new Q50 will take a bigger depreciation.
      Ok, what if money, maintenance, repair, warranties aren't decision-making factors at all? If I am to pick one over the other solely based on the drive, I would actually choose the Ghibli because it handles better than the Q50 (relatively speaking) and the stronger sound gives it more advantage. But if you are someone who's looking for luxury and comfort, then I have to tell you that the Q50 is truly more comfortable than the Ghibli. The seats and leather are wonderful.

      I just paid about $580 for brakes (rotors and pads) and $80 for a synthetic oil/filter change on my 2016 q50. I knew the guy but u shouldn't have to pay too much more than that. $200 of the brake job was labor. Hope I answered your question sir

    You should have reviewed a sport model with the performance package.
    You reviewed what's essentially a base model turd. The poors buy these models and then complain about all the missing things.
    No infotainment system is particularly good, especially the navigation. The only times it's usable is if you use the nav under the places around me thing or whatever it's called. Then, it's actually okay enough. Direct input is a complete waste of time.
    Sport and red sport models are far better than people realize or give credit for. Again, the real problem is the wanna be baller on a budget mouth breathers who buy the base model cars and then whine about what it's missing. These nerds are easy to identify, just look for all the stupid glowing Alibaba junk and cheap shitty taped on carbon fiber trash hanging off of it.
