    In this Flight Talk, Product Developer Ali Machinchy demonstrates the amazing capability of his latest creation, the OV-10 Bronco.
    For the giant-scale warbird enthusiast and experienced pilot, the new Hangar 9® OV-10 Bronco is our largest giant-scale warbird to date. It features many scale details and the incredible flight performance Hangar 9 customers expect. As a unique subject, the OV-10 Bronco features many scale details such as highly detailed satin-finish printed covering and ultra-scale accessories including pilot, cockpit details and sidewinder missiles. The fully painted fiberglass cowlings feature added weathering for scale realism. Featuring a 108-inch wingspan, this model represents giant scale flying, yet is practical enough to fly every day. The three-piece plug-in wing with center section landing gear support allows for easy transportation and field assembly. Designed to accept 30 - 35cc gasoline engines as well as electric power, the complete hardware kit is included and makes mounting the power system quick and easy. Like the full-size warbird, the scale undercarriage legs are sprung for shock absorption and made from high grade aluminum, taking most of the bounce out of tough terrain. Available separately, the required electric retract set with shock-absorbing scale struts provides additional scale realism. The Hangar 9 OV-10 30cc is a matchless model delivering the flight experience of a versatile twin-engine aircraft.
    Distinctive Subject Matter
    The Hangar 9 OV-10 Bronco is historically accurate and the most unique model in our line of giant scale warbirds. This giant-scale Hangar 9 replica is every bit the stunner its full-scale inspiration is.
    Large 108" Wingspan
    At an impressive 108" wingspan, the OV-10 Bronco is one of the largest warbirds ever manufactured for an incredible giant-scale experience with adventure-driven capability.
    Lightweight Construction
    Laser-cut, lightweight balsa and plywood construction is utilized to bring the OV-10 Bronco to life as a durable scale model that's expertly built to exacting standards.
    Power It The Way You Want It
    The OV-10 can be flown with many different size and power output electric systems. It is designed to accept popular 2-stroke and 4-stroke gasoline engines as well as high-end brushless electric motors and batteries for impressive power and flight duration. The huge center fuselage makes it possible to fit almost any battery combination. All hardware for the recommended power system options is included so assembly is easy and so you can get in the air faster.
    Exquisite Scale Details
    This OV-10 Bronco features impressive details including finely detailed satin-finish printed covering with panel lines, rivets, and weathering, a painted pilot figure, and 3D instrument panel. There are six ready to fit operational gear doors. Plus, removable cannons, scale sidewinder missiles with detachable wing pylons, and a center line external fuel tank with detachable mount.
    Optional Hangar 9 Retracts
    The recommended Hangar 9 electric retract system includes shock-absorbing struts, feature all-metal durability and are an easy installation that lets you take in-flight scale realism to a higher level.

    I want this Classic! The aircraft was initially conceived in the early 1960s through an informal collaboration between WH Beckett and Colonel KP Rice, U.S. Marine Corps, who met at Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, California, and who also happened to live near each other. The original concept was for a rugged, simple, close air support aircraft integrated with forward ground operations. At the time, the U.S. Army was still experimenting with armed helicopters, and the U.S. Air Force was not interested in close air support.
    The concept aircraft was to operate from expedient forward air bases using roads as runways. Speed was to be from very slow to medium subsonic, with much longer loiter times than a pure jet. 🇺🇸👍🏽🇺🇸👍🏽

    It does have a amazing flight characteristics and it looks like it has enough power to pull out of a stall. It is a very lazy slow roll but I'd like to kick in a little down elevator on the top to make it more axle. But of course I'm curious to see how it will handle in it difficult crosswind. What Electric propellers were you using again?

      Thanks Victor. We have done a bunch of crosswind testing. Also at the Top Gun scale event, it flew in a reasonable crosswind a bunch. It has great rudder authority. So the limiting factor really is the pilots thumbs I guess.. Props were Falcon 20x10 Ep's from Bobs Hobbys down in Florida.

    With electrics or gas are both engines turning the same direction? or can the motors be counter rotating? Does it matter if we use DA35 motors turning the same direction?

    • @alimachinchy7673
      @alimachinchy7673 Před 3 lety

      I have flown 4 different power systems on Development models and none of them had counter rotating props. I have seen no need.

    • @markdavis7397
      @markdavis7397 Před 2 lety

      Right thrust angle is built into the firewall, so....it would be hard to use counter-rotating. For a large twin with tricycle gear, I don't think you would notice the difference. Look at the take-off on this video - he pretty much puts the pedal to the metal right away, and no issues. I have also noticed no leftward pulling on takeoff. I don't take off short like that, but I don't even have to think about it...no noticeable pulling at all.

      @@MrMadtractor I am guessing that you are referring to when Horizon Hobby bought out the remains of the bankrupt Hobbico? If thats thats the case. Then yes. HH did cut a bunch of products, and they also kept a bunch of products. The only reason why they were cut was if they were not selling. It was a business decision and not done to upset the modelers. Or in many cases. The vendors who were making the products were left in a situation where they could not longer continue to supply. If the product was selling and the vendor who made them for Hobbico was willing and able to continue supplying. Then HH carried on with said item. Pure and simple. Regardless to the Hobbico by out. Hangar 9 has been releasing a steady stream of 3-4 models per year over the past 5 years. Ranging from 10cc sport flyers. To 200cc capable scale Giants. I am pretty sure somewhere in the past 5 years we have made a model for most peoples tastes? If not yours. Then I apologise.

    Mine is substantially slower than this. Ali didn't mention the prop, but I'm using 18x10 (one 12s with Rimfire 1.7). I just ordered some 18x12. I think he must be using x12 or thereabouts to get this kind of speed.

  • @theprinceofliberia6793

    Airplane itself is not total function of speed. Install 3 blade, smaller diameter higher picth props and it will be much much faster but wont climb great. Also rc airplane commnities keep makimg same mistake of of installing the engine size that is recommended by manufacturer. I've been installing .95 os engines on .40 size airplane. Many many times. My buddy has old p38 that recommends two .70s. I told him to install two 1.20s. Flies great and climbs insane. You can easy install 2 50cc but you'll have to fly it a bit faster especially on landing. I plan on buying this bronco next winter and I will install 2 50cc engines and I will be the 1st Polak to claim the glory for the highest performance bronco baby. That's right
