Mate your spot on to talk about the price when you can clearly buy a big 550g block of cathedral cheese for £3.50 with a tesco club card, a loaf of bread anywhere from 75p and £1.50 depending on the bread, and then a pack of 4 415g tins of heinze beans for £3.75. £8.50 for the lot to make dozens of them toasties or buy 1 ready made for nearly half the price at £3.50. Complete gimmick/scam and a waste of money.🤦♂️😡
You're paying for convenience once again for stuff like this, still overpriced to hell though lol
lol I wouldn’t even buy the Heinz beans Tescos beans are good enough for me
@@MrGreenYeti You could probably go to a local cafe and pay the same price (or less) for similar, and you'd be paying for their leccy bill as part of that price, so it would be cheaper even if it was the same price.
@@andyhawkins9541 the only beans that come close to Heinz beans are Branston. All others don't even come close. That's just my opinion tho, each to their own.🤙
@@callumshaw902for me the Heinz beans are very very expensive and watery but definitely each to their own 👍
Daylight robbery. Making some profit on that crap 😂
Omg £3.50 for that! You can go to Aldi to pick up the essentials beans for 28p essentials bread for 37p & a packet of mature cheese for £1.99. Why would anyone want to pay £3.50 for two brands that are already expensive as it is.
Brand snobbery?
@@davidspear9790I think there are a lot of people out there who really cannot eat anything else. I wonder if it's a form of low-level autism at play because I know that this is one of the reasons people express why they buy Heinz - because their children's condition means they can't bring themselves to eat anything else. Makes me wonder if a lot of adults have undiagnosed disorders that stop them being able to switch brands or change diets, because think of all the people who will only ever buy a certain brand of food, only buy a certain brand of clothes or only go on holiday to the same place every year.
I might be overthinking but either way Heinz and other big brands are certainly exploiting people's loyalty at the very least.
Rather make me own as a nation today we are getting very lazy and for the price no way homemade is going to be tastier and alot frigging cheaper
@@neilthorley359 very true, it's kind of incredible that people could be so lazy that such a mundane item would need to be purchased ready-made
Soon as you roll your eyes mate we know it's a bummer no need to say a word, keep up the great work 👍
You can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. You can however charge people £3.50 for something that costs about 10p to produce. Designer toastie I suppose just like the overpriced clothes and trainers people are mind-washed into buying 😂
Greed. Pure greed.
It weighs around 170 grams. Overpriced crap. If only we could slice bread, open a can and grate cheese 😥
Oh my! All that extra *work!*😵
I refuse to pay the extortionate price for anything Heinz, and I don't think Cathedral City is that great either.
So you have probably guessed that I won't be buying it.
Excellent review as always, cheers.
Cheers Sly
The only product that Cathedral City/Iceland did that I really liked was the mini pizzas. They were only available for a few weeks, then discontinued.
Another good review Gareth and you are quite right to talk about the price. You can justify buying some of these gimmick products because if you were to buy all the individual ingredients and not use them all then financially it can make sense. In this instance though who doesn't have bread cheese and beans in their cupboard? And when you factor in that the taste isn't that brilliant then it becomes a no brainer. These companies are just trading on their names and to be quite honest now if I saw Heinz or Cathedral City on a product I would avoid it big time. Thanks again for the review Gareth I hope you have a good weekend.
Just will not buy Heinz
Home bargains do a brilliant mature cheddar for £1.99 g for 350g. It’s one of the nicest I’ve tasted. Strong too 👌🏼
All cathedral products are well overpriced... stay clear of them
As u so rightly said. Its a rip off , no way would i pay that for what i could make myself & cheaper xxx
Thanks - you’ve saved me £3.50. Just taken it off my shopping list 😂
I reckon anything with Cathedral City written on the packaging is going to be an absolute rip off. Cheesy beans on toast is so easy to make and really rather cheap, you would have to be either desperate or have more money than sense to purchase this product. Good review Gaz.
tastless beans and tastless cheese ,heinz must be the most overpriced crap ever. Branston for me .
I can make 12 of these:
1 x Block 400g of Supermarket Own Brand Cheddar Cheese = £3
4 x Cans of Tesco Baked Beans = £2
1 x Jar Tesco White Sauce = £1
2 x Loaves of White Farmhouse Bread = £3
TOTAL = £9 divided by 12 = 75p each and have plenty left over to make more sandwiches
COMPLETE RIP OFF THAT SANDWICH
Great video, I forgot the recipe for cheese and beans toasties, now I can start enjoying them again, what a time to be alive
I thank you again, yet another £3.50 saved, at this rate I will be able to get the bus into the town and back...
Never rated Cathedral City. Aldi extra mature fine. Why do people think Heinz baked beans are best?
Because for many years they *were* the best. It's the kind of brand loyalty which is passed down from parents to children - similar to how it was with Cadbury's, another case in point. All Heinz need to do, apparently, is top up that loyalty with marketing campaigns.
This rip off is so blatant though, I sincerely hope sales will be very poor.
I don't like Heinz beans or ketchup...it's too sweet...loads of sugar.
With Aldi beans you get a tin of beans - not sauce!
£3.50 for that! They must think we was born yesterday!! Thanks for taking one for the team!
When I worked in a café 20 years ago we made and sold these (without white sauce) so Iceland are a bit slow getting on the band waggon 😄
Thanks Gaz for a honest review 👍 I'm glad you mention the the price each time you review items, it helps me budget when I shop or have a treat 👍 I'd be putting a dollip of B. pickle on that toastie🤤😋
Lol 🗣️180😂
Have a lovely weekend Gaz ❤
You're welcome 😊
Around 6 years ago I was in Spain on holiday and In a local supermarket called Mercadona and they had peeled oranges on sale in a plastic box. I thought I'd seen it all but this is on a different level. The white sauce is a replacement for the lack of cheese on this thing. The mind boggles.
You're a top man Gaz. There's ALWAYS a bit of your posts that makes me laugh out loud. This time it was the 180. But you always make me smile.
Haha glad you like it
What an absolute joke you could make your own for 30p still there will be some mug punters willing to pay the price.
A up G Iceland sometimes sell rubbish food great vid as usual mate 🇬🇧👍
That could be the laziest product idea since liquid Weetabix...for those that can't be bothered to chew anything.
Price may be unimportant to some but it's crucial when evaluating the product. I appreciate you including all relevant information in your reviews, particularly nutritional label.
Great point!
Cathedral City cheese is awful, Bland and tasteless compared to seriously strong Cheese from iceland still doing 3 500g blocks for a tenner. Gaz it's my Bday tomorow 21 again 😆 Could you please do an actual cheese comparison, that would be epic, oh i forgot to add the other 33 years ion top lol, yeah bloody sad i get phissed the day before and sleep alday tomorrow on my bday
I like to go the local farm shop or butchers yes you get less for your £ but atleast your guaranteed quality
Not everyone likes strong tasting cheese (me for one). Cathedral is fine.
Good for you mate forget the shit in our country for a couple of days
Farmfoods do a nice block of cheese as well Collier's Celtic Mature. Have a happy birthday when it arrives, nah you are still young :)
@@louiseed1321Thank you 🍻
We all have bread, cheese and beans already in our fridges and cupboards, could knock up a MUCH better version in about 5 mins, will probably have a go for breakfast tomorrow! thanks for the review!
No worries yes make your own. Cheers pal.
Haha Gareth! Iceland deserved that review lol. Watching from Massachusetts and it was your last can of beans review that had me subscribe because you gave them hell about it as you should do. All I could think is you bought a beautiful strip steak from Aldi for that price…. Iceland must think their customers are nuts to offer that! Love your channel Gareth from the good to the bad! Cheers mate! 🍻
Cheers Rob, all the best mate.
But thanks Garth😊😊😊your amazing and always spot on 💞
You are so welcome Kerry
£3.50!!!! Now you’ve given us the ‘heads up’ anyone buying these needs their bumps read, only joking, No, Seriously, they do. But thousands will buy it.
Have you noticed that mature cheddar lately doesn’t taste as strong as it used to. It’s more medium flavour now. We’ve had to start buying the extra mature cheddar to get the flavour right.
"Vintage", ffs.
You do have lovely tips .. must be all these snacks
Start off mate mate by saying watching you makes me smile. Honest and truthful.
A good genuine guy by the looks.
2nd off where did you get your plates they're awesome, especially for someone who like gravy. It's a bowl plate 😄
Thanks for that, cheers
In the U.S. This toastie with Heinz baked beans and American cheese is $1.99 - about £1.50!
Hi Gareth, good tip I'll just walk past it in Iceland, I could not believe only a spoon full off beans I bet it's a quarter of a half tin of beans on there, I suppose it taste nice but for £3.50 like you say it cheaper to buy cheese ,bread and beans. Thanks for trying this out, Take care
Cheers Shaun
Thanks for trying this, so that I don't have to.
Any time!
I was doing my weekly food shopping yesterday and saw cathedral city cheese in the cheese section.
I live in Sweden and didn't know that their products are available here.
Me and Mum love watching your channel! Thanks for saving us 3.50!
Our pleasure!
Couldn't have said it better myself, keep up the great work love the videos.
Thanks, will do!
Friday poker night.
I’ve just had my first poker night since leaving hospital.
For the snack break I went cheap and cheerful.
I bought some Lidl tortilla wraps. Spread them with a cheesy bean mix and some Worcestershire sauce.
Folded over and crimped. Grilled in the Sage cooker. A few chips and home made potato salad.
They went down well with my mates. When one asked for seconds ? I knew I’d cracked it. I couldn’t really taste it because my taste buds are still missing from my visit to ICU. But they smelled delicious.
Not your traditional toasty, but quick, easy and cheap to make. And 6 big portions came in at under a few quid.
To make ?
Take a tortilla wrap, fill half with beans, cheese with a dash of sauce. Fold over, wet the edges with water. Crimp down with a fork, add some cheese sauce, ( cheddar and mozzarella, milk ) put into grill or oven bake and Bobs your Uncle a tasty toasty.
Sounds delicious can i have one yummy 😋 great to meet up with the lads I bet mate.
Hi watch all your video's is there any way you can count the additives in each package top doctors are saying any more than 5 should be left alone
Hi Gaz.I've got a Breville Sandwich Toaster knocking about somewhere but tend to just use the Air Fryer these Day's when i fancy a Toastie.Chilli Cheese and Chorizo on Tiger Bread is my Special Toastie 😋
Cheers mate
ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY!
G'day Mate, I was just figuring out the conversion rate on that toasty.. turns out to be $7.04 🇦🇺 .
Thanks for your review and keeping it real.🍻
Cheers Matt thank you.
I think the price is so important, especially these days so I think it's definitely worth mentioning.. It's completely relevant. £3.50 for that is an absolute joke. How can they get away with that, must be about 80% profit for them in that. Didn't look like there were many beans on it either. It's convenience yeah but how lazy are we becoming that we have to buy this instead of making cheese on toast.
Whatever next, pre buttered bread that you put in the oven for 25 mins for the perfect toast!? They're having a laugh... they need to work on their excessive wasted packaging instead of making us do all the recycling. Rant over. Great video, again.
Cheers Steven, rant away 👍
Hi gaz . Good vids , sorry not been on lately , im so busy! More than when at work!. Make sure you try from aldi the winning food that was on tv, its the jamacian beef flake bake patty, for99p its fantastic, wot a snack 10 out of 10. Have a go. All the best- il be looking over your shoulder!. Steve.👍
Cheers Steve, I wondered where you bean lol see what I did there 😀
Was going to ask you to review this I spotted it on Instagram with them saying this is not an April Fool’s joke available now in Iceland
Good post WHAT A rip off for cheese on toast and beans
Iceland used to be my supermarket of choice, no any more, they have turned into rip off merchants
My mum and me stopped shopping there 9 months ago. Ever since they got on the shrinkflation bandwagon we said no that's enough. It's a shame because Iceland used to be a decent supermarket for those on a tight budget. Not anymore it seems!
Gareth I think it's essential that you always mention the price, there are a lot of people our there struggling and looking for good value, keep up the good work mate.
Cheers will do.
I note from the display of the packaging that was shown during the video the salt content is 2g per whole serving, I think that's quite a lot of salt, given the max RDA is 6g, in the UK. Its 33% as a percentage if it were displaying the traffic lights style labling, i assume it would be rec?
The air fryer setting for them is 120c which is the lowest setting on roast, that’s on my smaller ninja air fryer.
Good vid.
Cheers keep watching 👀
Thank you for tasting these products, save us some money ❤
Glad you like them!
Hi Gareth, Totally agree with everything you are saying & O.M.G what a total rip off I am glad I don’t eat cheese all the best Lin P.S did you try your hash browns with gravy ?
Cheers Linda
Ow much??? Bloody hell G 😮 lol the inside of that looked grim. What a rip!!
Glad I was sitting down when you announced the price Gareth, and the Government has the cheek to state the economy is improving.
Keep bangin on about the price r kid that's part of the point ❤
Yes feel like a broken record but price is important isn't it.
A good video as always. Price aside surely it would also be quicker and use less energy making it yourself. Just squash inside the crust around the bread with filling and cook. See ya
Great tip!
Gareth you need to try the cathedral city cheesy potato gratin, you get 4 in a box and they taste really nice and cook well in the air fryer !
I've reviewed it. Video in Iceland playlist I think
good keep on giving the cost its good to know if its a rip of or not
Will do cheers
This is why people like Tesco for example have made billions in profits, but of course every little helps. The answer, treat it with the contempt it deserves and move on. Great informative video with good humour thrown in, love it 😊👍
Cheers
Cathedral City's parent company is in Canada, maybe the price was supposed to be 3.50 Canadian dollars which is just over two quid but somebody forgot to do the conversion.
Costa charge over £5 for theirs. Profiteering is endemic in this country.
Iceland are getting too big for their boots. They must be stopped. 😤
Wowzers keep giving prices love how you tell us wowzers lol
I think I'd make my own . It's not a quick cook is it . Another champion review tho Gareth 👌
Cheers Kevin, good idea
Very good review again mate ,whenever i see things like this i dont bother with them ,you know your going to pay through the nose for it lol another product not to buy .Cheers
Cheers
Been making my own version for years alot cheaper. Xx
Definitely an overpriced gimmick! I'll stick to making my own toasties. Thanks as always for another honest review 💜💜💜
Cheers Barbie
Packed with 1 liners today- Friday Feeling? lol
Toasties are at least, nice but expensive 🙌👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Nice review. I wondering if it would be much better and cheaper to make this yourself? It would not take that long, just small can of baked beans, some cheese and 2 slices of bread.
Great point!
Hi Gareth, they seen you coming on that one😅 awful plastic food, beans look sprinkled on, paying for the packaging there. well done again, we trust your taste🙂
Crazy times we live in when people think this is a product that is commercially ok to purchase 😮
Do you mean finically?
Loaded and lazy haha, great one Gareth xx 😊
I know you buy this stuff to review it so we don’t have to waste are money. Cant number the amount of food I’ve bought from watching your channel. But even if you said it was the best thing since sliced bread. I wouldn’t buy it. £3.50 for that is ridiculous. Ps I love that you talk about the price. People like you might one day make supermarkets listen.
Oh Gareth, the words off, total and rip come to mind.
Two slices bread out cupboard small tin beans 50p. asda grated cheese out fridge. Everyones got cheese and bread in. I like bean juice and that was dry
well said . of course the price does matter
I never buy anything with the Cathedral City brand name out of principle. I used to get it but extra mature or mature cheddar was nowhere near that and blooming pricey. I switched to Asda and that's much stronger and cheaper. I just tried Lidl and the extra mature takes the roof off my mouth just how I like it. Anyway, that one you just tried is good convenience food but should be half the price.
Make your own if you know you know if you don't learn thanks for the vid gaz
You bet Carl
Cheaper to get the Greggs 2 Sausage & Bean Melts for £2.50 and put then in a couple of slices of bread, you get 2 and mini sausages.
Of course you should mention the price.! The so-called food industry rips the hell out of us. Thank god incan cook from scratch.!
They’re only ripping off the people that are willing to buy it!
Had one yesterday myself & whacked it in the oven for 20 mins, loved it with a side dollop of HP brown sauce but yes at £3.50 it’s expensive and not long ago costa coffee did one for about the same price so that was even lazier 😂
Costa always been overpriced.
Also, it's interesting to note how many new items these big companies are pumping out to tempt us into spending loads of money. They must have massive marketing teams coming up with new ideas nobody asked for, just so they can charge the earth.
Use everyday essentials from Aldi cheese beans and bread, whole lot under three pounds, love the darts too xx
Cheers Nicola x yes love darts
What a complete joke Gareth. Paying for named brands.👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻. Thanks for a honest review mate 👍🏻👍🏻
Cheers John
You say it would serve its purpose for convenience for some people but what’s to stop you from preparing several of these and freezing them yourself? Just put some greaseproof sheets between them. I’ve learned a lot during this cost of living age ☺️ Take care Gaz X
Your on point G dog. Still waiting for the shampoo review ...Come on
🤣👍 wash and go
You could have weighed it on Dave Winfields scales Gareth 🤣🤣
Haha 👍
I have these from ALDI, very nice but not frozen 👍
As well as the brand names sticking 'NEW!' on every single product seems another marketing trick to lure people in to trying the latest ripoff
What a complete jip, I counted 46 beans, I’d feel ashamed if I bought this.
Maybe if it was a quid I might consider it.
Whatever next ? 😂😂
“Cheese” Gaz for the review 👍🏼🇬🇧🇬🇧
Cheers Dan
Well done mate I think I will give it a miss and just make my own with a snackpot of beans and a hunk of cheese from the fridge
no wonder when u go into icleand there are about 3 people in there next door in Aldis 100s
I'm going to have to put 'a loaf of cheese' on my shopping list 😂😂
I think price has definitely got to be part of your review to see if the item is worth the cost. In this case, it's very overpriced.
I was trying to think of an argument as too why they are so expensive..camping etc but still it's a waste😂😂
Exactly, I have a tin of beans and a wee bit of cheese in some bread and some hendos..My Yorkshire half came out "Ow much?!" Yes thank you for trying and exposing this con Gareth, it's madness, I think sometimes the marketing folk think we are buttoned up the back, to be fair I was eyeing up Itsu Korean style chicken bites £4.50 for like 8 wee bits I could imagine, I had to resist as I am on long term sick leave, it is tempting if one is feeling depressed and it looks the part and seems tasty, then you stick it in the fryer and its a let down x
Thank you
I counted 45 beans on there but some might be split in two so could be around 40 beans. So they're charging about 4 pence per baked bean if we say the cheese and bread is about £2 of the total price.
If I only lived on beans at that price it would probably be a £300 a week habit. Probably be cheaper to start smoking crack instead.
Haha cheers
I tried the ham and cheese one, it was ridiculously salty
That’s a skinny Cumberland ring. I used to work around Cumbria out of Carlisle, there was a food van nearby we used to stop at that used to do a ring of sausage in a bun, it was proper butchers sausage and was thick as an average toddlers arm. I don’t understand why most supermarket sausage tastes so strongly of mace these days, probably to cover up the dextrose, sugar syrup and bamboo fibre! Sausage used to have rusk in it, not stuff they make toilet paper and underwear out of….
easy pass for me, cathedral city cheese is not the best and I cant stand heinze beans, cheap loaf and massive block of strong cheddar and a couple of tins of Branston beans and you can make a dozen of these better than this over prized product
