Get my copy tomorrow can't wait 🤗 still the best Superman film my dad still remembers watching it in cinema back in 1978 he loved it and great review 👍 😀
I was thrilled when I first saw these steelbooks announced but I was so disappointed when the details of the disc content was revealed. No director's cut of the first movie, o Superman Returns and missing a whole load of extras from the old blurays? As much as I like the packaging I think I'll stick with my bluray boxset and separate release of the TV cut.
I totally understand. The picture quality is an improvement, that’s really the main selling point of this set. I do have the blu-Ray set as well and the TV cut of the first movie.
@@Dinosreviews the packaging for the uk version of this set says the first movie is 151 minutes? Is it a printing error or is it the directors cut? The US version is listed as the 143 minute Theatrical cut.
I'd love to know how whoever designed this didn't stop to think maybe, just maybe, they should have used that extra steelbook for the Donner cut and forego the pointless booklet/lenticular/COA. They have 3 films with the S and a Roman numeral on the back, but then Superman II sticks out like a sore thumb with artwork for the theatrical on one side and the Donner cut on the other. One of these things is not like the others.
Thank you. All I can say is they all sounded great and looked really good and they felt to me like they were an improvement on the Blu-Rays. I don’t really feel I’m expert enough to go fully in depth. I would recommend checking out some of the 4K websites like Hi-Def digest who will post screen captures.
Great review thanks for sharing, I wish they would have had the Remastered 4k masters on the regular Bluray too, their limiting the amount of people who would buy the Box Set, not many people have 4k bluray players yet. Oh well, I guess they don't like making money. I wonder when they will but the HBO Max remasters of Lois and Clark The New Adventures of Superman on Blu ray?
@@Dinosreviews For some movies eh, other ones like with the older Batman movies on 4k 1989 to 1997, they also put that new remaster on Bluray, wierd hun?
@@Dinosreviews No biggy, it's odd, my friend got the 4k set of the Batman movies and gave me the normal Blurays that came with it and I compared them to the old Bluray's that came out ages ago and the new Blurays that came with the 4k set were remastered from the 4kblu rays.
Okay two-part question one are these movies available in Blu-ray form if you don't want to get the 4K versions? Thanks and two why did it take so long to get a re-release of the Christopher Reeves Superman movies? Thanks
If it hasn't got Christopher Reeve in it then it's not worth getting. I will never accept Superman returns as a sequel to Superman II as different actors played much loved characters played wonderfully by Margot Kidder, Gene Hackman and Christopher Reeve. To say that Superman returns is in the same time line as the Reeve films is quite insulting. How can Superman and the others have a completely different face?....are they all time lords like Doctor Who that have the ability to regenerate?. I consider Superman returns as a stand alone film with a pathetic attempt to make it similar to the Christopher Reeve films. Nobody will ever replace him, nobody has the uncanny likeness to the comics Reeves had.
That would be Superman II the Theatrical cut, when Lois gets back from Paris. The scene is just after Zod, Ursa and Non escape the Phantom Zone and fly towards the moon.
@@Dinosreviews I Thank you, I was one of those kids that my dad took me to the theaters. In return I took my daughter in 2013. Just can’t beat Christopher Reeves.
@@DanKeatis Maybe something like that might make a comeback, now that straight to streaming is becoming less common. I would prefer a digital copy with the 4K disc, rather than getting another blu-ray that I’ll never use.
@@Dinosreviews Agreed, the 1080p blu rays are unfortunately surplus for me too. Great review of the set, though. It's a shame Superman Returns isn't in here, though. Although I guess it would need some serious HDR and upscaling given the source material.
Not sure if you read comic books but the Clark Kent Christopher Reeve did was his own thing. That's not how Clark is in the comics. The way Dean Cain, Tom Welling and Henry Cavill play the role is more in line with how Clark actually is in the comics. I hope we don't get a bumbling doofus because even Christopher Reeve got tired of playing the role that way. The Superman '78 comic is based on the original idea for Superman 3 & the whole bottled city of Kandor was actually in the main canon comics at the time. They are basically "modernizing" that classic story in that book.
I do have the set too my only disappointment is all those extras from the DVD set from 2006 and Blu-ray set in 2011 are nowhere here. Amazing Story of Superman, You Will Believe documentary, none of them are on here.
Got mine. They did a nice job with this set. It’s well done

Its a great looking set. Love these kinda sets. Might play the long game on this set though and hopefully will get it at a lower price.
It’s worth a shot. I waited for the Hobbit steelbook set to go down in price before I bought it.
Great unboxing and review Dino 🔥👏

That's a neat book in the set however WB should have included Supergirl 4k. Great review! Thanks for sharing.
I agree. I forgot about the Supergirl film. It has flaws, but I still enjoyed it.
Excellent review.❤Going to purchase mine tomorrow.

This. 💯 This. 1, 3 and 4 have matching rear artwork.... 2..not so much 🤦♂️
Does it matter really lol 😆
I got this for £60 from Amazon Italy which has some slight differences to the UK version.
Great Superman 4K set. Could you do a review of the movies. Possibly review on sound and picture quality and upload scenes? I have also subbed.

Love Superman The movie
Still wish returns was included. Great set although the dvd box collectors set back years ago gives it a run.
I have the Blu-Ray set with Superman Returns. I was also lucky enough to meet Margot Kidder a few years ago and have her sign it.

Yes there are Blu-Ray versions of these movies that have been available for a long time.

Is it a steelbook, or is it a matt material? Also, was there Japanese language switching in 4K?
They are glossy steelbooks. Sorry, There are no Japanese audio or subtitles.

Hello...spanish subtitles in 4k discs???
The only ones listed are English, German and Italian for the 4K discs.
I’ve checked the disc. There are Spanish subtitles both Castiliano and Latino on all four movies.
Aren't u suppose to get digital codes with it to i know i pre-order it for the u.s. version at it shows 4k blu-ray,blu-ray, and digital.
No digital codes with the UK version. Digital codes are something I haven’t seen for some time on the UK 4Ks I’ve bought.

Superman is "super". North American TV's are NTSC. European TV's are encoded with "PAL format". Some countries have TV's encoded with "SECAM".
