Right there with ya on that. DEATH ANGEL/FORBIDDEN was my 1st thrash show, 89/90 I believe. Yeah I was 14, and my life changed that night. I was already ingesting all the albums I could, dissecting the inner artwork sleeves, etc, reading all the lyrics and learning about every other metal band that I could, through promos, and even by the shirts the band members would wear of other bands lol. Seeing Death Angel/Forbidden at Allentown Airport Music Hall Pennsylvania , man I went on a blitzkrieg of shows nearly every weekend for years haha. The second show was Kreator/Morgoth. So the first band you and I saw, though in separate states on opposite coasts, they opened the door for so many more. I even ended up playing in my own self written bands, tours, records, takes, CDs and all. Hearing forbidden turn that stage into a rumbling rumble of thunder started it all up. Cheers man
Maaaaaan I hear THAT. and with Rob, I have always been baffled that he seems so effortless in his powerful vokill attack, but then he would rare back, let out those high end shrieking howls, my jaw would drop instantly!!! He reminded folks he could actually sing
Absolutely 💯 agree!!! I have a big ol box of my vhs days ... Videos of headbangers ball, my own bands playing live/rehearsals, and tons of bands playing their sets. The era has a whole different energy... Created THEE most loyal frenzied supports foreverrrrrrrrrrr
Opened up for them at The Stone in SF back in the day. Really great guys! Craig is one of the best metal songwriters around. Humbled to have shared a stage with them.
When I was 16, I listened to the Forbidden Evil over and over. One of my favorite albums. This was in 1988. Great time for thrash. I got to see them open for Death Angel.
Saw them back in 1989 they opened for Exodus was a great show.My friend I went with and I met Forbidden after the show outside there tour bus on the way to our car.Great down to earth guys who appreciate there fans.We drank a few beers with them and talked music ect.
I'm wondering if it's you that I ran into on a different video thread ... But it's awesome that you and I saw them the same your. DEATH ANGEL//FORBIDDEN was my first bigger venue metal show ever (I had seen some d.i.y. metal/punk/hardcore shows prior but this was the real deal). 1989 Airport Music Hall Allentown Pennsylvania. You may the The fella that posted to a comment of mine elsewhere, telling me about the forbidden show and how Exodus ended their set with "Toxic Waltz", sending the whole floor section into a mass frenzy lol. If I'm mistaking you for someone else... Still, so sick that we saw these guys in the same timeframe. Here we r decades later, still appreciating this badass stuff
I also saw Exodus and Forbidden in 1989. It was in LA, Hollywood I think? Wasted Youth was on the bill too. I actually met Gene Hoglan at the show. Great times!
@@theesweetscience2084 I saw Forbidden/Death Angel at the Warfield in early 90's with my then girlfriend and sat next to Louie Clemente. What a great show.

This band was freakin on fire, man they are seriously rocking! I remember seeing this guys in SF (The Stone), The Omni (Oakland), and One step beyond, (Santa Clara)
Death Angel//Forbidden was my first show as a 14 yr old headbanger ... Impacted my life literally forever lol. I would have had an injured neck if I got to see em 3! Times, on their coast home area. Sick brother!!
Great band. Big time kick ass performance. Seen them several times. Russ is just an incredible guy to meet and have fun with. Sorry to hear that he is not doing well.
It really is. If you think about the big 4, they do fill the thrash spectre. I guess for Forbidden's part, it's hard to compete with Metallica in (general) the late 80's popularity-wise. A bit too late in the game, I guess.
So true. They literally impacted my life to the FULLEST... DEATH ANGEL//FORBIDDEN was my first metal show ever, I was 14 (maybe 15?). I have given them massive credit my whole life. I hear exactly what you mean.
God damn Glen I had no idea 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Glen Alvelais and my sister where good friends in Jr High my first time hearing him after all these years damn i missed out you smoked those strings brother
1991. I was standing in line to see Forbidden and Death Angel at the outdoor Cuban Club in Tampa Fl. My friends and I all came to see two of our favorite bands. Killer scene in Tampa then. High winds rain and lightning. If memory serves, apparently the rig supporting the lights came down in the wind. Show cancelled. No refund. Oh well, i think it as about $14. But Forbidden was in their prime as they were here. Never got to see them again.
I saw the saaaaame tour! Death Angel//Forbidden, and I think it was MORGOTH that opened!!! Airport music Hall Pennsylvania. Sick to hear that ya were out there checking it out in Florida
The album version of "Through Eyes of Glass" is an absolute terror for my to try to play. Then I heard this live version on "Raw Evil" as a kid and couldn't comprehend how the guitar players could possibly play it at this tempo...still blows my mind. It looks like the guy with the red strat is using economy picking to pull it off, but the other guy seems to be alternate picking it. Unbelievable
Man, I wore this tape out in my nascent metalhead days...this set and Dark Angel's blew the fucking roof off of that place...and the volume out of my TV haha. Simply calling either band "thrash" diminishes the depth of their talent...the compositions here are as beautiful as they are brutal...
To be fair, I think it's just Russ who comes in a beat too early after Paul throws in a weird fill. I forgot how intense they were. I saw them on the Forbidden Evil tour at some pokey dive in Cardiff, UK, called 'The Venue'.
But they came back in without a scratch. like fucking proffessionals!!! Didn't seem to phase the crowd a bit either. Probably because unlike today, the audience wasn't full of a bunch of prog snobs.
Opening for Sacred Reich. Now that’s funny. Being pretty much from Phx, Sacred Reich we’re just that. Sacred to us. But Forbidden rolled SR up and smoked those fuckers.
Seriously dude?! That honestly was unwarranted. 1. Anthrax, Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer are the Big Four because they are the bands that pioneered the genre. They started the whole thing. 2. One of their biggest influences was "Metallica". Why do you think Metallica got so big and even today still hold high relevancy? It's because they inspired and influenced countless musician. It's people like you that discredit the Metal Community. You don't like like Metallica or Anthrax, fine whatever, not everybody does. But show some respect dude, or at the very least keep your hateful comments to yourself.
