Being a Brightonian, born and bred, there's a few extra things I can tell you.
We do have a sandy portion of the beach but you have to wait untill low tide to get to it.
The North Laine is the name given to the fields to the north of the old fishing village.
On you way through Pavilion Gardens, the building to your left is the Brighton Dome and Corn Exchange. This used to be the Prince Regent's stables and riding school. It now houses the Brighton Museum, a concert auditorium and an exhibition space. The Dome is also the concert auditorium where ABBA won the Eurovision song contest in 1974 with their song Waterloo.
If you're on the Palace Pier, not Brighton Pier, locals have never called it Brighton Pier, in the late afternoon in the winter, you can see mumerations of Starlings. There are thousands of birds coming to roost under the pier. The sight is incredible as is the sound.
Just a few of the things that you can see around my home city.
And there's nothing like the sound a shingle beach makes during rough weather.
I think the second clue on the Treasure Hunt was probably the huge mural of dead pop stars on the side of th Prince Albert pub. You actually have it on your video at 4:56.
Spot on mate. I think they were so intrigued by their new surroundings, that they forgot to look up.
I've watched a documentary on the royal pavilion you were looking at,
It was built as a holiday home for the king,
During the first world war it was used as a hospital for injured troops from India ( part of the British empire back then)
Actually there are many many beaches along the West Coast that are made of pebbles/rocks.
You didnt find the person next to Prince because you went past the pub on the corner with the huge mural of dead celebrites
Prince Albert
I love the way you call Brighton Beach 'rocks' we call them pebbles here in the UK.
I-I call them rocks. I thought that pebbles were small rocks. The ones in Brighton are MASSIVE
Don’t get many bloggers that visit close to where i live in Worthing.....Brighton rock
There's a reason for that...
I left in 88
If you are looking for things to do in East Sussex, you MUST get to Rye. Its thirty miles east of Brighton and dead easy to get to. If you want to know more, give me a shout.
You guys are so cute I love the way manage to murder the English language! lol
Americans always manage to murder the English language, so we have to forgive them lol
They done worse. They arrived in a guesthouse and Ashley was openmouthed over the books on display. They are quite funny really,
@@stevencassidy6982 "They done worse?" Nice grammar. "They did worse." Who's murdering English again?

my nephew lives in Brighton, we go to visit Brighton when we come to see my husband 's sister in Southend. You are wandering around the old part of Brifhton; The Lanes.
House numbers are usually even numbers on one side and odd on other.
I have to say that I had a not too quiet chuckle when I checked out Jodi’s channel and one of the first things she filmed was the huge mural showing various pop stars. How did you miss it?
'Trafalgar' is a significant part of British History
Trafalgar is a coastal area of Spain near where the British Navy won a battle against the French and Spanish Navys in 1805
My favourite game on the pier is the dolphin race. Probably closed during Autumn (weekdays certainly) but its quite fun. Brighton in summer is amazing. It is also unfortunately very crowded because the good weather attracts thousands of people, but I do recommend a visit if you are back here one summer
Hi, thanks for the vid. Just Google, "Inside Brighton Pavillion " and you'll find loads of colourful inside pics.
So glad you loved Brighton, I spent a lot of my childhood there. Going to the piers (back when there were two) was always a highlight. I don’t know if you can show them on your channel but there are many pictures of the Pavilion interior on Google. Have you been to Portsmouth? A visit to the Historic Dock Yard is well worth the money; you can see HMS Victory, Nelson’s Flag Ship at the battle of Trafalgar and the oldest commissioned war ship in the world as well as other historic navy ships and the Mary Rose. You can also travel by hovercraft to the Isle of Wight - come on when else are you going to get to travel by hovercraft?
I was conceived under the old pier lol
Great vlog as usual keep up the great work
I live close to Brighton in a place called eastbourne. I hope you enjoyed it x
The toy museum is a gem, much bigger than you might think. Recomend.
"Bright-on" your day ...good one Josh! Though you may be stealing Ash's thunder lol. Like the throwback vibes of that arcade
Traflinger street hahaha. I was waiting so impatiently for you guys to stop talking so I could correct you 😅
Same!!!!
cheeky coffee, love it
You should definitely have gone into the pavilion and museum. It's gorgeous
This is awesome! 😀 Cool video!
I did the Bath treasure trail with a friend and despite living in the city I learnt a lot and saw lots of great details I’d missed previously. It was only £6 so maybe the same company. I think we only failed on one clue out of about 20. Good way to see a city!!
Loved watching your reaction to a British pebble beach.
Really liked this vlog. Seen a few other traveler vlogs on Brighton, but yours was unique & I feel like I got to know the town outside of its “hot spots” that everyone else goes to & has vlogged.
Sometimes they do make those beaches or extend what's already there to protect the buildings and road and infrastructure or in the bad weather it will cost a lot to repair.
One day a year, Brighton pavilion is free to visit. You'll have to find out on their website for when that day is. So if you come back make sure you don't miss this day.
Josh works for snacks and coffee, good to know. You may not have found a lot of the places on that app, but at least you got some exercise in the fresh air. Thanks for introducing me to another awesome channel, I am now subscribed to Jodi :-)
Pebble beaches are quite common in England.
So beautiful, we cant wait to sail there!
So pleaded you enjoyed my beautiful city!! 👍🏼
yup st James street bet he you enjoyed .thks for the upload
If you are in Brighton, head down to Beechy head, it has got great views!
Even though the treasure hunt didnt go as planned, I still think it was a success. Great video, and I believe you've added another city to my TBV (to be visited) list.
Do not miss to look around in ‘snooper’s paradise’. It’s awesome!
I think we did! 😊
The pub "Prince Albert" has a Muriel with Prince and George best etc on the side wall... and a banksy of the kissing policemen 😉
Please come back to Brighton, I'LL SHOW YOU AROUND!!!!
Ah geez...a ‘cheeky’ coffee? Maybe y’all were in the UK a little too long 😉 haha, that app, although outdated, is a neat idea we gotta check our if other cities have them as well!
You guys are sooo nice, love watching your videos, great idea with the treasure hunt, wouldnt have thought of that ever 😁. Love that you are so naturals, nothing seems fake with you 🙂
Well yes, Trafalgar isn't English, it's Hispanicized Arabic. taraf al-gharb "Western Cape".
Most pebble beaches are along the south coast of England. Most other beaches in the UK are sand.
The "Brighton" joke at the end was fantastic! May I recommend other parts of SW England while you are there? I promise you will not regret seeing Wells, Glastonbury and the entire Mendip area (not far from Cheddar where you've been). Also, Lands End/Roger Wilkins Cider Farm is a MUST (Google him)! I promise, you will be absolutely smitten! Sincerely, Shelley, Portland, Oregon, USA, Channel Follower and England Frequenter:)
I moved to Brighton from the north seven years ago.....think I'm the only one living here that can't wait to move back up north #getmeoutofhere
Lucie McAdams Don’t blame you, it’s a horrible, dirty dump of a place and full of weirdos!
If you want good beaches in the UK, you need to head to The Gower in Wales, but you only want to go in Summer.
Check out Birmingham? Cool time of year to visit!!
I think you missed the guidance of the Beans in this one! Ashley, what do you think sandy beaches were before they became sand?
Yeah - the beaches in the SE of England are very geologically young. It's pre-sand!
I've lived all my life in Brighton & Hove.
Of course this doesn't let you exit selling mistakes! Brighton!
You walked past my fave pub the white rabbit i was willing you to go in!
This is so funny watching this as someone who lives in Brighton
Trafalgar comes from the battle of trafalgar btw
And we definitely do odd numbers on one side and even numbers on the other! If there’s less buildings it’s probably more random
If you visit the UK, don't be ripped off by going into places like Brighton Pavilion. Plenty of freebee places to visit and see. If it looks expensive keep clear!
You can get cheaper tickets for the Pavilion if you book online, it’s well worth a visit. Most of the items inside it are actually owned by the Queen which is why you can’t take photos or film inside unfortunately.
When I visited you could take photos as long as you didn't use flash.
Brighton is one of my favorite places! Been there several times! ❤❤❤ I also took a couple of rocks home with me as a momento ❤ Everytime I stood next to those slot machine money always dropped out next to me every time even when I didn't put anything in them too! So funny! 😆
I’m here early ... nice vlog 👍
Hi guys, really like your videos. No one seems to come to Southend on sea it's just east of London and has the longest pleasure pier in the world. I'm from Southend myself you guys should check it out!.
I recognized Oliver's Brighton immediately at 5:05, then got really excited when you zoomed in on the sign, then YOU PASSED IT! 😱 Heartbreaking, but I get that not everyone is a HP fan.
I like that they have walking streets, as well, and that everything is a bit quirky. It's like an English New Orleans.
We did actually go in just didn’t film it :p
@@WAYAWAYWithAsh Ooohhh! Jealous! Isn't it such a magical place?! He's done such a wonderful job with it. I'm so happy you guys got to take a quick stop inside.
Another cool UK video ! Are you going to Cambridge or Oxford soon ? And what about Northern Germany, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Romania ?
You guys are from the Puget sound area near Seattle right? There are tons of pebble beaches there
That alley thing you walked down is so freaky at night.
Brighton is a great place full of bandits 😂 but this a great place, always something new to see.
So you almost found the Banksy piece. Look at 4:56, that pub is the Prince Albert. It has a mural of famous dead artists (the apps prince clue), and also the original Banksy of two policemen kissing.
Actually, it's not the original Banksy, it's a replica. The original was painted on that pub, however the original was sold to a US buyer."
We have a few natural pebble beaches here in the UK
Ahh I would have stopped in to La Choza hoping to find churros. Pretty much will stop anyplace that has them in the world!
Brighton is where the Who mod movie Quadrophenia was filmed & my cousin starred in it.
The busses in the museum looked almost same as the public transport busses in Mumbai, probably because the company was started by the British
I live in Brighton and you passed right by my house around on the video 😂
You can’t go to Brighton and not visit the pavilion it’s absolutely amazing!!
All the way to Brighton and you didn’t mention the nudist section of the beach !
You really need to experience it in the summertime.
Gloucester is pronounced "Gloss-ter"
8:00 Thats how they pronounced it.
As anyone from Massachusetts can tell you.
@@chubbygreyhound1198 They're still saying "glaow-ster" though.
or Gross-ster. lmao
English 101
Leicester is pronounced "Lester"
The county of Leicestershire is "Lester-shuh" not Lie-sester-shy-er
Warwick is "Worrick" not War Wick
With the county of Warwickshire being "Worrick-shuh" not War-Wick-Shy-Er
Similarly, Worcester is "Wuster" and the county is "Wuster-shuh" not War-sester-shy-er
Brighton Rocks! I think it was the Australian comedian Paul Hogan who jokingly thanked the English for laying pebbles on their beaches to make it easier for tourists to walk on them.
I would have been a bit miffed if I'd paid for an app that was seemingly outdated! Brighton seems like an awesome place. I'm very big on seaside towns anyway, having been born in one! (Torquay in Devon) Looking forward to more from Brighton!
Not as nice as Torquay. Used to go on holiday there when i was younger.
@@f3aok Torquay is beautiful! I'd love to see what Josh and Ashley think of it!
Torquay? Nice?........We Devonians call it 'Birmingham on Sea!'
@@keithclements5148 Hahahah!
Next time your in Liverpool visit formby beach and woods, last place in uk for the native red squirrels and the beach are sand
Not seen any in Formby for years. There's more red squirrels in Scotland, Ireland and the isle of wight
@@limpfishyes and in Northumbria. Kielder Forest is full of them!
David Barton I seen a few last week, must be last place in England not uk
Glad you liked my home city and you found Bailey the pub cat....He has his own Instagram account 😆
What I had no idea that’s awesome!
I've lived in Brighton for the last 8 years so if you come back and ill give you a tour.. i explore a lot of Brighton and the more unusual parts that tourists don't always get to see
I'm watching this thinking I'd met Jodi somewhere before until I realized I follow her CZcams channel. Enjoyed the video.
Haha, nice!
Should have gone to Southend we have the longest pier in the world and trains take you to the end
Brighton looks cute. You didn't link Jodis channel in the description !?
It in the popup!
Press the i button at the top of the video.
I live in Brighton . It’s fun and quirky. It’s better in the summer and we do a great gay pride here
Brighton!! seaside... Nah! Now Weston-super-mere is a seaside destination. The Victorians loved it.
Does Jodi live in 'Hove Actually?'.
Hey it's Jodi! It's a small world 🙂
When’s your next q&a
Come visit Manchester 😁🇬🇧
What is jodie’s channel? Cant see a link in the description
It's called Jodi's Expat life.
I live in Brighton!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have u been to Devon and the south west coast
I believe they did Somerset. :)
We call them pebbles not rocks!!!!!!!!☺️
Best couple ever 😉 wish you to visit Tunisia
Surely the purple house was Prince..and Gloucester is pronounced Glosster
Try walking bare foot on the rocks in the summer at the beach
Do you not know what Trafalgar is? Gawd :)
The lady they are with (Jodie?) looks like someone from an American TV Sitcom, but I can't quite place it.
She was on international House Hunters , maybe that’s it?
I am being treated for Wayaway addiction :p
🙏
Brighton is very very naughty too, in a good way. if you need a tour guide , let me know
when you go to brighton at november
How can 'Trafalgar' possibly pose a problem?
Watch out for the wicked SEAGULS....
Brighton is cool tho
You went past the wall graphetti by pup when you left tunnel
So frustrating watching you get lost as I’m from the area 😂😅
