Can I just say how much I appreciate you show "what we're going to make" at the very start of the video, so annoying to have to scroll around tutorial vids just to know what the end result we're going for is
The 6th thing you need is inhuman amounts of thc
😂😂😂
That’s always needed :-)
Basically is the only condition I can satisfy.
😂
saw them in LA and that was my first time ever seeing someone chainsmoke joints like they were cigarettes
I remember well this era in Detroit's tastes, like it was yesterday. The days of Griswold, Bankle Building, Hastings, Broadway, Eastown Theatre (In my tiny picture here. Kraftwerk first played there in 1975, while it was called Showcase Theater. After that, James Brown played it 10 nights in a row. Non-stop sex, drugs, and music, there in the adjoining apartments, until they had to make him leave.) The Fire House, The Shelter, Motor Lounge, the Bridge Space..so many great places while this flavor was being spun by MANY DJ's around the D, and actually made by a bunch of us. Robert's passion for years was this stuff. I'm lucky to have attended most of the greatest parties around Detroit, many also in Chicago, and other parts of the Midwest, where the music was HARD AF, all through the 1990's!
It's sorta like updated mid-90's Hard House yeah? I dig it, love the sound
The rumble makes it more early 00s techno for me. Most Hard House I heard (UK) was fast (hard NRG) so other opinions may vary :)
I've been on a FJAAK binge since watching their Street Parade 2022 set on CZcams. Ramping up to make my own music and you release this gem!
Thank you Oscar!
The Rave Generator VST from Wavosaur comes in super handy for pulling out classic ravey stabs. It literally has every single rave stab you could want.
i was curious so i d/led and installed it and you absolutely rocked my world. This is the plugin I've waited all my life for! and it's FREE!
And have some old school breaks handy
it sometimes crashes my fl studio on mac m2 but its worth risking, cant find these sounds anywhere else lol
Engineering your own stabs is more fun IMO. The samples from Rave Generator, despite how good they sound, were already in use of thousands of producers for few years. Better use it creatively, otherwise you're trapping your music in cliches.
@@B1SCOOP I don't disagree and i have way more fun creating my own stabs, having done this since at least 1992. it's definitely great fun to layer my own stabs with some of the ones in RG tho, and have a subtle nod to some of the greatest rave tunes from back in the day
i see people do these all the time, but this is next level really crazy how you got the low end and vibe to match perfectly
Such a good teacher! Oscar, thank you for sharing your passion. May your gift grow into new depths of exploration and excitement.
FJAAK was so fun at Parookaville 2022, got hooked a bit after that 😅
Excellent! ‘The ability to explain in an easily understandable way marks a great teacher’
Great video, it's been a while since I enjoy techno. Understanding how its working is increasing the pleasure!
Amazing video as always!!!!! This groove was the best one I have seen you make so far!!!!!!!
Your reference track has been my favorite for the last year. Love it!
As always you are incredible at explaining music & concepts. Well done with this one Oscar
as always great!
Can't wait to watch this in detail
Loved this video. Thanks bud.
It's a Banger Oscar
I think this is one of the best tutorials you did imo! Dank u :)
You are an amazing teacher!! Thank you for this vídeo, I am a FJAAK lover 😊❤
You are an excellent teacher, I’ve been a fan of the work on this channel!!
Amazing video! As a visual learner and being new to the arts, I love these in-depth breakdowns
I know nothing about producing music, but man do I love your channel!!! I have definetly enjoyed listening electronic music and also thought about creating some stuff that i randomly make in my mind. Mybe stumbling across your channel is a sign I start!!!
Omg, I have been waiting so long your new video! 😊
Another amazing video! I love your stuff man ✌️
Excellent 🙌
echoing many comments in my appreciation. your teaching is superb, your video production is snappy, and your presence and charisma are excellent. thank you oscar!😊
so simple, yet very usable. and it sounds great.
Love your work Oscar!
Thanks this really helped
so good thank you
Thank you for sharing your in-depth knowledge.
This is a such a good Techno tutorial. On point!
Masterclass! Thank you!
Oscar, appreciated so much this video, thanks a lot
I appreciate the section about LUFS and what's appropriate for the genre _so much_. It's hard to find mixing/mastering advice on CZcams that is oriented toward music like this or other underground dance music, and a lot of the conventions from other genres really aren't great for it.
PLEASE keep making videos like this
I messaged them on Twitter one time and they sent me an unreleased track. great dudes
Best and most inspiring CZcams video I've seen in ages. I'm going to integrate this 'formula' into my live set workflow using my Octatrack + Modular rig
Update: It's been going well! Played a few live shows with this formula/set up. Replaying this video to see if I missed anything ;)
Thanks, great lesson, gave me lots of ideas.
Muy Bueno!!! Muchas Gracias!!!
This video really hit the spot!
Cheers my man,simpl&easy to understand
Attack is a classic, that song single handedly got me into modern techno.
I saw fjaak live last month and it was absolutely incredible
Cool, did they do much different live than a DJ set of their tracks? Did they live remix etc?
Thank you, Master.
Another excellent video Oscar, thanks.
Funny, I was reminded of the classic banger, Access by dj misjah & dj tim just yesterday and it has all these elements, what a tune :)
Cheers bud
Thanks
leerzaam en erg plezierig om naar te kijken. top!
Also purchasing a jomox greatly helps
❤❤brilliant video, was waiting for you to unravel that sub-genre. 🙏🙏🤘🤘
Superb! First 5 seconds into the video and you've got me! What a Sound! New Sub!
This is an awesome video 🤘🤙
I like your version better than the original
I love your videos. I haven't yet gotten into using Ableton or any other daw. But I use your tips in my modular patching. Of course it doesn't always translate well, but it provides a nice starting point.
First time in this channel, have to gave the like just in the beginning
Thanks Oscar great content as usual. Off to try this out now. There's also a video they did for NI showing them using Maschine which is worth a watch if you have it.
this channel is great
GREAT!!!!
-6 and a half LUFS?! This is madness, and yet that track absolutely bangs. My mind is blown.
great video😎
bedankt voor de moeite is heel nuittig dit
Awesome outcome Oscar...imo better then the reference.. exactly what i like (to make) and yes i never reach that -6 Lufs
is not close enough is BETTER!! grate job master!
great job sir :D
hey !! I like your positve Power !! Thanx
Some love ❤❤❤❤
FJAAK are my biggest influence for sure. Had to figure all this out the hard way, haha.
"Here's what we're gonna make"
Here's how I subscribe
Anyone else have an Underdog OneNote/Evernote scrapbook with all notes from tutorials and these rumble chains and cookbook screenshots saved down or that just me 🤣🤣🤣🤣
FJAAK does their music absolutely differently...hardware stuff.. but this is defo a good vid for some newbies to get a point +
dat kick
Nice to hear some early 90's influence hardened up a bit. If you listen to DJ Dick - Weekend and SL2 - DJ's Take control, you'll see where I'm coming from. The early 90's rave was definitely about 'functional highs' 🙂
Minus Six LUFFFFFFFS?!? Jejejeje all of my tracks are slammed to death like that. When you said that I thought of that scene in Trainspotting when he’s like “SIX WEEKS!!?” IYKYK
awesome video!!
as you said. it depends on what kind of track is to be made. but for example my tracks are made completely from scratch. there is no "reference track" :D and lots of dynamic range :)
finally!!!
Tip: Grab Hocket-2 M4L device..... It's free and cool!!! 👍👍👍
good one Oscar !
Really loved the old fjaak ... magic trio messing with hardware on stage ❤️
some love again 😅
this channel is some good shit, thank you
Daaaamn he is gooood :)
Nice :)
"In my acceptance era"
legend
Hey Oscar you always teach stuff in easier words. Can we have hardgroove style like Marcal for your next video??
Hello! When referencing a track in Ableton, do you keep all faders for the track at 0db? My question is was the Fjaak track hitting at 6.5 LUFs with the fader at 0?
If would be very very interesting if you could make a tutorial about how fjaak more in details. They have a lot of tracks to inspire a tutorial more constructive. the rumble is not bad but I find that it does not equalize the monstrous fjaak kicks. But thank you for this interesting tutorial mate
I liked the first kick/rumble better. :-)
Great vid ! What is a name of stab's oldschool lib ? Sound cool
Master Oscar. Hey Salutations; in the topic of rumbles, Can I use the same structure / chain of FX in other DAW?
What is the name of the sample cd you used for the rave stab? Sounds amazing man!
i think all the mid range percussion comes in and out at the same time as they often use breakbeat samples
🕺
SLAM also -6 -7 LUFS :)
The resulting track is better than the originals, without losing its essence. Congratulations! The kick is from ARTIST KICKS simple pack?
How do you get such like big open massive kicks, mine always sound like a bit flat/closed if that makes sense
Hey nice Video, can you make a cookbook with typical KiNK. This were be interesting
Did u make the first track?.... Clip Sounds Greeeaaaaat
