I automatically think anyone who defends convicted sex offenders is probably a sex offender too. That screeching person is a walking red flag. I think anyone who so vehemently defends sex offenders should be investigated because I get the feeling they themselves are offenders who haven't yet been exposed. Why else would you defend them? I was appalled when she said that that sex offender was part of a vulnerable population. No they are not, they chose to do their crimes willingly. I do live in Seattle. I was born and raised here. It was one of the most beautiful cities in the country. Lakes mountains the sound. It’s breathtaking. But it has turned into a shit hole and it gets worse and worse. The cops can’t do anything and even if they did there are no consequences even for VIOLENT offenders. Some of them have dozens of assaults and crimes and are released the next day. The only people with any real rights are homeless drug addicts and trans freak shows. I’ve been a democrat my whole life. And it used to make sense because I do align with so many of the policies but the party has been hijacked by identity politics. You really can’t say anything to anyone here without someone being “triggered” like this angry freak in the zoom meeting. The cops pretty much ignore crime. I had a break in while I was home. Called 911 and instead of an officer showing up I got a phone call. Fortunately I was able to scare him off with pepper spray and screaming at him. But they didn’t even come out to look for him. My neighbor had every window in her car broken just for sport there was video the police did nothing. Homeless camps next to schools in front of homes. In ALL the parks so the citizens can’t even enjoy them. This is my home but I’m tired. I saving up to move. And when I do I’m going to re register as an independent. Im not sure I’m red pilled. I kind of stand by Bill Marres sentiment. I didn’t leave the left. The left left me. It’s gone WAY to far. Everyone is angry and a victim but meanwhile this beautiful jewel of a city that I always championed is not what it once was. The insane clowns have run it into the ground.
Oh and I agree with you in regard to homelessness. I’ve been saying for years we need to hire consultants that have had success in OTHER city’s to help reduce homelessness. Plus our laws are too lax. There should be no tents or structures put up, period.

Detroit has acres of urban gardens, a huge and well run farmers market with indoor facilities, renovations of old housing, festivals in riverfront areas, police protection. Not all areas are good , but there have been improvements in the past 30 years. As opposed to the total mudslides and social cesspools of the west coast areas.
Yeah it's a paradise. It's still a mess. It's also one of those places where they don't want white people and they cloak it by calling a gentrification. There's also no meaningful representation for any other population that is non-black. A lot of people outside the city of Detroit have put in a lot of effort to keep this city afloat and there hasn't been one thank you to the residents of Michigan or to the nation. It's irritating when I see comments where people are living in some sort of fantasy land and attempt to pretend that Detroit and other cities are doing great.

Yeah we’re all shocked that this dude is not still in prison but in reality this is just how they treat sex offenders. They get like two years and then they’re out. There’s literally a guy that works up the street from me at a restaurant nearby who got convicted and imprisoned for abducting a minor and raping her in the 80s and he hasn’t been in prison for over 10 years and just lives a normal life. But yeah let’s call them vulnerable and act like them not having housing is something that we’re going to shed a tear about. Actually I truly believe that if you rape somebody then I don’t really care what happens to you afterward. Especially a child. Sleep outside, go die in a ditch, I don’t give a shit. Chronically homeless? That makes it sound like an affliction. It's not, it's a consequence. It's a consequence of drug addiction, some mental problem, or a myriad of other things. You can't cure homelessness, you have to cure the cause of it.
I've been homeless. It was a consequence of unemployment and bad financial administration. I found a job and got help getting my finances in order. Now I have a house and have my life is back on track.

Such task forces should consist of people good with logistics, sociologists, skilled psychiatrists and physicians. Not of activists who have their own problems they can't fix. This is like making passengers perform an emergency landing instead of the pilot.
For real. I would add psychologists and social and cultural anthropologists that have worked with homeless populations to the table too.

Breaks my heart every time we visit because it gets worse and worse. It's one of the most beautiful and richly diverse places and it is being torn apart.

What you need to understand is that NONE of these people are interested in SOLVING the “homeless problem”. Period.
Their idea of equity is that everybody is homeless.
Oh there are some who are sincere. I've worked with some who are fanatical zealots who truly believe this ideology. Then there are others who are putting in real work to house as many people as possible. The problem is those people are never the loud ones, they've got their head down looking through HMIS to identify the next person to reach out to.
I find it astonishing that the woman in this video is running a board meeting. The board members I've dealt with have all been very professional. Even the client representative.

As a Seattlite this is the unfortunate situation that we’ve been dealing with for years. It seems like us and Portland are constantly in a competition for who can go crazier. The funny thing is is the vast majority of our state is diehard Republican, but to win the governorship in Washington all it takes is king county, because that is where the vast majority of the popular is.
NYC is the same way - go 45 minutes northwest to Orange, Ulster, Sullivan, Dutchess, Putnam Counties et al, and they get redder and redder the further upstate you go. Upstate NY is for the most part die-hard Republican too but are held h0stage as a result of the 5 boros + LI.
