I don't see a problem with this review. This guy is pretty transparent about any biases he has, and his opinion is pretty middle of the road. Even if you disagree with his score or claims, I doubt he cares; use them as a point of reference to gauge how you think you'll find the album. That's what reviews are for.
Thanks for the vote of confidence! I try to take every album at face value. I don't hate the album at all, despite what a lot of folks are saying; I like it! I just don't see it without flaws.
I'd have to agree with this. I didn't agree with some of the things he said, but I still gotta give him credit for being respectful in the way he presented his opinions, which is more than I can say about a lot of the commentators in this section.
Aggressive Tendencies I can see this. But those crazed libtard crybaby Trivium fans cannot see past anything but the fact that you didn't give the album a 5 star rating. Waaa...uh....waaaa...ug....waaaa. Here you go Trivium fan.....a pacifier and a rattle. Will THAT calm you down?
When Shogun came out I said, "Wow! These dudes made a great record!" Nowadays I don't listen to anything they record but I'll def check them out live this time around cuz I wanna see Alex Bent drum for them.
Aggressive Tendencies I'm also a death metal fan as well, I just feel the album should have been reviewed on its own merits of its genre than comparing it to death metal in a lot of places. It has similarities but Trivium has always had a certain vocal style and song structure and I feel that based on that, this is their best release yet. Not trying to bash you at all. I liked your review on Exhumed for example. Keep up the good work dude.
Been a trivium fanboy since I was a kid. Followed their career since ember. So far, this is the best since shogun. I hope they go back to that shogun sound…
Huayu Ke I'm hoping for that too. Shogun will forever be my top album until they top it, but I've accepted that they may not. They admitted that a good bit of songs in Shogun are hard to play and they were still trying to find their comfortable sound when they released it. As a musician myself I respect that reasoning they gave for that. I honestly think The Sin and the Sentence is the best effort for their sound as a whole so I'm happy with it.
Definitely their best since Shogun, on par with that and In Waves for me. A really pleasant surprise. I don't think your review was wrong, I think you made some fair ponits, but I do think you were overly picky at points, it sometimes came off like you were just trying to find small things to criticise and overblow. You spent ages describing a tiny vocal intonation as a 'drag'. Why spend so long talking about that rather than, say, evaluating The Revanchist, the ambitious 7 minutes centrepiece of this album, or Thrown Into the Fire which should be right up your street as an extreme metal fan (I am one as well). What did those do (or not do) for you?
Now this is the right way to criticize someones work! On point, NOT IDIOTIC/under aged hater shit and articulate. Personally right now easily in my top 3 Trivium albums b/c Heafys now beautiful clean vocals and the return of aggression and an all around more inspired sense of songwriting and musicianship than on the previous 2 albums which sounded more like Roadrunner telling them what kind of music they should make IMO
The Sin & the Sentence (album rating): 9/10 Favorite Song: Beyond Oblivion Least Favorite: Endless Nights My ranking of Trivium albums BEST to WORST: 1. Shogun 2. Ascendancy 3. The Sin & the Sentence (TIE) 4. In Waves (TIE) 5. Ember to Inferno 6. The Crusade 7. Silence in the Snow 8. Vengeance Falls Side note: I think Sam Dunn should’ve reviewed this album, & this is my favorite album of 2017 so far
I've watched pretty much every single video on Banger TV and everytime I do it I keep thinking about the folks who work behind the camera and in the studio editing and adding sound effects to it. They actually do a pretty good job.
i didnt like silence but this ones a decent effort i dont like his cleans anymore as much huge fan mind you but i know he doesn't sound like that live or well i hope not going to see them November 17th with arch enemy lol
Wow, I get music is a subjective thing but calling "The Crusade" a total dud is where you totally lost me. Just dismissing a whole album that's filled with so many great riffs, solos and hooks just feels... wrong and unfair.
no sir...i'm Brad. I'm not sure why Banger got this guy to do the review for this album. Each of Trivium's albums are unique and no it doesn't all sound the same....why do we knock bands that explore as artists and try new things on albums? That's all part of being a band and making music. This album is tight...recorded well and sounds legit! A lot of different elements of metal and even some notes of paying homage to older metal bands....why'd he review this album? Clearly he really only cares about Death Metal and maybe black metal...and obviously Mario Kart...which was the only thing i laughed at in this review.
he probably would have given it the same score as brad. just because its a mediocre metalcore album that you like, doesnt mean everyone here needs to think the same. it would be like you reviewing origin
Steve Parkhill It’s not that. Sam is more articulate and points out every little detail that makes this song stand out compared with others. Brad is just more like I’ll review a few of these songs, and those parts and that’s it. He didn’t get to the title track or the last two songs off the album, which were bigger highlights than a couple of the songs he reviewed.
Even though i love the album, I agree with the interview and all the complains, but that doesn't stop me from repeating the album till i get mad of it.
Tbh, when this dude reviews an album that's out of the DeathMetal genre, I always take with a massive grain of salt. Same thing with anything from this channel. Just seems so one-sided at times with it's albums reviews.
They speak so highly of him, just like they did with Nick Augusto. I fucking hope they keep Alex for a long time. They really are a better band with him there. I think he’s really good even on the slower mainstream-y songs like Endless Nights and Heart From Your Hate. With Nick they always complained he wanted to play fast constantly, but with Alex they seem a lot more content for once
yes exactly! alex on the album is KILLER! and i really hope they get along well so that we can see other great albums in the future! for me alex fits perfectly in the band
Categorizing Metal into their sub genre's and comparing them to other bands in a certain sub genre is getting old. It's all Metal under the Metal tree at the end of the day. Lets start appreciating what bands bring to the table creatively without trying to place the style in a sub genre.
VΞGΛEidolon Yeah, but it's not going to stop so you might as well get used it :) A lot of people like to compartmentalise their tastes. Subgenrefication (??) does make it easier to find new bands to check out. You know, if you like Suffocation then you'll probably get a lot out of the Tech Death section. It does also pay to look outside your favourite little boxes now and again though, I agree with you there.
Such a great record. This is the first one where Trivium really grabbed me. Can't stop listening to it. Funny, all the things he hated are some of my favorites. Like when he goes for the higher note on "I'll never be a victim". I absolutely love that slide in.
And that's the beauty of music...we don't all think the same thing! This record has actually grown on me, and I think I was a bit too harsh on it. Alas, that's the problem with only having a little while to listen to an album before a review.
I like that you were honest throughout the video. Personally, I love this record and Trivium. Theyve inspired me to improve at guitar and vocals in a way that no other band really has. Watching this video reminded me that they, like anyone else, are human, and can always improve. Solid video man, keep it up🤘
Thank you so much, Brett. This album actually did grow on me quite a bit since. It's unfortunate with reviews that you only get to listen for a certain amount of time before you have to give your opinion. I still think some of the problems I highlighted here are not great, but overall I think the majority of the album is solid.
I agree with him when it comes to the jump from Shogun to In Waves. His joke about Vengeance was great lol, and I gotta say Silence was really over polished. It felt like the Black album all over again lol. I'll have to pick this one up soon but I hope that instead of just putting out albums that sound different from the one before it, Trivium can make an album that encompasses everything they've done.
Hey, a fellow Brad! I'm with you on hoping they work on building a sound rather than jumping around. Good comparison with the Black album haha - I laughed!
Funny reading the comments. I thought the review was very fair and objective, and it made me want to at least check the album out (even though I have yet to like a single Trivium album). What more could you want from a reviewer?
Thank you, Darth! I thought I was fairly objective, so I'm glad others see it. And it's cool it made you want to check it out! Maybe you'll dig it, maybe you won't, but at least you are able to make your own opinion.
Well, this best record since In Waves. I'm very happy that Heafy screams again. This albums is like ember meets shogun, ascendancy and silence + bm and death metal. The record is kinda allover the place which is a double edged sword. All in all I would give this album 3,5/5. I hope they keep this line and Alex Bent. Bent is the real gem of this album and one of the reasons for the heaviness. Also the production could have been better because some times the vocals and guitars sound thin
I've never heard of Gorguts so no hate will come from me. I think it was a pretty fair review from an obvious fan of heavier stuff. I subscribed so maybe I can find heavier bands to add to my listening sessions. Great review
My favorite Heavier bands are Lamb of God, Meshuggah, Fit For an Autopsy, Periphery, Veil of Maya.... Mostly the more well known Mainstream metal/Djent bands. I'm open to anything though
i don't like trivium that much but for the sake of correctness i think you are wrong at 6:08 they actually modulate a minor third up. it can make you cringe when you're not expecting it but it is actually well executed even though it is a cheesy composition technique to begin with.
Trivium kind of came back. Some of the songs remind me shogun. The rest are kind of what they did after Shogun. Overall I'm happy with this record. Bent is extremely good drummer. I hope they won't fire him as well.
Yes, shogun was where they should have kept it going. Travis Smith was Trivium but you are right about the Hit an Miss. Ill always thank trivium for helping me open doors to the realm of metal. This band inspired me to play my heart out while wielding the guitar. Im going deep into the metal world because of them. I will always respect this band even if ppl hate them which they do where I am going with metal :)
Imo this album is way better than he gives it credit for. He's right about some of the weak parts he pointed out but there are soo many great parts/songs he didn't talk about like The Wretchedness Inside and Thrown Into the Fire!
Often times people try to sound smarter than what they really are and the way they do that is by over criticising. Its a shame because in the end it gives the listener the wrong idea. The album is great super creative and diverse go listen to it and draw your own conclusions.
Glad you made that comment about Shogun. That was a great album and wish they expanded on that sound. Instead, we got three additional albums I skimmed through once. I'll give this a listen though.
What a one sided review. Obviously this guy is a death/black metal fan with how much he hated the melodic parts and the slow riffs. I'm a Trivium fan and I think I speak for most of them with saying that this album for sure has a spot in the top 3.
There's one thing you can't deny: these guys are one of the most technically accomplished bands on the planet. They were this accomplished while only in their teens too! But the problem I've always had with them is sometimes they can be kinda boring. They sometimes follow the trends, but without the passion of the best bands in whatever genre they're playing in at the time. That's a shame too, because they are such a talented group. Also, I have to say I always loved Heafy's Hetfield impersonation.
No Mention of The title track, Thrown into the fire, how great of a big song The heart from your hate is, how diverse the album is. Whether Brad likes it or not this is one of if the not the biggest and best, current and relevant metal album in the world right now
I do think that Trivium is an important band. They constantly take out young bands and are legitimately interested and tapped into what is upcoming (like the Cavalera brothers). This album has grown on me, and I admit I was a bit overly critical here; the album has grown on me and while I still maintain my criticisms, I think overall the rest is quite solid.
Love your reviews! Especially your very open way of comparing styles and some, at least to me, definite parallels or inspirations they might took from other bands. That meshuggah-ish part reminded me of Meshuggah immediately. I am really glad that Trivium went back to a heavy sound and I have to say that this sounds - despite me actually liking most of In Waves - almost as good as they sounded back at Shogun, which I think is their best work to date.
While I don't agree with some of the points you made, I can see where you're coming from, especially with Betrayer. I love that song but I have the same feeling about the trem picking riff that you do. Could've been made a lot bigger sounding just by adding a simple rhythm guitar underneath it, but my theory is that when they play it live it won't have that, so the album shouldn't give you that either. Just my two cents.
I'm with ya on the first since Shogun (despite moments on In Waves). Nothing wrong with Deafheaven, I'm also a fan, but their fanbase is definitely composed of metal fans who appreciate them and fans of other stuff who dabble in metal, which is whom I was talking about here.
Aggressive Tendencies Ah, fair enough. By the way I'd like to quickly commend you on your connection with the fans, this is two weeks in a row you've taken the time to respond to my comment. Cheers dude.
Thanks man! I do my best to respond to the majority of the comments (even when people decide to hate me!). I like learning what other people think, expanding what I hear in albums and building the community of metal fans who love to talk about it!
Trivium is a band I like a lot even if I don't like or get all their albums. Glad Brad agrees Ascendancy was a "masterpiece." One of my top favorite metal albums ever. I like Matt and his various vocal approaches. It would not surprise me if at some point they pop off another masterpiece, but very different from Ascendancy. I also like parts of this album -- what I've heard so far -- but it's definitely not Ascendancy or In Waves.
Dude, Ascendancy was next level, especially for 15-year-old me. I hope they get another masterpiece on the level of that one or Shogun. This is definitely closer than anything they've done since, IMO.
As someone who's not familiar with Trivium's previous work, I find this to be quite a decent and competent record. Guitars and drums are performed very professionally, and the songwriting is mostly on point. It feels very much like an all-killer-no-filler album, however this is where the only serious complaint I have comes in. The album doesn't have any really obvious highlights. It's great from start to finish, but nothing really stands out. It's an 8/10 for me.
Glad to see you review this Brad, some people seem salty by the things you said and the rating you gave this album yet 3/5 isn't a bad score tbh, like chill lol. Anyways thanks for changing my thoughts on this album, I might give it another go and keep what you said in mind. (Gave this a 3.8/5)
Thanks Grandpa! Yeah, I like the album! I don't know why everyone is like "U HATE DIS ALBUM." When did I say that? It's good, just not without its flaws.
Yeah, just some fanboys getting salty from the claims and comparisons you made lol. Even you said "The commentators are gonna be mad because of this." lol. Well ignore them for now and I'll be looking forward to your next review! Enjoy playing Mario Kart for now!
Im a huge fan of Trivium. I thought when i saw the thumbnail, "oh here we go, going to stamp all over them as everyone did for Silence in the snow" but very happy with this. all true statements without laying into them. But i still think everyone needs to have another listen to silence in the snow.
Thank you so much! I try to approach every review as fairly as possible. Trivium are a band I respect, even if I don't like everything they've done. They're definitely talented!
Great review Brad. I'm on the fence about this album, because I feel it had the potential to be on par with Shogun and Ascendancy, but they took some weird artistic choices that downgrade the quality of the songs. Your example of Betrayer is on point. I still got the record and there are songs that I absolutely enjoy, but overall, I'm left craving for whar could have been. Oh well, their record, their shit. Thanks for the good work man, keep it going.
Thanks so much Juan! Definitely some cool stuff going on though not without its flaws. Hopefully they polish this sound and knock it out of the park next time.
Given that I haven't listened to the album (yet) and that this is the first review by Brad I've watched, I can't say if I agree or do not agree with him about that album (I'm not sure how much I'll agree given that I seem to prefer Trivium albums which where a miss to him). This said, I don't see anything wrong with the way he worded his opinion. Didn't feel biased nor unrepectful in my opinion, and major kudos to make comparisons between Trivium and Gorgoroth or Meshuggah. :)
Have so many memories with this album while keeping it on repeat in school. However some of the songs take a lot of plays to get into and enjoy imo. I can see where hes coming from on "Betrayer" I originally had the same thoughts.
I was never a huge fan of trivium, but i do like what alex bent has brought to the band. And dude, i'm with you for the opening riff of betrayer. thats the only riff in the song i don't like. For their next album, i really want to see them go darker with the riffs.
Totally agree on the hit or miss, but I love Silence in the Snow for one simple reason: It's one of the best produced modern Metal albums around, which makes it a pleasure to listen to and give good songs like Rise Above the Tide time to grow on you. This one sounds too long but interesting, I'll give it a shot.
There are pieces of every Trivium album I love, and yeah some not so much but they are one of my favorites. I feel by what tracks I have heard that they are trying to incorporate sounds from all the previous albums into one which gives it that back and forth kind of vibe which I personally like. I also feel with the compare to Gorguts or Meshuggah I agree, but seeing how Matt Heafy's influences range and what he listens to, Im not surprised either. I agree that Ascendancy and Shogun are their best(Shogun being my favorite and in between its hit or miss, but I hope they stick with this going forward and tweak at it a bit along the way
Trivium are one of my favorite bands but I agree completely with this review. I love most of the tracks on the album but feel they are too long in cases. The Revanchist is like the only long song that feels well put together, doesn’t feel as long as it does. Betrayer though..... the opening kills this song for me. I like most of the song but that opening riff just puts me off. So overall good review. I think it’s accurate.
Thank you very much, Adam. It's very cool to hear a fan of the band agree with my review, which I try my best to ensure is fair, rather than bashing me for not praising the entire production.
Did this guy even actually listen to the entire album? I agree with some of his points but it seems like he just picked three songs at random and nit-picked the shit out of them. This was more or a song review than an album review honestly. There are better examples to use to address both his complaints and his likes elsewhere throughout the album. He may not be a fan and thats great (usually makes a person more objective when reviewing) but 'reviewing' an 11 song album based off of three songs is a piss poor review. I will somewhat agree with his overall score though, which I guess makes my rant useless.
Haha love the comments. Think it is good to hear the opinion of a metal fan who is not into Trivium. Love Trivium but gives a different perspective on it
"fuck off with your blue shell" haha! We all know that feeling, and the satisfaction of nailing someone with a green shell! Great review, respect !\m/!
Fun fact: Brad is working in the Banger studio and he didn't choose those band logos behind him, it's a segment of a much larger wall, with many more bands, which are the same for every video. OK, carry on!
SicSemperEvelloMortemTyrannis TyrannyEnder Lmao, what are you talking about. Slayer, Gojira, Obituary, Death, Mayhem, Bathory, Cannibal Corpse, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Voivod, Mastodon, Whitechapel, Converge, Slipknot, Celtic Frost, Napalm Death, and Judas Priest suck? Give me whatever you’re smoking cause that must be some dank shit.
I definitely feel this review. It’s not revolutionary but it’s certainly a step in the right direction and if they keep on this path they can put out some material that really competes with the quality of Shogun
I hope they get there! This album has grown on me since this review, and I honestly think it might top Shogun (looking back at it in my Rewind 2008 video, it didn't hold up quite as well as I thought it did). I believe Trivium is a very important band in metal because they are actively seeking out younger bands, bringing them on tours, posting about them.
I personally started Trivium with In Waves but the only album I "don't like" Vengeance Falls and I was a bit dissapointed with Silence in the Snow at first but it grew on me and after I got to know why Matt didn't scream, cause he had Throat Problems, I really started to like it and it's not that Matt has a Bad Clean Voice and I do encourage a few more Clean Vocs Only Songs
I personally loved this album from beginning to end. We hear all of the previous 7 albums throughout, while the band reclaimed their brutality. A couple of the tracks are a bit radio friendly, but for the most part it declared (to me) that Trivium was back.
I agree with you in that Trivium is a very hit and miss band both In Waves and Vengance Falls about half the songs on those albums are great and half those songs are so so, this making those 2 albums only so so overall I also agree with you in that their last album Silence In The Snow should have stayed silent because in my opinion it is their worst album where I strongly disagree with you is in your comment about The Crusade because I do not think that The Crusade was a dud, sure it did not dies as well as Shogun did, but it did not do bad either and personally The Crusade is my favourite album by Trivium
Fair enough, maybe I need to revisit The Crusade with a more open mind. It's been a while since I heard it and I've grown to appreciate more things since.
Trivium albums ranked 1. Shogun 2. The Crusade 3. Ascendancy 4. The Sin and the Sentence 5. Ember to Inferno 6. In Waves 7. Silence in the Snow 8. Vengance Falls
I loved this album (as well as everything else) I got a chance to hang out with them and listen to some of the albums. They are honestly awesome and Matt is such a awesome guy.
3/5 is a great review form a guy like this. I've loved Trivium since about the time roadrunner started promoting them. It seemed at the time you either were a fan or you constantly shit on them. I'm glad they've gained a little respect from the tr00 metal heads over the years.
Thanks mate! I loved Trivium back then too and have continued to love that material and some of what they've put out since. I'm pretty un-tr00 to be honest haha.
I’m having a really hard time with your musical resume, that term picking went a step down vocals are in the same key.. Trivium hit it out the park with this album for Trivium..
Wow, okay. I had all but forgotten about Trivium and It's not that they're bad, their songs just always seem a little undercooked. They just never seemed to get their hooks into head.
For me Shogun is Trivium's magnus opus, then Ascendancy and The Sin and the Sentence is a return to form. I just hope they stay on track, their next work could be immense.
Thank you so much! It means so much to me that people can appreciate my reviews even if they don't agree with my verdict - maybe even more than when people just like them because I echo their thoughts. You rule!
I don't have a lot of experience with Trivium, or metalcore in general, but it sounds like an album that needs at least 5-6 listens before I make up my mind. It has good parts, and parts that could really grow on me. Or I could end up hating it. One listen = not conclusive.
The thing is, all of your main problems you had with the record are a lot of the fan's favorite parts of the record. What you call flat vocals, we hear Matt purposely pushing the lower octave's of his voice. While the Betrayer riff isn't necessarily the best riff they've come up with, it compliments the nature of the song (simple yet quick and chaotic). I'd agree that the can sometimes be a hit or miss band, but I'd argue that they've had a A LOT more hits than you've described. Especially In Waves and Silence In The Snow
I think everything resumes to this: If you are not MetallicA fan don't listen to Trivium, don't even judge them and overlook everything just because you can't admit the Crusade is a great album and made us all miss the 80s but also gave more technical fundamentals to build what has been the masterpiece Shogun. That is just undeniable and i am glad both bands one after another made a good album after a long time. If you are not then I suggest you to go back with your trt trt 2 hours straight until your head is left with nothing, otherwise if you really want to overlook and judge badly even the good stuff practice every single minute of your life and become the new dream theather.
This is the best Metal record since Machine Head's 07' The Blackening. Give the album a listen for yourself, don't rely on someone else's opinions. Standout tracks: The Wretchedness Inside + Beyond Oblivion + Sever the Hand & BETRAYER! Ps, where's Sam Dunn dude? What happened to him?
This band has always been hit n miss for me. but after checking out this review I am going to check this so album out. afterwards, I will blast Gorguts and Meshuggah!
Awesome entertaining review. This one of the best albums in a relatively slow Metal year so far. Couldn't agree more with telling Trivium to stick with a style already! Was gonna give up on them but this is a good one.
The singles were hit or miss for me, with only the title track really standing out. But when the album dropped I was really pleasantly surprised. Currently i'm a fan of about 80% of the album, which is by no means bad. It has a lot of really heavy parts and cool riffs and im happy that Matt's voice is back growling and singing stronger than ever.
I saw these guys open up for Iced Earth in 2004 and everyone hated them. The singer was getting pissed at the crown for heckling him. All these years later, I can't believe anyone actually likes them.
For me one of the reasons I love Trivium is because they change their sound all the time. I like that they experiment and try new things. And as far as Silence in the Snow goes... Well Matt broke his voice for a bit and had to let it heal and got retrained and this was during the process of healing so he was physically incapable of the screams. So I let that album slide but I'm a fanboy at this point so what does it matter
I think the Meshuggah comparison came to mind because that opening riff was practically identical to a Meshuggah riff off of Koloss or maybe even the new one. Can't remember which song for the life of me. But Thomas Haake uses a more mid tempo, odd time pace during it.
Beautifully worded, thank you
I'd have to agree with this. I didn't agree with some of the things he said, but I still gotta give him credit for being respectful in the way he presented his opinions, which is more than I can say about a lot of the commentators in this section.
Thank you very much! I try my best to backup all of my opinions!
Never been a big Trivium fan but holy fuck this album is good
FuckItProductions fuck yea! this new album is a Masterpiece
It's a fucking ripper. They nailed it on this one!
ok I guess I like dog shit then
Frank Reid what is true metal to you then
Brad has zero understanding of singing.
That's what happens when you drown yourself in deathcore and can't appreciate singing.
@Naki Value how
@@nick_terrorx Fr dude lmao Matts vocals go hard.
Shogun is a pretty underrated album imo
I'd argue that it's overrated.
How so? It's not that famous neither very wel received critically. Metal elitists also hate it.
Most fans rave about it. It's definitely the fan favourite.
yeah but that doesn't make an album overrated.
When Shogun came out I said, "Wow! These dudes made a great record!" Nowadays I don't listen to anything they record but I'll def check them out live this time around cuz I wanna see Alex Bent drum for them.
Probably my favorite Trivium album, not really surprised this guy didn't like it that much since he's more into death metal.
I'm also huge into metalore. Killswitch Engage were one of my first loves, as were Trivium to be honest.
Thanks dude! I feel I reviewed it on its own merits, or tried to at least.
John Landis
You are so trve
I dont. This album is so kickass!.
Matthew I totally agree dude.
Easily their best since In Waves, which was way better than what you gave it credit for.
The Sin & the Sentence (album rating): 9/10
Favorite Song: Beyond Oblivion
Least Favorite: Endless Nights
My ranking of Trivium albums BEST to WORST:
1. Shogun
2. Ascendancy
3. The Sin & the Sentence (TIE)
4. In Waves (TIE)
5. Ember to Inferno
6. The Crusade
7. Silence in the Snow
8. Vengeance Falls
Side note: I think Sam Dunn should’ve reviewed this album, & this is my favorite album of 2017 so far
Is Ghost's Prequelle your favorite of 2018?
Agree but crusade and ember to inferno need to switch places for me
I've watched pretty much every single video on Banger TV and everytime I do it I keep thinking about the folks who work behind the camera and in the studio editing and adding sound effects to it. They actually do a pretty good job.
I LOVE those people. They take me talking and turn it into something much better.
Best album since In Waves IMO
Emilio CS was thinking the same.
That isnt saying much. The new album is a complete turd
well you know, thats your opion man. Pretty sure a lot of fans r gonna enjoy it!
i didnt like silence but this ones a decent effort i dont like his cleans anymore as much huge fan mind you but i know he doesn't sound like that live or well i hope not going to see them November 17th with arch enemy lol
Best album of the year
Wow, I get music is a subjective thing but calling "The Crusade" a total dud is where you totally lost me. Just dismissing a whole album that's filled with so many great riffs, solos and hooks just feels... wrong and unfair.
Ehh your free to have your opinion but mine is that its their weakest album.
Didn't even the guys at Trivium recently say they think Crusade is pretty weak by now?
The Crusade was utter shit
Crusade was a good album, becoming the dragon and to the rats? COME ON!!! they are SOOOOO GOOOODD
Becoming The Dragon still kicks ass
I love Trivium, I was hyped af for this album. For me, anyway, it was worth it.
Alex Bent rules. Even from just the clips you showed, I was hypnotized by the cymbal work.
Drumming is one of the best parts of the album.
no sir...i'm Brad.
I enjoy all of Trivium's albums. I am not shocked about this guy not enjoying this album. In my opinion, they should of had Sam Dunn do the review.
I agree with you, Sam Dunn should’ve reviewed this album. And the score I give this album is a 4.5/5 skulls.
I'd give it 4.5/5 skulls too.
he probably would have given it the same score as brad. just because its a mediocre metalcore album that you like, doesnt mean everyone here needs to think the same. it would be like you reviewing origin
Steve Parkhill
It’s not that. Sam is more articulate and points out every little detail that makes this song stand out compared with others. Brad is just more like I’ll review a few of these songs, and those parts and that’s it. He didn’t get to the title track or the last two songs off the album, which were bigger highlights than a couple of the songs he reviewed.
MJNation so you only want a review from some guy who will like anything? Seems like you don’t want to be critical at all
Even though i love the album, I agree with the interview and all the complains, but that doesn't stop me from repeating the album till i get mad of it.
Thanks dude, that's very cool!
Tbh, when this dude reviews an album that's out of the DeathMetal genre, I always take with a massive grain of salt. Same thing with anything from this channel. Just seems so one-sided at times with it's albums reviews.
Alex Bent is a fucking animal on drums
Damn right he is!
Hell yeah, my guy, Brad and Trivium! (I personally loved this album) but the new Bell Witch LP has got me pumped!
VΞGΛEidolon whats the problem with genres ?
they help us recognize certain tipes of subgenres and genres of music.
New drummer on this album is amazing. Feels like drums are the most exciting in this album.
Drums are 100% the sickest part of this.
the drumming of this album is so ultimately nice!
Agreed. Definitely the stand out for me.
You were right, your luck ran out this week as far as albums, but still love the reviews keep them coming!
Thanks dawg! I'll keep 'em coming, even if it isn't my favourite album to listen to.
Hell ya dude. What heavier bands do you like? I can try and give you some recommendations.
Thank you for pointing that out to me! Now I know. Appreciate the insight, sincerely!
Trivium kind of came back. Some of the songs remind me shogun. The rest are kind of what they did after Shogun. Overall I'm happy with this record. Bent is extremely good drummer. I hope they won't fire him as well.
This drummer is the best thing to happen to the band in ages.
Aggressive Tendencies I hope they won't fire him as well. He is really that good
Yes, shogun was where they should have kept it going.
Agreed...were definitely an important early band for getting me into heavier metal. Thanks for watching. Still hoping for the next step to Shogun...
I've listened to it. It's ass, and I didn't need Brad to tell me that (which he didn't since he said he actually liked it)
The reason he didn't scream on the last album is cuz he blew out his voice
Glad you made that comment about Shogun. That was a great album and wish they expanded on that sound. Instead, we got three additional albums I skimmed through once. I'll give this a listen though.
I'll never understand ditching that sound. So weird. Thanks for watching!
I hope they go full death metal....been waiting for them to do something anywhere near the intensity of Shogun.
the clean vocals sound too commercial nowadays, whereas on Shogun they almost sounded like Ihsahn's old school Emperor clean vocals at times
I hope they don't. Death metal scene is trash.
@@karljonson3287 Nah, It's really fuckin good. You're just to biased to actually put effort into finding awesome bands.
Your reviews keep getting better (all of Banger's reviews actually). Thanks for the great content!
Thanks Igor! Much love. Also nice Sepultura picture ;)
Thank you so very much, my dude. Definitely a return to form for them.
Thank you for voicing my feelings with that Betrayer beginning....
SUCH A BUZZKILL! Glad I ain't the only one who hears that. Thanks for watching.
I like the idea of it, but yeah, it sounds too thin and kinda ruins the short buildup from that awesome drum fill.
Thanks for watching, man! Thank you for respecting my opinion despite disagreeing with some of it.
This is the first Trivium album I've appreciated since Shogun. Also, what's wrong with Deafheaven Brad? :( They're my happy day band!
Really missed out of the "Thrown Into Fire" track on this album
Your support means the world. I'll blue shell those mother fuckers.
To be honest, Trivium has never really been on my radar, I had no idea they had so many albums...I didn't even think they were still active...
Just trucking around in the mainstream area in which they operate, I guess!
Cheers, Antoine. I'll listen back to Silence with the focus being on production.
I didn't have any problems with he trem-piicking riff , but the mellow, plodding kickv drum and vocal part that followed was not good.
I agree that Ascendancy and Shogun are their best(Shogun being my favorite and in between its hit or miss, but I hope they stick with this going forward and tweak at it a bit along the way
Thank you for watching Jason!
Good review, you're funny Brad. Keep going!
Thanks so much homie!
Thanks so much homie!
I have tried for years to get into Trivium, but really only their first one is the one I can really dig. Solid review man!
Edit: F dat blue shell!
Thanks Jonathan. The blue shell is OP as hell!
I don't think he really gets it.
I agree, but I think they could have used a bit of focus on the album. Next time, perhaps, they'll nail it.
Best album since Shogun! Amzing from start to finish! This is one of my favorite albums of 2017.
Solid review Brad!
Thank you Jacob!
I love your reviews, they are so entertaining.
I for one really dig this album but entertaining as always.
I agree with you in that Trivium is a very hit and miss band
both In Waves and Vengance Falls about half the songs on those albums are great and half those songs are so so, this making those 2 albums only so so overall
I also agree with you in that their last album Silence In The Snow should have stayed silent because in my opinion it is their worst album
where I strongly disagree with you is in your comment about The Crusade because I do not think that The Crusade was a dud, sure it did not dies as well as Shogun did, but it did not do bad either and personally The Crusade is my favourite album by Trivium
Fair enough, maybe I need to revisit The Crusade with a more open mind. It's been a while since I heard it and I've grown to appreciate more things since.
Trivium albums ranked
1. Shogun
2. The Crusade
3. Ascendancy
4. The Sin and the Sentence
5. Ember to Inferno
6. In Waves
7. Silence in the Snow
8. Vengance Falls
I loved this album (as well as everything else) I got a chance to hang out with them and listen to some of the albums. They are honestly awesome and Matt is such a awesome guy.
Please someone review the new Sarke album and any Ringworm album! That would be some high quality watching! Thanks again Banger tv.
Love me some Ringworm.
Can we get a whole video of you just playing mario kart? Not even gameplay, just watching you play it.
I will bring this idea up. I support it wholly. Me playing Mario Kart, while listening to metal? YEP!
Wow this review is spot on, and the first 2 albums + Shogun are the best ones for me
Thanks Matthew! Glad you dig it.
For me Shogun is Trivium's magnus opus, then Ascendancy and The Sin and the Sentence is a return to form. I just hope they stay on track, their next work could be immense.
Keep the good work Brad! I've always find your reviews very interesting even not agreeing with you everytime.
Thank you so much! It means so much to me that people can appreciate my reviews even if they don't agree with my verdict - maybe even more than when people just like them because I echo their thoughts. You rule!
I definitely agree with Meshuggah comparison.
So happy to see objective professionals doing album reviews...
I fully advocate for people to make their own opinion up, just happy that people like to pay attention to mine.
Seriously screw this review this album gets better with every listen and in my opinion is one of the greatest albums of the 2010s
I don't get how people dislike this review tbh, thought it was great and very honest
Only just been introduced to this channel and I love it.
Would love to hear a review of Dyscarnate's new album "With All Their Might"
Welcome!
Love that band!
This band has always been hit n miss for me. but after checking out this review I am going to check this so album out. afterwards, I will blast Gorguts and Meshuggah!
Hell yeah, give the album a shot...it's pretty decent! But ya, Gorguts and Meshuggah kill it!
The Deafheaven crowd... oh no i've been called out
Man, I like Deafheaven too! But a lot of the band's fans are generally just flirting with metal, not full-on fans.
lol I actually hate deafheaven
David King demiurge?
I will check that song out to see if I hear it. Thanks dudes!
Great honest review
Thanks so much man!
