This was by far the best explanation for a beginner I found in about five different attempts! Thank you.

excellent tutorial but at point 8:31, why can't the number one be placed at row 9 column 7?

I was confused too but I figured it out. Just focus on the middle 3x3 grid at the bottom, it has 3 empty cells to start with and we know it must end up with a 1 somewhere in order for all 3x3 grids to have all numbers 1-9. The 1 can't go in any of the bottom as there's already a 4,7,9 there. It can't be in the middle as over to the left we see a 1 (middle row, left collumn of bottome left 3x3). That leaves only one place for the 1 to go, exactly where he put it.

what is the strategy of where the number is placed when you have no numbers in a column or row?

Do the columns and rows with numbers first. Eventually, the boxes in the empty row or column will be filled in.

You don’t need to know math to solve sudoku puzzles just need to be good at logical thinking and have good problem solving skills to complete the puzzles
