3:04 I love the use of “surrender” because it’s like your heart is fighting so hard to not fall for that person but your feelings are so strong for them that all the walls you tried so hard to keep up start falling down. And you’re finally accepting it and letting them into your heart.

End of March 2024. Just know this song from my 15yrs old daughter and i suddenly feel so magical while listening this song during my night long family trip. Thx for this superb song, The 1975. ❤ From Solo city, Indonesia
Well matty is islamophobia , he cancelled the indonesia tour after he left malaysia with rage fuelled madhate! Lucky Malaysian audience didn't go run amok on him and the band. There's that
This song makes me reminisce, back to when I was 18. I am 46 now and I constantly think how fast time flies. If you have a dream or passion, then go for it. Life is short!
find out what your passion is!@@filmingfilms. when you are young you have the time to try things, play an instrument, or sing, or write a story or learn how to play a sport or shoot pool or play ping pong, just try things! You don't know what you do and don't like yet. I envy you and your time to do things. I'm at the end of my life and have nothing but regrets. Don't have regrets, have awesome memories of doing things with the people you love.
ikr? also this lyric feels so related to what taylor says too, go listen to what taylor says in new ttpt album, "imaginary rings!" which makes so much sense they really did get married in their heads!
If this song is indeed about Taylor Swift (high probability), she has just responded: "We've already done it in my head" (Guilty As Sin). And had the wedding in But Daddy I Love Him.
this just sounds and feels so full circle. like here we still are after all these years. the whole album feels like that imo. it feels like self titled/iliwys but the 2022 version. it feels like coming home. so comforting
That's what music and film always seems to forget in the last few years, way back when, many years ago there were happy endings to films and bands kept their core sound when evolving, and stayed true to their sound for the fans, and film now there is hardly ever a happy ending, just to make it all risqué and edgy, mainly to sell out and follow the trend and cash. Wtf can't some things just never change, like you say we all crave that coming some and comforting feeling, I don't understand this world.
@@SchuylerB I don't know if you're talking about me wanting them to stay the same or craving them to go back to what they once were or whatever, because that's in no way what I meant. I like how the 1975 has been experimenting and is diverse and doesn't necessarily do the same stuff for each album. this album is its own but imo this track and 'the 1975' (even when its different from what were used to from the opening track) do both feel like home. it just feels right.
I can’t believe that when I returned to college after twenty years and sat on the bench where my college girlfriend and I used to sit, this song was sent to me by the music system inexplicably. Although I have not contacted with her for many years, I burst into tears at this moment. This is a modern miracle. Now I cannot help myself to tell her this miracle.
I can’t stop thinking about her while listening to this song. It’s melancholic but the girl’s voice feels so warm, it almost cheers you. What a beautiful way to remember her.
this song makes me so happy and sad at the same time. the melody, the lyrics, EVERYTHING. this song is THE song for my crush from the past, that lasted for 6 years. this song feels like thinking you've finally moved forward and forgotten about him, but suddenly, he appears out of nowhere, coincidentally. the tiny bit of affection left in the corner of your heart starts spreading again, like wildfire. it's like falling for him the second you see him again after SOOO many years. haha (my situation).
My ex loved this band so much. I loved listening to him talking passionately about how much each song meant to him. We broke up 2 months ago and I still miss him everyday. I’m sure he would listen to this wherever he is right now, and I know he would think about me because this song is everything we want to say to eachother. If you see this Ifoo, wherever you are, I hope you’re doing well. I forgive you.
Every time I listen to this song, there are so many memories that I remember someone I can't forget. He may have forgotten about me, but I'm still thinking about him.
definitely my top 1 from the album. the one song that's so cathartic you'd want to slow dance alone in your room with your eyes closed. i feel like a teen again, discovering them for the first time. crazy how your music is that good it's like i'm falling in love all over again.
The Portugese word 'Saudade' sort of fits...or maybe the German term 'Fernweh' might be relevant. But I think the word that best suits the feeling you described is: Anemoia. It's a new and nearly unheard-of word. Its meaning is just as the title would suggest; a nostalgic sense of longing for a past you yourself have never lived.
[Verse 1: Matty Healy] I know a place It's somewhere I go when I need to remember your face We get married in our heads Something to do while we try to recall how we met [Chorus: Matty Healy] Do you think I have forgotten? I can't stop listening to it. The way it is written, the way it was sung, the way the rhythm tangles with the lyrics. Everything is perfect. It brings so much emotion.
I love the girl who name is Shin Phone Myat Every time I listen to this song, I always remember her. This song is our song. It reminds me of the memories we spent together. She became everything to me. I miss her every day. I love her...

Its both a great and painful feeling when we immediately think of a person once this song starts. Its like remembering someone special and realize its either theyre gone or you dont talk like you used to anymore. Like they said, which is worse, being the one who forgets or the one who remembers?
Same. I thought of my work crush when I was 22-23. I thought we were going to be something, but we're both waiting for the other to ask the other out. I ended up finding someone else cuz my crush never asked me out. I've been with my now bf for 5 years and have 2 kids together. Im 28 now and totally forgot about my crush until I heard this song.
In my head, this song is tied to breads. My boyfriend and I used to call each other "loaf". On the day of our 3rd anniversary, he passed away. This song would occasionally repeat over and over in my head whenever I went to bakeries or even passed by the pastry aisle in grocery stores, as if a loaf of bread contained the life we had. It made me think about how there are other people as well who carries a piece of late loved ones or someone who was once in their life that they couldn't put down because it doesn't belong anywhere else but with them.
I know a place It’s somewhere I go when I need to remember your face We get married in our heads Something to do while we try to recall how we met Do you think I have forgotten? Do you think I have forgotten? Do you think I have forgotten About you?
I just love the cool, classy vibe of this song! I heard this song for the first time at a cafe and I am so glad that I went and asked the counter girl for the song's name!
I found The 1975 when I was 13 years old and I used to stay in my room all day to read, they have grown with me and have been part of my happiest time in life. Now I'm 20 years old and I always listen to everything new that they release, but this song is something different, it's special, it makes me feel like when I heard them for the first time and I didn't knew anything about life, when I was happy and I didn’t knew it
There are very few songs that you listen for the first time and feel I've always recognized it, like a baby recognizes its mother. This is one of those songs.
Nothing will beat the first time you ever listen to a song- where you may be physically, mentally, the smell and place. I know where I am in my current moment listening to this and I know when I re-listen to it, it will transport me to where I was but at the same time, regaining new experiences as time passes by when this song plays.
This song is such a bittersweet feeling. You can listen to all the melodies balance each other out so soothingly. The sweetness is so comforting. It feels so familiar, like a place you’ve never been to before but you know it’s out there. So close, yet so far. Someone is probably listening to this and feel the same thing, we live in such a small place that is made up with big thoughts. This might seem a bit over the top haha, but I’m just saying the truth. I love it a lot!! If someone does feel this same thing as me though, I’m glad to know I’m not alone, and that you share these same thoughts with me.
I’m 66 in June. A real music mad Gemini. I love this track. Age doesn’t change feelings or how you hear. What a brilliant voice he has. The band are brilliant too. I was 18 in 1975 and I haven’t forgotten

this has got to be the most sentimental and empathetic they've gotten in an album. from the beginning to the very end, you cand find sooooo much emotion.
About You by The 1975 is such a sentimental and heartbreaking way of remembering past people. realization hits us that we are never bound to forget. no matter how much we want to completely erase memories of people, we couldn’t help but to remember them in all ways. they remain on everything-even and most especially on the ones that are in need of loving and caring. they leave a part of their existence within us, making it harder to get rid of them. by that, we truly are a shared fragment of other people. maybe, no matter how terrible things were between us and them, we couldn’t help but to always have them. they will always shelter a space in our hearts and minds as wounds, scratches, and grief to forever live with. (2)
Song that bring us back to a certain moment, moment that change our life... All of my memories are popping inside my head, the good and the bad one ❤❤❤
Thank you, 1975, for this incredible song. It evokes a lot of emotions in a good nostalgic way. Listening to it makes me feel better because it reminds me of my favorite person, who lives happily in another universe. Sending it to him in the hopes that it’ll comfort him.🤍 To my Kevin, I apologize for never attempting to forget you, as you told me before leaving for a new world. You know telling me to forget you is like telling me to stop breathing, which is why I can't and won't bother trying. I'm sending you this song because I'm confident you'll love it. Please, if you could, come to me in my dreams so we can dance and sing to this song together.
This is 1975's true and original work. The music seems like in continuation to 'Robbers' and some blend of 'Me'. Matty's voice is beautiful as always...This is the kind of music we've have been yearning for....1975 never disappoints

not once have I forgotten about you; you are still the muse of my every poem, the bane of my existence, the core of my being, you are the sweetest, most worthy, and deserving of red gardenias and it's meaning. the beauty you hold is as divine as it is alluring you are indeed the moon that glows in the sky, lighting up my world when it's dark. in another life, world, or universe, I will hold you near me and cherish you dearly.
The music of this song feels like all the time that had been spent by two people away from each other working on themselves, building up on their own to meet a day.
Timefiles pass so fast i,m still remember the first time we r talking about u r still the same person that i met at that time this song makes me miss him so much
I just lost a dear friend during the earthquake in Turkey. She was like a sister to me and I miss her so deeply. These melancholic vibes perfectly align with my emotions and grief. I will always miss you Ege. Rest in peace my dear friend.
This version adds some sadness if you're looking to get into your emotions. Enjoy, and condolences. czcams.com/video/2jYa6Wcy53k/video.html&ab_channel=Smaant
I feel like I grew up along with 1975. back then in 2013/14/15 (I was 13,14 and 15 y/o) it was more of a rebellious and and „fcked up“ time. While with the years their music became softer and softer. I am now 22, graduated, moved with my boyfriend, live in the city of my dreams, and this album feels like a hug. A big hug from music that became „mature“, soft, lovely. I identify myself with this album from its music, instrumentals. Such warmth
Oh Taylor, no wonder you fell hard...his lyrics, his singing, the arrangement and Carly's part. Had to be INSPIRED by "If You Were Here" by Thompson Twins (in Sixteen Candles). The 1975 satiating my love of 80s music!!
I can't even fathom the reaction I would have if they played Robbers, Medicine, and About You back to back to back live. I would transform into a mouth breathing, starry eyed mannequin. I wouldn't be able to move I would be so entranced.
When I heard this for the first time, I just couldn't believe that it was released recently. I'm so glad that you guys brings this kind of sound to internet. Thank you❤
This song reminds me of a girl that became my dream, a dream I will probably never let go of. I have done everything I ever could for her, and if I could do anything more I would in a heartbeat. Most people would call me stupid for it, but I had my reasons for it and nothing is going to change that. She is on my mind nearly at every moment of the day, and even if everyone around me tells me to move on I won't, I will never forget her no matter what happens in life.
I hate to accept that I can relate to this. But the way "she" made her way in my life was by accident and I tried to keep her in my life without hope is just enough to make ones heart break. But she seems happy. Maybe we can be too one day. Even if it is not with the person we dream of right now.
I feel like this would be the perfect theme for a movie were the main couple used to be together when they were young but broke up, but fell back in love with each other later in life
i can’t even describe my feelings when i first hear this song.i felt like i found something i’ve been looking for years.

@@yygg9786 also "hold on and hope that we'll find our way back in the end"...... Cardigan? Peter? I can'tttttttttttt
I like how the 1975 has been experimenting and is diverse and doesn't necessarily do the same stuff for each album. this album is its own but imo this track and 'the 1975' (even when its different from what were used to from the opening track) do both feel like home. it just feels right.
omg hi, name twin!
Good luck x

this song makes me so happy and sad at the same time. the melody, the lyrics, EVERYTHING. this song is THE song for my crush from the past, that lasted for 6 years. this song feels like thinking you've finally moved forward and forgotten about him, but suddenly, he appears out of nowhere, coincidentally. the tiny bit of affection left in the corner of your heart starts spreading again, like wildfire. it's like falling for him the second you see him again after SOOO many years. haha (my situation).

I forgive you.

definitely my top 1 from the album. the one song that's so cathartic you'd want to slow dance alone in your room with your eyes closed. i feel like a teen again, discovering them for the first time. crazy how your music is that good it's like i'm falling in love all over again.
I learnt the word cathartic from matty when i was a teen lol. And this song does make me feel like a teen again

God damn
In my head, this song is tied to breads.
My boyfriend and I used to call each other "loaf". On the day of our 3rd anniversary, he passed away.
This song would occasionally repeat over and over in my head whenever I went to bakeries or even passed by the pastry aisle in grocery stores, as if a loaf of bread contained the life we had.
It made me think about how there are other people as well who carries a piece of late loved ones or someone who was once in their life that they couldn't put down because it doesn't belong anywhere else but with them.

Same!
Such an 80s vibe, love this song and 1975!
Such warmth
when I hear the beat drop, my shoulders drop and all my worries fade away. I love this song with all my heart.
Oh Taylor, no wonder you fell hard...his lyrics, his singing, the arrangement and Carly's part. Had to be INSPIRED by "If You Were Here" by Thompson Twins (in Sixteen Candles). The 1975 satiating my love of 80s music!!
Falling and love and listening to this at the same time is such a blissful experience
I can't even fathom the reaction I would have if they played Robbers, Medicine, and About You back to back to back live. I would transform into a mouth breathing, starry eyed mannequin. I wouldn't be able to move I would be so entranced.
Relatable 😉🎤

A brokenhearted genius :(
I came back to hear the beautiful song. In fact, this song really makes me like wow, it's so beautiful❤️
This song reminds me of a girl that became my dream, a dream I will probably never let go of. I have done everything I ever could for her, and if I could do anything more I would in a heartbeat. Most people would call me stupid for it, but I had my reasons for it and nothing is going to change that. She is on my mind nearly at every moment of the day, and even if everyone around me tells me to move on I won't, I will never forget her no matter what happens in life.
one day you'll do and you'll move on but you'll never forget her. i feel you
I hate to accept that I can relate to this. But the way "she" made her way in my life was by accident and I tried to keep her in my life without hope is just enough to make ones heart break. But she seems happy. Maybe we can be too one day. Even if it is not with the person we dream of right now.
Bro. I feel you that's true LOVE!♥️
This song brings back memories I almost forgot but will forever cherish in my heart. Cheers to this great song of The 1975!
