Your bf4 optimization back in the day and settings became my default on all battlefields. You also got me onto Freethy which I thank you for. I haven't even played 2042 yet. Got a nice new PC build arriving any day now so I'l be using your settings for sure. They've always worked wonders in the past for a decent amount of extra frames when I couldn't afford new hardwar, which is all i care about on PC Especially for online fps games. Oh and just to clarify for anybody else who may read this.
Uniform Soldier Aiming with Coefficient setting at 0% instead of %133 is a must and 100% makes you better at aiming.

An alternative control scheme for players that are used to WASD or joystick flying controls:
W pitch down, S pitch up;
A and D roll;
Mouse yaw and pitch (rifle aim);
Space throttle up +afterburner, Shift throttle down/airbrakes.
This scheme has carried me from bf4 to 2042, as well as Warthunder and Squad. All of the aircraft's rotations are controlled with the 3 fingers on wasd, so its very intuitive to learn and create smooth maneuvers like you would with a joystick. I'd recommend new pilots try it out!
Be aware that you might have to fuck around with inverted controls and then switching key and mouse bindings to get things to work correctly, so definitely hop in a portal server first.

I'll check this out because my roll sens keeps going from 0 to 100. I either have to swipe my mouse across my damn house to roll or I sneeze and barrel into the sun

@@pav1ui dont know if this answers your question, but silk mentioned he plays with a DPI of 1600 and this makes the rifle aim easier (because it should be faster). I hope this helps
Theres no reason to run Texrture filtering on low. Anisotropic flitering should always be set to 16x aka Ultra. cleans up the image without any real FPS hit. The game looks much better if effects are turned up as well with HBAO on and lighting. running on low feels unnessary since the last update.
I dont know why but on my pc setting texture filtering and aniso filtering from medium to ultra reduces my fps by 30 to 40.

I'm surprised DICE haven't just straight up removed the Future Frame Rendering setting as that only worked on DX11 in previous titles (it was just their menu naming for Pre-Rendered Frames/Render Ahead command). It has no effect in DX12.
I've found that I can get away with running higher texture and texture filtering settings with no loss to performance due to having a lot of VRAM, so if you want things to look a little better you can do that.

This video changed my life. Just picked the game up and was doing well but now I’m running 100 fps and the game feels so good.
I’m still getting used to the chipper controls. I consider myself a pretty good pilot but this makes hitting infantry with the mini gun so easy. Just need to rewire my brain in oh shit moments.

Great guide. For those who wonder why that specific range of FOV: Battlefield's FOV is Vertical FOV, so 74 BF FOV is like the classic 90 FOV on CoD or whatever. On older BF games, the setting would tell you what was going to be in horizontal FOV.. so that's why you shouldn't go lower than 74 and higher than 98. 120 vertical fov is HELL
68 vertical fov is 100 horizontal.
74 vertical is 106 horizontal.
78 vertical is 110 horizontal.
@@jb8478 It also depends on your aspect ratio, but no, 74 vertical is 90 for 16:9. In battlefield 4 you can actually see both values in the slider

Nvidia Reflex + Boost does not cap your GPU usage.
The boost part forces your GPU to use max clocks all the time so it won't downclock when not being used much to save power. It basically does the same thing as "prefer maximum performance" in the Nvidia control panel. This can lead to better overall performance and smoothness but will give higher temps on the GPU but not by much.

@@eillswim I am not talking about Reflex, I was talking about the "Boost" part of Reflex+Boost.
The boost just forces max GPU clocks and turns off any c-states the GPU uses to save power.
Reflex takes over the swap chain of the game, allowing the driver to take control of how finised frames are displayed to the monitor and how to organise the frame que more efficiently using the reflex API, reducing latency.
This is why a lot of people don't bother using the reflex+boost and just use reflex on its own to save power.

I have the same type of color blindness, I did a test and it seems that either the red/green colorblindness does something with yellow because I found in many of the tests I'm less sensitive to red/green and more senetive to yellows, so to me enemies are also always yellow.
Now the Deuteranomaly colorblind mode in Battlefield 4 (that I'm just recently getting into), has the squad color a similar color to the yellowish enemy colors, that's bloody stupid.
This game allows you to set everything yourself and this is the solution, because everyone is a little different, and on some maps you want something else.
Having set modes for colorblindness is silly, since the experience of color is a subjective experience measured through instruments that are not human eyes when we try to define an objective definition.
We can't accurately translate what we see to "oh that's 230 nanometer wavelength" no we can't so let people tweak it themselves.

Just played a few hours on default and was only getting 60-70 fps. After your recommendations and applying another guys cfg I'm getting 120+ and that "uniform soldier aiming coefficient to 0%" part is night and day for my aim. I can actually hit targets now...

Dude, I’ve never played these games on a PC, but I can’t get over how much more aim control you get from a mouse, it is so hard to aim like that on a controller
yeah, i was used to warzone's aim assist, this game is way less agressive with it
Future frame rendering increases input lag by design. Keep that off and use dlss instead to gain some fps. Also low graphical settings will affect visibility in especially long range.
How do you more the kill feed from top right to bottom left?

What's your source for fullscreen having less input lag? That used to be the case in older versions of windows, but in newer versions of 10 and 11 borderless fullscreen is the preferred way to play as it has been optimized to have the same input lag as fullscreen from my understanding (and thats how it feels).
Yeah with the new optimized way of using the flip model it should be similar unless there is a issue specially with the game.
depends on what is on your desktop, if you use borderless fullscreen and use a fcking 4K 60 fps movie as wallpaper that shit will also be loaded the entire time, looking at all those weird weebs with their half naked anime bitch as background.
If you have a basic bg and your desktop isnt over filled with shit there shouldnt be much of an inpact, but there is one should be minor tho, but noticeable at least for my part

Idk why people complain about higher CPU load, its literally what improves performance. They made the game take better use of your CPU, which is why so many, including me have had serious FPS improvements, i earned about 40+ frames after the update

Only reason to complain about higher CPU load if you're being bottlenecked due to the changes. If your CPU bottlenecking you, the changes could have made it much worse.

Good settings but for me personally on rtx3070, I have textures set to ultra, texture filter on high, nvidia image scaling sharpening to 40% in the nvidia control panel. Lose 2 fps with this setup but the visibility is SUPREME.
Interesting. I might trial some different settings for vis but with a 3080Ti on 1440p I don't actually have much GPU headroom
@@SilkOCE I used to play in low @1440p but found it was too blurry at long ranges. Those setting I used fixes that with hardly any performance drop. Just try it, you probably lose 1fps :)

what are you running. copied all the settings and running a 3080ti 5800x and custom settings with most high to very high and get 120ish fps and with your settings get 235-140 not sure how your getting 168 fps

gonna try and see if this work. im playing with Ryzen 7 2700X - Radeon Rx580 Nitro+ 16GB RAM and there are moments where my game goes to 10-20 fps or something. only game its happening at :/

Change in my documents/bf2042/profsafeprof(opened with notepad), then find under render and change value from 1 to 0 ..enlighten to 0, shadow quality both setings to 0, dx12 set to 1, and significant quality set to 0...you will lower graphic quality by little,not much,but this config will give you great boost and you would be able to play it without tearing

If you have a 144Hz monitor, put that lock on 142/143 FPS. It's better for muscle memory. I'll issue 200 FPS as useless, you have to wait for the server response anyway.
if i turn the DLSS on i got like 35 more fps...but the image its a bit blur even if i go for quality why is that?

Anyone know why my game has a blurryness to it mainly a little further out in the distance? Thought it might of been dlss but with dlss quality on or dlss off completely it’s still blurry. I play with the game maxed out at 1080p but can’t figure out how to get rid of the blur.
Play on low settings. You can also play around with sharpening filter in Nvidia control panel. It's set to 50% by default and i bumped it up to 60% and it looks way sharper.

AA post processing iirc, toggling to high helped. In older Battlefield games, we could shut it off completely.
Unsure, but might be possible to shut it off in 2042 via Nvidia or settings config.

Updates may sometimes re enable DLSS or dynamic resolution, so make sure thats disabled
Also make sure RTX is off cause that sometimes resets too if ur gpu supports it
For me 1080p is noticeably blurry compared to 1440

I personally just can't play without at least high Texture Filtering and High AA because If I play at lowest settings there are literally several cm big squares around the edges, on top of that the games seems to be rendered in 480p. I don't know what kind of fucked up spaghetti code Dice released in this installment but even with all settings Ultra without DLSS or any upscaling the game looks like it is rendered in 720p and then upscaled to 1080p. Very frustrating

some people need to understand, that depending on your computer and the game, running graphics on Low can actually make the game run worse. On my 1650, ive noticed that i get better on 2042 with medium graphics than i do with low.
Interesting how you can't see enemies' red names on green backgrounds but choose to have a red crosshair
The reason for that is every other colour was giving me weird hitmarker colours in heli. I want purple ideally

I can not believe you aren't using DLSS. I keep DLSS on balanced. Game still looks good and I get a HUGE FPS boost. Using a 13600k with a 3070 and it pushes me to about 165fps. If I put DLSS on performance the game starts to look worse but I get over 200 FPS...

If you are having the issue where you click on that field and it says Mouse 5 then it's because the game thinks your mouse is a controller. Go to your Documents and delete your Battlefield2042 folder and go into your recycle bin and click Restore. That'll fix it right away. I know it sounds weird but it does fix it and nothing is lost.
Why would you turn off DLSS if you are looking for higher frame rates?
I find it to be distracting and when I tested it there was no gains

I’m sure you’ve already figured it out, but just in case. You won’t get vehicles in TDM. Get on Conquest or Breakthrough.

I was glad when I found out the stealth jet handled identically to bf3 in bf4. Never got why they changed that in newer games.
There's no way the jets in 2042 feel the same as BF3/4. They genuintely feel awful in 2042. I've flown a lot of different aircraft in different games and 2042 is by far the worst. The flight model is just genuinely awful.
@@aidenduffin1528 when was the last time you played? The flight model was awful and the controls were almost unresponsive at times and I would rubberband everywhere, but recently it looks like they’ve fixed it and Jets are actually useable now
@@MindSag I played yesterday. It's not a ping/fps/connection thing. The flight model is just genuinely terrible.
Feels like I'm drifting a plane not flying it. When I pull up and let go the nose pulls back down automatically. Makes it nearly impossible to aim.
@@MindSag the only times I've ever rubberbanded in the jet in BF is if I was on wifi. Sometimes cuz of enemy jet playing out of their server region.
@@aidenduffin1528 maybe you prefer flight assist on, without it the heli does that.
But with flight assist on it becomes hard to aim cuz it always centers, this sucks in heli when doing runs. The jet is not meant to fly low but the f-35 can while hovering, the jets are not equal here. Gravity pulls f-35 but not the other jet, that's what i noticed from my experience 😊

The highest FPS I have is in non combat and its 16 FPS, the highest FPS I got in combat is 6 FPS. And its very clear for me that enemys are nerby because my FPS drop and I when I aim I have 2 FPS.
