- My Mortal Kombat review, technically Mortal Kombat 9 review, kicks off the first episode for Video Games at the Movies month! A month were I'll be completed games that have been adapted into feature films, starting with Mortal Kombat. Now this entry into the franchise is the one that turned everything around in 2011. Classic characters, story mode that time travels, revamped fighting system, and a great tag system. Let's jump into this popular fighting game!

You know Gerard, while the stripper dance taunts ARE a bit much, there's actually some ACTUALLY decent reasons the women characters wear such skimpy outfits; first off, they don't restrict the wearer's movement, and second, they're much BETTER for CONSERVING the essential stamina, as they're a MINIMAL amount of dead weight on their body, that allows body heat that'd otherwise be RETAINED, to VENT, and the wind they make by moving so fast to touch their skin; BOTH of which allow them to keep cool while fighting.
So now that you know that there's actually a LOGICAL, NON fanservice oriented reason for them to wear them, maybe you can allow yourself to ENJOY seeing the women characters wear those skimpy outfits.
We've all had about 10 years to see them. it's all good, bro.

Sonic- sama2002 mk11 and injustice 2 are a bit of a sketchy completion because it’s all just krypt rng and waiting for the right towers to show up to get the shit you don’t have

Lol. MK11 is MUCH MUCH easier to complete. You have to play it less. And there are only about 3 trophies that are somewhat Grindy. You can literally put the A.I to play out and they will basically get half the trophies.

I feel that is different though. MK9 was retelling the original story.. MK12 will start a brand new story. It was the conclusion of the trilogy MK9, MKX and MK12.. now it's time for a new story. I'm ok with that.

Facts!
Games like this show how the Completionist journey just isn’t as applicable to competitive games. Being a Completionist is in many ways a solo endeavor, so fighters and others that see their greatest utility in multiplayer will have a harder time meeting the mark almost by design. The completion experiment has value to be sure, it just doesn’t surprise me that games like this are less worth the full price of completion, especially when the arbitrary 50 achievement rule stands to produce some pretty funky hurdles that as you said gauge the lifetime of the game as opposed to marathon playtime. Reminds me of Skyrim for similar reasons. Well played though.

This is still my favorite MK game. I was saddened that the more modern ones removed the tag battles. One Saturday afternoon, I and five of my other friends played the story mode and passed the controller after each fight. The story mode was actually good and went back through some of the best fights in the series past. It almost felt like you didn't have to replay the old ones just to get the whole story, because of the way they had you play through the franchises history. Yes, the story could get a bit cheesy but it was to be expected from a story based on fighting. I had a lot of great memories and hours with this game, and the Mk games since this one haven't been as fun for me or my friends.
That undiscovered patreon ad was goddamn glorious.

well completing armageddon is super easy tho, simply finding all 60 relics in konquest mode unlocks literally everything in game

More like setting himself up for disappointment. There's a few games I've hundred percent completed just due to it being a really good really fun game but forcing yourself to complete every game in the end makes you despise the game. There's a few games that are really good that he's played that he ended up disliking because of the tedious repetitive tasks he has to do just to complete the game. He sets him self up for disapointment
Nice to see you complete a game that is hard to 100%. Now to see you complete a rhythm game or two since they're typically hard to beat if you're a completionist and preferably the easier to complete ones such as the Persona Dancing games.

Couldn't disagree more about the story mode. It is the benchmark for fighting games. Absolutely incredible.
I loved this game at launch and i played it for a few years after. One of my first competitive fighting games, and i met some really cool friends from it. Easily a Finish it, at least, but i can see play it because you burned yourself out on those cheevos.
And Kiwis are the go to fruit, strawberry and banana being close seconds 🥝🍓🍌

EDIT: So far, Max Payne was right lol. I thought he already did Uncharted 4, which is why I said Lost Legacy (which I still hope he does), but it looks like he’s doing Uncharted 4.
I'm surprised he hasn't done Doom 2016 yet, maybe he'll do it in the lead up to the release of Doom Eternal? The single player achievements are a breeze save for 1 or 2 hard ones, and the online stuff is tough, but with his crew/fans really shouldn't be much trouble.
Rob Noire Gaming he did DOOM 1993 before, so I’m guessing he’ll do DOOM II next.

A lot of the newer characters from the 3D Era don't deserve the hate they get. There were a lot of cool ones. They just needed to be handled better.

it did, it's actually the beginning of the modern Netherealm Studios way of setting up their story modes. He can dislike it all he wants but it's the story modes that people like best about these games as far as the general audience is concerned.

The problem mostly comes that the character design is super lazy. If you compare the MK11 girls with the MK9 girls, the costumes for MK11 are better by a mile.

@@jacksithlord1301 Character used to be a brainwashed hero, killed herself to get away from Shao Kahn. Now is full on evil, killed her own husband to get with Shao Kahn and is arguably the most despicable character in the franchise.
That's a pretty massive retcon, coming after they already retconned her two games ago. Doesn't seem like they are proud of her history if they turned her into the polar opposite of what she was for the rest of the franchise.

It makes sense for Kitana, Jade, Mileena, Sindel and Skarlet to dress like that because of Outworld's culture. That said, there's no reason for Sonya to be wearing a cutoff police vest with no undershirt or bra. I also think Sheeva should be wearing a bit more (armor and stuff), like in her alternate costume

I love this channel, but I'm skeptical about this whole thing as well.
For the skeptical people, he doesn't just start a game from the beginning of week, he rarely does. He will play most of his time on a certain game he's focussed one, but he definitely does prep work or just general playing before that. Take a look at his FFX video where he (sort off) talks about this.

Other than how fatalities were handled, Mortal Kombat Armageddon was the BEST Mortal Kombat. When Jirrard says it had every character, he means it. Its also the only Mortal Kombat with a Kreate a fighter mode. There was also an awesome Mario- esque racing game and tetris style puzzle game. Both are fun as hell.
The fatalities may have been bland but every character had several fighting stances unique to that fighter, many with their own weapon. Combos were unique to each of the 70+ charaters, plus their special move.
When it comes to fatalities i found and of the combos that included ripping off the enemies arms and beating them with them, was a good enough finisher for me.

I love it too but it’s the most flawed out fo the 3. The story mode just ends up with character creating a situation in order to fight it’s pretty bad in terms of narrative. Good thing mkx and 11 actually got it down
To be fair it was basically just retelling Mk 3 lore, it was okay but definitely not the best. Definitely beats reading the text on the snes or arcade version of mk 3 :p

Lore wise, that skin is actually kinda cool. Mileena has always been a bit of a crazy story. This was a retcon game and I guess that skin is like a playable trophy for online to throw in your friends' faces.
