Maccao is my favorite of the pack leader bird wyverns. While he's still easy, you actually need brain and skill to fight him effectively. As someone who started with 4U, I wonder what fighting Great Maccao is like for first timers, because I can imagine him easily kicking ass
@@HeavyWings I feel like they wanted a more intelligent monster to start with being that GU expects more from you as a hunter with such a huge roster of monsters and places to explore (especially with the different styles). Either way the best starter monster hands down and the best way to experiment with the different styles!
Still waiting for Great Jaggi's triumphant return. Totally wasn't devastated when it didn't make it into Rise while Great Wroggi and Great Baggi did...
I think Great Izuchi is the best bird wyvern/raptor in Rise. They’re all pretty much pushovers but Izuchi is the most fun to fight and I like how he uses his tail to attack. It’s also kinda cool how the mini izuchi perform the same attacks as great Izuchi in a choreographed manner. Much better tutorial monster than great jagras which is pretty much just a big punching bag
Honestly a video combining all the "pack leader" bird wyverns is a pretty good concept on its own Also fun fact! Great Izuchi is the only Great whose Japanese name doesn't use "dosu". It's called "Osaizuchi", with "osa" meaning something akin to "mob boss".
Well, that's a nice update? I wasn't looking forward to an Alatreon video, but making it into one of my favourite monster species video's was a big plus. My favourite Bird Wyvern that was featured in this video must be Great Baggi, as he's original with his Sleep Status and still only gives the player yellow damage numbers. My favourite raptor Bird Wyvern however is Tzi-Tzi Ya-Ku as he depicts my favourite Dinosaur the Dilophosaurus, which spiked sales of Frill-Necked Lizards after it's only appearance in a Jurassic Park movie.
When it comes to the Drome Raptor pack leaders one way to improve their fight for a future game would maybe to give them some of the movesets of their Hardcore versions along with that aerial recovery ability they had in Frontier. Except maybe for the crazy spitting attacks for Gendrome and Velocidrome at least. 4U did great in improving their fights. Their pinning attacks could be devasting at the start of the game with early game gear with their subordinates adding extra damage. It made them feel threating in a natural animalistic way. I also wouldn't mind if they gave Velociodrome and Gendrome Bleed Status in higher ranks on account they have sickle claws. They should only have a chance to inflict it though. It could also be menacing if the subordinates could hold you down as well like the Wulgs when in the presence of their leader. Maybe they should also let the subordinate pack members have the ability to enrage as well when their leader enrages like with the Blango when in the presence of a Blangonga.
After watching the video I forgot it was intended to talk about Alatreon, lol Great Wroggi is my favorite of them. There is an ASMR satisfaction to hearing it cough its poison (which is my favorite status ailment in the game), love its gear, and it's a nice twist on Great Jaggi. It was also the one to complete the trio back in P3rd, a game I did enjoy a lot. I like Great Maccao but its animations look very busy and hyperactive to me. Feels like it fights on drugs.
Great Maccao was my first ever large monster fought. So of course he has a special place in my heart. His fight was so awesome and it didn't feel like a tutorial monster. I learned a lot from it.
i didnt realize this was a april fools joke until i got to the end pf the vid and realized this wasnt a video about alatreon i feel so slow lol that was a great joke on us
I like having a distinction between the kind of spindly more raptorial dromes and the more robust theropod like greats. It's like the difference between a velociraptor and a utahraptor
I was doing my chores when I let this video plays. "Velocidrome?" I thought. "Oh maybe it's a new format where he will address Alatreon's eventually. Clickbait thingy. Don't matter tho." So I finished my chores and ready to get some cool Alatreon info, just to be confused that there's no Alatreon in the video at all. Then I realised the date
From MH3U (or MH4U?) onwards, "raptors" disengage and watch from afar when you are fighting a large monster (except if said large monster is their alpha) instead of ganging up on you. As a result, they fell more like annoyances when you are gathering instead of somethings which can genuinely ruin your day. If someone wants to know the true terror of the raptors, just play MHFU and enjoy when a Genprey paralyzes you just as a furious Black Diablos is tunneling at you.
honeslty, i dont consider this video an april fool joke, i was expecting something for the bird raptorian wyverns such as great jaggi and maccao, appreciated the video and im waiting for an alatreon video just like you did with fatalis. (though there are other raptorian bird wyverns such as kuluyaku e tzitziyaku and there is an entire different category of flying bird wyverns with qurupeco.... (9:25) if jaggi trains you for deviljho, qurupeco calls him right after. it's like a school meme: we teach you to do 3+4, now do [square root of ln(sin(π/2))] for those that want to try, the answer is simplier than what you would expect, just like deviljho once you learn the pattern
As a tri kid myself. I love the Jaggie the most. Mostly because he taught me how to play back then. I wasn't good at action games because my reflexes are trash, but fighting him over and over again, gave me the ability to recognise patterns in movesets, which allowed me to come up with workflow to beat any other monster from there. (Also showed me that I always need a weapon which can block, because I can't time a dodge to save my life... litterly) I know it sounds dumb, but I couldn't have the same experiance if tri would've had the gendrome or something like that as the starting monster (the earlier raptors are just way too fast for a beginner if you ask me).
He's leader of the Bunch, you know him well! Edit: Izuchi's first mates get hp scaled in anomaly quest, so they actually become a threat if you level his quest up ridiculously. A dung pod is an actual consideration to deal with them, if they didn't respawn so fast.
I miss the great Jaggi. he's a good bro. my favourite 'first' monster. when we got the quest describing fighting alongside a great jaggi to hunt a pink rathian I was super excited... then super dissapointed to find out it was just hunt both. I wanted a jaggipal XD I'll also admit, despite having put hundreds of hours into both rise and sunbreak... I legitimatly did not know Great Izuchi times attacks with two specific smaller ones. maybe its just my playstyle, but I can swear I've never seen that attack also I definatly prefer the newer naming trend. drome is a weird word, and at the end of some names just sounds forced, while Great instead gives them a feeling of power, even if they are begginer monsters
The Izuchi thing is something Capcom pointed out when they first showed him in the Rise reveal presentation. It's partly why I was disappointed because I expected it to play a much bigger role in the fight, but 9 times out of then you can ignore it.
Out of all the raptor bird wyvern,my favorite would be a tie with 3 monsters. Great wroggi Great izuchi Great maccao All 3 of these have fights that i enjoy. Not a big fan of the others honestly,i despise all of the dromes and great jaggi and great baggi is ok for the most part

let out an audible "NO!" when i saw gendrome & giadrome in the lowest tier... guess my gen 2 bias is showing 😩 i always thought giaprey was spelt "glap" and it weirded me out when I finally realised I was wrong
weirdly enough, The Izuchi gimmick only feels satisfying once you fight Afflicted Izuchi. Finally the little guys hit hard enough and last long enough to have at least some impact on the fight. It's beyond weird that they only made this gimmick have any impact with the Afflicted version and it almost feels unintentional
Isn't Kulu-ya-ku considered a bird wyvern? Not because he literally looks like a bird, but nails the raptor body and behavior. Similar case to Tzitzi Yaku but without the bird head situation. I find them interesting. More intelligent raptors that can utilize unique weapons, at the cost of no minions. A tier
I feel like Luty already told you but Giapreys originally come as “White velocipreys” back in Gen 1 with Freedom (or MHG but I’m not sure) and can appear within velocipreys. Later they had their own pack hence the giapreys
I think a raptor that follows the same footsteps as Yian Garuga would be cool. You go in expecting to fight what looks like yet another early game raptor only to be in for a big surprise.
i´d like to mention the pack control downgrade that great jaggi had from p3rd and onwarts. in Tri we had to deal with way more Jaggis and Jaggia at the same time

This is surprisingly one of the better joke videos I've seen, as in it's not a joke, it just has a fake thumbnail. Good entry into the series.
