  • Summer travel is always a challenge, but summer 2022 travel is on another level. Airport security lines are outside the building, airlines are canceling tons of flights, and luggage is going missing forever. It's the perfect storm. We are all traveling again, but the travel industry is struggling to ramp up to meet the demand. And it's going to get worse before it gets better. In this video I'm going to share some tips to help you avoid being the statistic that arrives at the airport with "plenty of time" only to find out that's not early enough!

Never check anything valuable in your luggage (cameras, jewelry, meds, anything that’s hard to replace, etc) & always travel with easy to put on shoes that’s closed toes. Love your channel & thanks Chris🌼🌝🌼

Hi Chris, I am legally blind so as such airports are about the only place where I may ask for accommodation when I travel. I always get an escort to the gate, and I tend to go faster through TSA even without TSA pre. Once I get to where I am going and I clear cusoms I use Google Maps to use the public transit. Worked like a champ when I went to Japan in December of 2019, and it should work when I go to Singapore in October. By the way My flight has a good percentage that is still empty, and a lot of hotels are running deep discounts to get travelers. So I can afford a four star hotel, at budget hotel prices. Obviously rental cars are never consideration for me, so I don't bother.

Getting there early - amen! My sister hasn't really done any international travel (only from NZ to Aussie) so she doesn't think it's needed... when I've flown within NZ with her, we've always only just got to the boarding gate on time. I feel like she'll get bit in the butt at some point in the future with the attitude of "I don't wana get there early"!

Amen on getting to the airport early. I've always tried to get there an hour sooner than what they recommend. The last time I flew out of orlando, it took nearly 2 hours just to get through the security line, not even counting getting on the tram and then having to find my gate, and of course by then, the gate had changed. Thank you always for such useful information Chris! 🤓

Unfortunately in 2022, my flight ✈️ home to San Francisco from San Diego Comic-con was canceled. I was able to rebook another flight 7 hours later into San Jose. Needless to say, it took me 10 hours to get home 🏡 from San Diego. The silver lining was the $150 voucher Alaska Airlines gave me for next time. I used that for my 2023 San Diego Comic-con flight. So my flight cost was cut in half. This year I will have a better plan if (God forbid) it happens again. I always love your videos! I agree with the kindness rule. It never hurts to be nice, besides you wouldn't want to be treated that way, would you? News to me that you can rebook in the airline lounge. Thank u 4 that tip.

When it comes to travel, chaos often ensues; however, these days with the cabin-fever-inflicted pandemic crowds on the loose things have gotten completely out of hand. But what really gets my goat are those barefaced airlines that change the rules on a dime, as they dang please, and with total impunity. Meanwhile, if the luck-forsaken flying public forgets to dot the shifting i's and cross the floating t's it will be slapped with massive penalties and uncivilized consequences.

Wow, so true as an inexperienced traveler many years ago I leisurely walked to my gate to board and was refused my flight to Germany. Chris you're so right. The plane was there however I was refused and was given a flight next day

Just did a 4 week roadtrip in the USA. Worried about housekeeping? Rent a car and stay in a different hotel every other day. Clean room everyday. Worked perfectly. May be difficult in high season though

My wife and I went to the Maldives earlier this year. The price round trip was about $1200 each on Emirates. We used our Marriott nights to stay for free at the W Maldives. If you haven’t been, it’s definitely needs to be a bucket list. It was cheaper than going to Hawaii for us and is the trip of a lifetime. Words cannot describe the beauty. Just a long trip to get there.
