Elizabeth, who originally started her career in finance, embarked on a transformative path after spending two years in the vibrant city of Hong Kong. Captivated by its culture and allure, she transitioned into the world of art, working at a gallery. Upon returning to the United States, her husband's thoughtful gesture led her to pursue her true passion - interior design.
As an interior designer, Elizabeth views her home as a canvas for experimentation and creativity. I have watched many Homeworthy videos and this is by far, in my humble opinion, the very best. No fluff here just down to earth and the hostess did not bore the viewers with every little thing in a room. She hit the high spots and I wanted the video to continue on when it was over. I will be watching again and again to take it all in. I know the entire home was not filmed but would have loved to see the rest. Her color and mix is wonderful...her style is her. This home was lovely and so was the hostess. Her warmth was so evident in her continued interaction with the family dog but also in the way she spoke of including all her parents and grandparents collections. Her appreciation of incorporating the cultures of her travels in paintings, fabrics and more personal collections was all evident in the furnishings and wallpapers which added layers of warmth. Loved it, loved the hostess, loved the dog!
Her gentle petting the adorable doggo 🐕 just told volumes about her sweet and kind nature…and her home reflects her acceptance of various cultures and her adaptable and caring attitude towards life 🏡💝

Georgian colonials are some of my favorite types of homes, and this home did not disappoint. What I particularly love is how cozy the rooms feel despite the large size of the overall house. You never feel like you are in the home of someone whose kids are grown. No wonder her children would rather stay at home for Christmas instead of travel. I would too😊
Such a lovely, interesting home! She is definitely beloved by her dog😉🙂 I thought it was funny when she shared how her children didn’t want to travel on Christmas and preferred to be at home. We offered our children a trip for Christmas years ago. We were going to update passports and it would be a surprise destination....the response was shocking....a resounding “no way”......one of our sons said “ no way you’d probably just take us to museums anyway!😂

This made me feel at home, having grown up nearby and having lived in Newton Center and Brookline as a young adult. I love that Elizabeth incorporated so many elements of her family's world travels in her decor. Too many homes today have a cookie cutter sameness devoid of personal touches. This was the perfect mix of sophistication, homeyness, and unique art.

I'm a Boston-area native (Medford) and remember that when I was 13 my dentist lived in Chestnut Hill. I wondered whether Elizabeth Benedict was a designer from the start considering how well done the house is. It's not easy to put a lot of color and pattern together and make it look attractive and not too busy. I can't do it. I love the kitchen and the sunroom most of all. I'd have my coffee in the sunroom every morning if I lived there. Merry Christmas!

Finally! Someone who uses good old fashioned Christmas stockings, in, dare I say it…Red! All the grey, stone, ice blue and white-only Christmas decor becomes tirelessly trendy.

It doesn’t get better than this !! I remember seeing the host’s decoupage lamp in a home decor shop in the 1980s and trying to decide where it would fit in my house .
I adore all her passed down collections. Every thing was interesting and one of a kind . Her decor brings one home at Christmas, no trends , no themes , just lovely memories.

Just a lovely home in every way and reflects a life well lived and well travelled! Just to mention: a center hall table does not have to be round. It can be a table that is long, oval but proportional to the hall itself. Just a thought ! I, too, have preserved boxwood and it always looks fabulous --- really low maintenance! I love the way Elizabeth incorporates so many family elements into her home. There are things everywhere and it all comes together so well. This was such an inspiration to me because I have so many things that I love, and have always thought it made my home seem cluttered if I displayed everything all at the same time. At last! A home I can identify with. Lovely inviting decor. We are traditional Central Lakes Region New Hampshire. This charming hostess did a wonderful job over the years to bring the bones of this house together. The rooms invite you to sit and enjoy the space. It looks like a home, well loved and lived in.
The home is gorgeous, outside and inside. I especially like how the kitchen and dining room were opened to each other and how the enlarged space still looks cozy. I like Elizabeth's style for her home. Love Woody, the cute doggie.
