Yes, I agree, we should've talked to more of the inhabitants. We did get out and talked to the caretaker of salvation mountain. We were so shocked by the condition of this place, but, looking back, we wished we would've talked to more people there..there we're not many people at all outside much when we drove through.
@TransportBandits yeah I was shocked when I first went there by the amount of trash and some of the people look pretty scary to approach but I wasn't a lone but we talked to a few people and their stories were very interesting and you have to remember it's a homeless camp and a place of lost souls with for the most part no other choice but to stay a figure out how to Carve out a place for themselves in the middle of nowhere after the real world has turned their backs on them you would have found it a lot better if there had been more exploring but I do enjoy your travels and the things we get to see 👀 on your trips peace ✌️ 😊 and enjoy your Adventures

Actually, Jeff had heard about it somewhere.. but, I was blown away by it all...and, to see it in person was way worse than the video relates. Just crazy!
So, I had to do a little reading on this place, and the first statement i read, “even the police tend to avoid it”. Very interesting to read about. 640 acres of state land occupied by squatters, sounds like the politicians in DC.

Apparently there are well rated Air B&B’s you can rent there. Incredible. I had never heard of it so looked it up, have watched one documentary on it and 2 videos like this…. easily the most depressing thing I’ve seen this year. What a sad sight, people just throwing their shit (literally) wherever they want to! There are 3 military bases all around it and they frequently fire rounds & bombs from helicopters & fighter planes into the surrounding mountains… maybe clear everyone out of there and start bombing the hell out of this place until it’s all incinerated. Let nature reclaim it and hopefully it’ll clean it up. People there call it “freedom”, but it’s really a prison without walls, the residents are kept there by drug or alcohol addictions, or because they’re wanted by police outside of there. Either way, it’s definitely a prison and not anything remotely resembling freedom!
Imagine what archeologists will say when they’re digging on this place 1000 years from now⁉️ They’ll be wondering how & why people had to live like this. 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️👍🏼☮️

I don't know where to start. Did you deliver an RV there? I doubt it. I sure as heck hope you did not pick one up there. None of those would make it to the highway. Sad. I have been to third world countries that looked better. I have been to landfills with less trash. It is nice that people like Ron seems to enjoy living here. Goes to show that there is a place for everyone. It makes me thankful for what I have and my living conditions.

I love your disclaimer, and I 100% agree with your opinion. It cost absolutely zero money to pick up after yourself, so the fact that they are just dumping their refuge all over the place really pisses me off as well. Most, not all but most, of the refuse seen in this video that you and @TransportBandits assume is lazily and/or uncaringly dumped by people living in Slab City is actually dumped and lazily left there by tourists visiting or locals who are too irresponsible to rid of their refuse properly. Do your homework and research the facts before speaking untruths and spreading rumors.

Most recently people in the neighboring town of Calipatria were paying an individual to haul their trash out to Slab Mart as well as onto the Bureau of Land Management lands. He was apprehended after being video taped and arrested.
Or how about the visitors who stayed along Telephone Road who, rather than pack out what they packed in, left between 20-30 gallon jugs filled with urine strewn about.
The list goes on. I did not say none of the trash was the result of Slabbers, I stated that it is not solely them but also dumped by visitors and locals.
I've lived in this area for 10 years, 4 of which were in Slab City; I've done my research.
You live in a country that is about to collapse so yes there are 43 million homeless people in the USA and this will more than likely will be you one day too. Figure it out already it's called reality. I'm sure your think that won't happen in the USA while it's happening everywhere even in Alaska.
