The Book of Mormon does have racist scriptures so for Lisa to say the religion was not based on racism is a lie. It might not be the case now but it was at some point.

this was an AWFUL showing from Lisa Barlow. I always knew something was up with her and this just proves she definitely has racist attitudes. ‘Thurl Bailey is black and mormon’ is the EXACT SAME as saying ‘I can’t be racist, I have heaps of black friends!’ like she doesn’t get it and needs to do some reflection. Similarly, Monica said it was stereotypical for Monica to be accused of stealing the ring because she has less than them, and Lisa goes ‘when have we ever SAID you have less than us.’ Racism doesn’t need to be outright spoken to be present, and stereotypes exist whether it is said outright or not. Lisa Barlow is giving Dorit vibes and she needs to educate herself, as much as i love her i can’t support that behaviour.
So what do you think about the multiple racist comments from Mary then?
Mary didn’t say a single racist thing in this reunion, however I do think it was absolutely deplorable her comments about Jennie and black people in S1-2, although I don’t have much sympathy for Jennie. I don’t think someone has to be perfect in order to call someone else out for their behaviour, yes Mary says racist things, but so does Lisa, both of those things can be true and Mary is within her right to call out racism when she sees it, just as Jen was in her right to call out Mary in S1
@@jacobstephenson426 Lisa hasn’t said anything racist on the show or off, nobody on the cast has except Mary and Jennie ( on social media) and only Jennie was fired for it. Why does Mary get a pass? It’s hypocritical for a racist to call out other people who have no examples of racism in their history. Every church has a bad past, things within their religion that are prejudiced. That doesn’t always reflect how people practice it today or who they are.
@@april-tui3524 did you read my original comment? I gave two examples of Lisa being racist, and I did not give Mary a pass. You don’t need to SAY racist things to be a racist person, and Lisa is severely tone deaf and oblivious to the lived experiences of those around her, THAT is racist. Saying the Mormon church is not rooted in racism is incredibly ignorant and just because she hasn’t experienced racism does not mean it isn’t prevalent. This should be obvious, because she is a white woman, so her opinion on whether or not black people are MADE TO FEEL welcome in the Mormon church is completely irrelevant. Like I said, “Thurl Bailey is black and Mormon” is like saying “I’m not racist, I have heaps of black friends!” That doesn’t make you not racist, and the fact that she thinks one black person being in the Mormon church means it’s not racist is -in itself- racist. Just because she doesn’t outwardly say “I hate black people” doesn’t mean she doesn’t display racist behaviour LMFAO. And I am not giving Mary a pass, because I acknowledge that she is racist as well. Like I said, multiple things can be true, and I think people are allowed to be hypocritical when they are talking about their lived experience with racism as a person of colour 🤷♂️
Lisa didn’t say when have we ever said you have less than us, she said she didn’t accuse Monica of stealing her ring, which she didn’t. Monica just jumped to the conclusion Lisa and Heather started that narrative when ppl in the comments were literally saying Monica probably found the ring and kept it immediately after the episode aired.
Mary is a colourist herself who has said herself that she prefers lighter people. She's reaching with this racist comment.

If I’m not mistaken, I believe Mary’s tweet about Whitney being racist was in response of Jennie posting a pic with Whitney on social media.

They conveniently don't show the proper context of Mary's tweet: she was responding to a photo of Whitney with Jennie, apparently Whitney had recently invited Jennie to one of her events and they were posing together
But Mary herself has said many racist things, on the show alone.
Both Whitney and Jennie said Whit didn’t invite her to the event but she showed up anyway.
