      Positively Brainwashed absolutely truth. this is how to read, how to read faster,and with practice,learn to get faster from experience. this list is not tricks it is simply a practical lust of absolutes in the fundamentals of reading. I know because I do them all fluently. tjid is also the outline for writing books. I have written three.

      Imagine if it was a nap now you to put lines on anything you read online so you could read faster even when you're online reading a novel or even a manga I found another hack that works really good draw a square around the outer edges this can work with manga but be prepared to have a curved line if you do manga because sometimes the words are odd shapes then draw a line under each word for word so that you can is it a lot quicker and you know how you said you don't have to read word for work you can actually read word-for-word without losing speed that way

      The research stands out indeed. I feel the work of many great minds here. The best of your video is the way it wrap up the most important parts. I know because I use most of it on a daily basis. Eliminate subvocalization, ask questions on what to learn from it, enlarge the peripheral vision, use mindmapping and memory palaces, and so on

This is because of grad school... like, I need to comprehend lol. So, I'm glad you said its ok to not comprehend at first and that over time it will get better. I find subvocalization and using my peripheral vision to be my biggest challenges. The amount of practice it requires should certainly be emphasized. Right now I'm trying out your tips with "Emerson; The Mind On Fire" I do already read a lot, but I'm slow. I talk in my head, reread sentences to try and gain total understanding (which BTW never really works when reading books older than 150 years because language changes. However I'm going to keep my old habits when reading poetry...poetry after all is poetry!

    I watched another video. It appears you're more educational than I first guessed.
    In the same vein as speed reading, I usually increase the speed of educational videos so I can get through them quicker. I try to go 2x speed but 1.5x is very comfortable for most videos.
    I agree with the visualization of text; for example I see music as geography and texture a lot of the time and the more I read the more I see "webs of language" in my mind. These webs of language are my attempt to make a mental map of the author's text, and really try to experience their thoughts.

I consulted a synopsis of a book that explained it without any spoilers . That worked. For Classics i do recommend Cliff or Monarch . I will implement these suggestions . My Top 3 favorite books. : Talisman by Stephen King & Peter Straub ; The Name Of The Rose by Umberto Eco ; & Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell . My favorite Top 3 Children's/ Young Adult books Books : Peter Pan by J.M Barrie ; The Wonderful Flight To The Mushroom Planet by Eleanor Cameron & Rifles for Watie by Harold Keith .

    I'm not sure a person could leave a valid review of a book if it was a speed read. I agree, you can get info from a book while speed reading. My argument is that you probably miss just as much as you absorb. Little bits of information you assume to be trivial may be more integral than you think.

    • @PositivelyBrainwashed
      @PositivelyBrainwashed  Před 4 lety +1

      Not all info has equal in value. There's a lot of fluff in books that's there simply because no one is gonna pay $20 for a 20 page book.
      We don't have enough time read all the books in our lifetime. The argument I'm presenting is that given X amount of time, you will absorb more important info learning how to efficiently speed read many books, instead of reading a few books from the back to the end. The key word I want you to focus on is "efficiently."

  • @ayanokojikiyotaka4712
    @ayanokojikiyotaka4712 Před 3 lety +1

    I understood the speed reading part, but the tips you mentioned for better comprehension consume extra time. So doesn't that mean its slowing down? so its either read fast with 60% compression or read fast but spend extra time for compression then that basically is the same amount of time it takes to read slow. I just want to know how to read fast and absorb the information at the same time.

    • @PositivelyBrainwashed
      @PositivelyBrainwashed  Před 3 lety

      The most efficient way to read and absorb knowledge fast that I don't think I mentioned in this video is to use an app like Blinklist which summarizes 1000s of books so you just get the key points. You can digest an entire book or two everyday in about 20 minutes.

    Is it better to speed read or speed listen to books (Audible). I found my self listening to 4 chapters in one day well I get stuck reading one chapter for days ? So I will reformulate my question is it worth it to learn speed reading or I can simply listen ?

    • @PositivelyBrainwashed
      @PositivelyBrainwashed  Před 7 lety +2

      The answer is it depends. If you're someone whose often driving, doing chores, like often doing something simple that you can listen to audio at the same time, then you might not need to speed read. I'm someone who does both. But with that said, you might be interested in books that's not available in audio, or you're just online reading the news, status updates or whatever. So I think it's still worth the time to learn to speed read, even just a little.

    You really should avoid using google translate to do the translation of the description below the video. The sentences make absolutely no sense.

    Your website isn't resolving for me: positivelybrainwashed.com/books
    It quickly redirects to blank page for random webhost.

      Hi, the traffic for my website reached its limit. Usually this doesn't happen until the end of the month (It was free). But my traffic has been increasing dramatically. So I bought unlimited bandwidth for a year earlier yesterday. My host just has to confirm and review the transaction first. It should be up sometime soon.

    wow i really liked your video. i want to suggest you that if you want book suggestions then go to gatesnotes.com. seriously bill gates really suggests nice books to read.
    P.S. i am not saying because i am impressed that he is a billionaire but i genuinely felt that way after reading one of his suggested books. so try it once.

    Did you just reference Richard Dawkins? Dawkin's books disprove themselves and his theories dissolve as you read each of his chapters. I get it you are trying to create content, but realize that a guy that has made a fool out of himself by literally refuting his own theories is probably not a good quote to use for speed reading. Good luck to you, sorry I liked your video until you quoted and referenced a deranged man that says he does not believe in intelligent design and then states that he believes in Supreme advanced Aliens (literally intelligent design) being the creators of life.

      When Dawkins talks about aliens, he's simply making a hypothesis. I don't think you really follow or understand his perspective if you've come to the conclusion he thinks aliens are creators. He's an agnostic atheists, meaning he doesn't know if there's a God or not. But he assumes there isn't because he's not convinced.
