No one can say you have not done your homework. I am a fan of sci fi films and 20th century movies in general especially from the 1930's to the late 1950's. You have brought forth some really interesting historical movies & plots that never seemed to go out of vogue to the hollywood writers, directors & producers. I never realized that Will Rogers made all those movies. I just assumed he was famous for being famous and his ability to stand up in front of a crowd while getting witty & keeping their attention riveted.
The comment on how audiences didnt seem ready or comfortable with sci fi is interesting. I have a story to share when you cover The Shape Of Things To Come from my Grandmother. But essentially a sense that people would lose their place in all the technology.

Whooops. Dracula was actually the first of the Universal Horror films. It preceded Frankenstein by almost a year. LOVE this series though... thank you for producing it!
Another great video in this brilliant series! One remark: the photo at 29:30 is not from F.W. Murnau’s “Nosferatu” (1922) with Max Schreck in the title role. It shows Klaus Kinski as Nosferatu in the remake made by director Werner Herzog in 1979. But please go on with your otherwise good work! Can’t wait for the next episode!

I'm looking forward to when you cover the serials of the later 30's. (Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon) Back then, a kid could spend a Saturday afternoon with cartoons, a serial and double feature with a box of popcorn and a soda for 15¢. Problem was not many kids had 15¢.
The studios made the serials with no budget. Re-used sets, same music. They were awesome! I can only imagine being a kid in the late 30's waiting for the next installment. Must have been like watching Star Wars once a week for 15 minutes at a time.

It wasn't quite the same as seeing installments of the old serials, it was instead completely different films, but with the same kind of idea -- get the kids out of the house for a few hours for just a few bucks. I can't even remember what all we saw, but I do remember seeing the original theatrical release of Battlestar Galactica (including its original theatrical ending with Baltar losing his head), and some other stuff such as the dog movie Benji. We had a good time going to those, but I can see how the added thrill of seeing chapters of serialized Batman, Superman, Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon stories would have been more exciting!

Connecticut Yankee is a charming film. I watched it for the first time for this video and quite enjoyed it.

The music of the 1980s turned out so much better than what they imagined in 1930. Love that decade.
May I suggest making some sort of counter for nominations and awards at the Oscars to track How much representation The genre gets over the years
