Chafing is the result of friction that occurs when skin rubs against itself or clothing. Chafing on the run commonly happens to your thighs, armpits or nipples and, as anyone who has endured an excruciating post-run shower on raw skin knows, prevention is what is needed. So in addition to Lube and running tights, I cut this off to prevent thigh chafing when running.

Very sensible advice! I have had some serious chaffing issues and you are the only one who recommends taking away the liner. My liners were an issue😡Thanks buddy👍

Running shorts, no liner - from new or cut out, is the solution. No need for compression underneath. Just lube if needed.

  • @WVRunningDon

Nobody touches my Body Glide either John. LOL. I think I only have one pair of shorts with a liner. I'll have to see how your advice works for me.

I hate liners in shorts. I’m a super casual runner (20-30miles a week)
    I prefer a pair compression shorts under a 7 or 9inch short

Have you compared "2 Toms" to body glide? I've had great success with 2 Toms on my feet for 15+ mile distances but body glide seems to wear off.

So these "tights" are different that boxer briefs? My upper thighs rub together and literally burn holes in my shorts. Even the expensive shorts have developed holes.

    I‘ve been prepping for a 10k.
Ran 10 miles tonight because I was feeling good. I usually average 6-10 miles a day in 70•+ weather.
Tonight was about 65•.I didn’t even break a sweat.
Yet When I got home, I realized that my boxers were bloody.
Normally I wear compression shorts but this time I was wearing normal boxers.
They were a lot more loose than my usual compression shorts and I feel like that had something to do with it.

I find the seems of my undershorts make more chafing.I started to turn my shorts inside out with all the stitching to the outside this was very effective. And i wanna say if you get the chafing badly it is agonising or at least for me it was.

I just got some compression undies from target and cut my liner. Those liners are trash, really. I do 2 hrs on treadmill and that liner flat seam was grating the ole grundle. Focusing on the tightest best compressions first is the answer. Thanks for the video!

    • @motivationtheoryrunning
      @motivationtheoryrunning  Před 2 lety +1

Yeah the liners may work for a 5k or 10k...not for any distance more in my opinion. It is 8:10am and I need to be running but I am here reading comments and drinking coffee and your "grating the ole grundle" got me good...😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Ladies, if anyone has ideas about cutting down on chafing underneath your sports bra chest band, feel free to chime in. I haven't been able to stop that from happening especially in races that are 10+ miles, and very hot. I am developing a permanent scar under my boobs on my rib cage at this point.

There are lighter oil products and heavier ones. You probably need a heavier (thicker) one. Run Guard to me lasts a bit longer and so does Gurney Goo. But Gurney Goo smells very strongly of tea-tree oil and is probably better for feet - it's great for rainy races. You might also try KT tape.

Ouch!! I get it from the bra under my arms. Vicious stuff. I've started using the Chub Rub stick, it seems to work well. Good luck!!

Clean your skin very well (it has to be completely oil free and dry) and put kinesiotape on there. It sticks very well, is flexible and breathable and perfectly does the job of taking all the rubbing instead of your skin. Cut to the size you need, round the edges and rub them onto your skin well and they should stay there for days 😊

i never run with shorts that do not have the liner. Some of those are gauze thickness, and i enjoy the closeness to nothing.

The best tip I have for anyone wanting to stop chafing between their legs is to wear sports underwear that goes half way down your thighs.
