      What's often left out... is the reason France was there to begin with was because Mexico defaulted on debt. England and Spain negotiated, but France did not. Funny how we celebrate a military underdog that was a cop-out for not paying their bills.

      Actually, the French used the pretext of debt collection to position themselves to aid the US confederacy in the American Civil War. The debt had been accrued on account of colonialism, so it hardly puts Mexico in a criminal position.

    I'm actually in peubla right now and I went threw the newly discovered tunnels that the Mexican army used to sneak in and attack the French but also to carry cargo around, interestingly enough they still need to dig 3 miles more

    I was embarrassed for the guy saying Pueblo instead of Puebla while is was written correctly. People I know make the same mistake, but they aren't familiar or reporting on it. Love Puebla ❤ always glad that I had the opportunity to live there for almost a year.

    In Mexico we don’t celebrate Cinco De Mayo it’s just a normal day here and in Puebla I think they celebrate that day because the battle was there or I guess.

    Its not celebrated at all in Mexico, except maybe some tourist bars in border cities. Why? Because after this battle was won against the French, the French came back and took over Mexico and owned it.

    WRONG! The U.S. celebrated because that was during the civil war were the northern states were in war against the southern states here in the U.S. so the U.S were weak at the time so On May 5, 1862, the Mexican army defeated the French in the Battle of Puebla. This prevented French Emperor Napoleon III from supplying weapons to the Confederacy during the Civil War. In other words the French weren’t able to come in to the US at the weakest time for the US. Things Could’ve gone really bad if they did.
