  • Catching BIG bass on Lake Winnipesaukee! My friend Andrew and I hit up Winni for the firs trip of this season back in the end of June, and we found ourselves a couple of BIG largemouth bass! The goal was to hit the water and find a quality sized largemouth bass and smallmouth bass on the heart of New Hampshire's most famous lake, and we were successful! The post spawn bite was definitely on at this time, and the lake treated us very well!

    If anyone is wondering what we're talking about when we mention culling out bass, Andrew and I are doing a year long "tournament" with a few of our friends for biggest smallmouth & largemouth, as well as 5 biggest largemouth and smallmouth. That 5+ definitely helped him...the jerk. 🤣

    My God! What a beautiful lake. We are going deep into another drout cycle here in CA. . .I envy your stunningly wooded Eastern lakes. Chunky bass too.

      Thanks bud. We're exceptionally fortunate to be so close to some beautiful fisheries not only in New Hampshire, but many other spots in New England as well. We've been traveling a lot more since this video, and the number of places that are even more beautiful than Winnipesaukee has been eye opening. That's saying something, given how amazing the Winnipesaukee area is.

    I loved and hated watching this at the same time. I should be at Lake Winnipesaukee right now but our vacation got canceled. First time in 3 years I haven't made it up there during the summer. Love seeing some bigs come out of there though!

    You guys are rocking it! Can I ask what are some good worm colors for drop shot and senkos in your area? I have family that are kayak fishing trying to give them a hand. We tournament fish nor cal so we are familiar with techniques. Just looking for colors. In our area robo worm in margarita mulilator and prism Shad for drop shot and number 925 and 411 for senkos.

      @@timlittlefield8486 There is a long line of cabbage in Paugus to the west of the island. Also around the island there used to be milfoil that they didn't spray. I moved to Texas 3 years ago so I'm not sure if they caught on. Lee's Mill and Fish Cove used to be really good as well.

    Question for the local bass guys: I have a 40lb braid setup as well as a 10lb flouro set up, fishing for whatever bites but mostly smallmouth/largemouth. (I also have numerous rods in 6, 4, and 2 but those are my lighter ones...) I've been outta the bass game for some years now after living in Washington for 10 years where I fished mostly high mountain lakes and streams for trout using 2# flouro. I just moved to Southern NH. Can I get away with the 10# test on casting gear for my hardbait set up...cranks, spinners, jerks? The only change I would make us upsizing to 15#, but I had 15 on previously and the memory was wayyy more so I downsized. Or mono? Any and all info would be a huge help thanks all!

    • @ReelNorthernBass
      @ReelNorthernBass  Před 2 lety

      Hey buddy. 10 lb straight fluoro is fine for you cranking and light duty jigs or soft plastic applications. 12-15 lb fluoro is better for heavier jigs and soft plastic techniques, especially when fishing around harder structure like rocks and docks, as fluoro has the best abrasion resistance properties of all lines. For heavier things like a spinnerbait, I like 17-20 lb line. You're only really going to get one season worth of use out of any fluoro before memory becomes a big issue. Seaguar Red Label is a pretty good value line for all of your needs. Then if you get their Abrazx, it's a bit more supple and won't be as susceptible to memory, but a bit more expensive. Sunline FC Sniper is also really good line too!

    • @ReelNorthernBass
      @ReelNorthernBass  Před 2 lety +1

      Not really unfortunately, almost every single inch of shoreline is private property. BUT, depending on how frisky you're feeling, people in the state of NH only own up to the high water line, as designated by the state. So, when they start to draw the lake down in the fall, it's perfectly legal to walk along the shoreline of the entire lake where there used to be water, and you're on public property.

    • @deline8ed619
      @deline8ed619 Před 2 měsíci

      I do this on a couple local lakes near me in fall, after draw down, and no boat access.
