    Sharmadean is so switched on it’s intimidating in the best possible way! I’m ashamed I didn’t know of her before these two videos but lest anyone think the beauty industry is frivolous, they need five minutes of listening to this woman speak. I am in awe of her! Thanks for introducing us Sali!

    Great to finally see some POC in this series. She has such a great mixture of products.

    • @soilgrasswaterair
      @soilgrasswaterair Před 5 lety +1

      Not Madonna they had to *really* work on it, they said some months back they heard the critique (lack of poc) and wanted to try to find people. Didn’t know Britain had such shortage of poc 😂🙃 *I really like the series, but that response had me cackling!*

    • @notmadonna1445
      @notmadonna1445 Před 5 lety +1

      @@soilgrasswaterair hahaha that's crazy. I like the series too, but there's only so many rich white women I can watch. I loved the range this woman had. From high end to lower end to just raw ingredients. This was so much more interesting. Even with the cringe "There's something retro about hair gel" moment and awkward chemistry.

    • @soilgrasswaterair
      @soilgrasswaterair Před 5 lety +1

      Not Madonna I personally had no issues with the other women on the series, I found plenty of episodes very lovely, informative and also fun. I certainly don’t mind the rich white Bella Freud- wearing clique of London women in their 40s-50s, I find them genuinly witty, cleaver and many of them rather inspiring. I’m glad the runners of the channel heard the wish from the viewers and met it. Diversity is only a positive, and there’s more room for it. I do understand they want to keep the content at a certain level, and if we’re totally honest diversity at the top amongst succesful profiles aren’t really that common in most societies, so I have to be fair in regards of as to why it took them a while to strike up some names which would broaden the diversity. I suppose my previous lol-ing/mildly snarky comment had its roots in their initial response that came off as looking feverishly with a flashlight in every corner without any success. *Side-note* I’m impressed with the interviewer she has a way of connecting with the ones she’s interviewing, the way she’s moving it forward to keep it interesting, but she’s a good listener. A brilliant navigator!*

      @@soilgrasswaterair I think its more the UK has a shortage of rich black women in general in comparison to other places like America. Its generally wealthier women who's bathrooms they're in. Buts its harder to move brackets in the UK so that limits the number. Also then you're looking at specifically a certain type of skincare/ beauty and it'll be even harder to find many in that field to be fair. I recently found out theres like only a handful of black female lecturers at universities, so I guess it is something you have to dig for since the channel has a certain aesthetic to it? However I do think it is out there especially if you make certain compromises by interviewing more slightly lesser known women in fields like this

      Yes, when she said that I laughed to myself... black women in cold climates know we had better find some type of oil to slather on our skin. So universal, lol.

    Hate hearing the term ‘crackhead’ - super derogatory. Especially during a time when women suffering from human trafficking are forced on to drugs like crack and opioids so as to enslave them and make escape near impossible. If you want to be ‘civic’ you should remember society is made up of the fortunate and the less fortunate - they’re both important.
