    When you get the chance, please talk about how you engraved the helm. And adding horsehair tails for Rohan style. Drilling for rivets would be helpful.

      Roxanne Victor those are some good details! We may be able to do some of those after we finish the overview series!

      That may happen, but it would be a huge endeavor. We shall see!

      We probably won’t get detailed like that until after we have completed the more broad subjects!

    I really like this series!! Cant wait to see more. One video suggestion, you guys should do a video on cloaks and how you wear quivers with them.

  • @MetalVikingBatmanfan1989

    The nasal helm with the added face guard, you could as cheek guards to it and chainmail at ghe back aswell

    I used to wear whatever was spare in my reenactment group, then i made my own to my specifications. I got a kettle helm pattern and made it in 1.2mm (I think) mild steel. It has a kinda rough finish, but it sits on my head well and doesnt shift around because i made the strapping attach at 4 points instead of 2, which was always a point of annoyance when i borrowed the group kettle helm which had 2 a point strap.

    Would it be possible to do a behind the scenes video on making costumes?

    What do u think of the 12th through 14th century great helmet in particular templar Knight vs the sugar loaf

    Do you typically just glue the lining/padding in?

    • @fellandfair
      @fellandfair  Před 5 lety

      Kim Walker post padding sets come with Velcro pads that have sticky one one side to attach to the helmet.

    I’d really love to see the Epic Armory sugarloaf helmet, do you have any of those in your collection? I’d love to buy one but I’m worried I won’t like it.

  • @Elvarill
    @Elvarill Před 5 lety +2

    Do you have any recommendations for very thin padding? I ordered a helmet years ago that I have modified and I love, but it was a bit on the small side so I had to rip all the padding out and have only put minimal back in to cover anything stabbing my head.

    • @fellandfair
      @fellandfair  Před 5 lety

      dagniranum a thin arming cap may help. You can also get batting from a fabric store and cut pieces to fit.

  • @ValgusOrdo
    @ValgusOrdo Před 4 lety +1

    Do you have any plans to sell that leather H-strap you designed for the Raven helm in your store, or perhaps do a video on how to make and install one? I'd gladly do either.

    • @fellandfair
      @fellandfair  Před 4 lety +1

      Unfortunately we don’t sell the strap. Basically what I did was buy a modern one, cut it up to make a pattern and then made it out of leather.

    Awesome informative video! I always asked myself if the visored barbuta would fit with a pair of glasses. I have a medium sized head and I wonder if it would fit.
    The problem I have is that I cannot wear contact lenses and I don’t want to show my glasses. Do you think about a full face helm that would hide them?
    Thank you very much from France!

    • @fellandfair
      @fellandfair  Před 4 lety +1

      CTK 2611 hi! Honestly it really depends on the size and shape of your head, glasses and helmet, so I can’t really make a recommendation without all that!

  • @pike7090

    How did you darken and engrave bits of the LOTR helmet? I feel like you talked about in in some other video...
    Also
    What sort of petina and sealer did you use?
    (If you don’t mind my asking)

    • @fellandfair
      @fellandfair  Před 4 lety

      Pike so the engraving is already there, but we use mirror finish silver paint pen to make it really pop. We us Black Magic metal patina to darken the helm.

      fellandfair thank you for the information!
      I found this nice Éomer helmet online and planned on getting it and altering it

    • @pike7090
      @pike7090 Před 4 lety

      fellandfair is applying it with things like a sponge or paintbrush fine, or is there something specific you use?
      Also, on the subject of the patina, is there a specific brand you used?
      (Also also, do you recommend sealing it with a clear coat or no?)

    if a person were to use a Burgonet Helmet, metal cuirass, and an arming jacket, what century are you looking at?

      @@fellandfair Thanks... The reason I asked is that I've seen in some TV and Movies that had Cavalry troops, the use of a Burgonet, and a metal curiass, with a colorful shirt, dark pants and maybe knee high boots...So not having access or knowledge to armor, and who wore what in a particular century, then the question...
