Loved how kind Pomni was with Gumigoo, everyone has felt that way at some point in our lives
She really acted like a hero in that scene
It was such a freeing scene, honestly. It's the first time Pomni reaches out to someone and she takes it upon herself to step towards her own healing. It's touching but it got shattered for reasons beyond Pomni's control. I love her character so much

During the montage of Kaufmo's funeral, we can see her expressions ease up a bit realizing that they're all going through similar things. Being in the same boat of their existential nightmare on one end and grieving the loss of a friend on the other.
She didn't even care that he was an NPC or not. Empathy is still empathy, she didn't have to go out of her way, yet she did. "We're just obstacles, created to be defeated and forgotten."Well... You don't have to be" im glad more adult or teen shows are going out of their way to show positive messages instead of only being about crude jokes and cutaways and nothing else.
hero? it's not heorioc. some learn to have empathic view, some not. has nothing to do with being heroic. but not talking about the realitiy that they are replacable npc's is the real issue. so she even acted bad giving false hopes. even tho she was warned that it might be forbidden she just gave him wrong hopes to get into the circus
Know what? I don't care if I already know that things don't end well afterwards. I'll cherish this little moment over and over

Grandiose theories aside, by the knowledge humans can grasp that is exactly life. No matter the connections you make, no matter the friendships, and cures you invent or children you raise at the end you and those you love will be ripped apart by forces outside your control.

Considering Pomni's state of sanity at wondering what's real, I think it makes sense that she's the type to comfort others even if she's not sure they're "real." She can have empathy for a being who may be entirely artificial, and I think that will play a key role in later plot points.
It is curious, isn't it. We haven't seen her show this level of concern for, say, Gangle, despite them having much more obvious breakdowns and protracted negative states, or Ragatha who is clearly still upset but holding back. Gummi went through basically an even more harrowing existential dread moment than Pomni though, and recognized someone who had no veils left to shield themselves, no masks to hide behind. Just like her, someone feeling utterly isolated from what they thought of as reality... And she showed him a kindness that I imagine is all she wanted from the gang. "It's gonna be okay. We're just going to try and make a new life." I imagine it's what she didn't even know *she* wanted.
I mean, freaking out that he is an NPC is clearly not a programmed reaction, so clearly Gummigoo has his own thoughts and feelings, which means he is real by the functional and most important definition

Beneath a tough shell. Sometimes you could have hurt and hiding people inside, other legit psychos waiting for a target :/. Definitely worth the weed, but trusting the small signals. A person who fights to protect themselves and the people they love, vs a person who throws away the people they loved into open fire.
The little signals and seeing things where they fall can be one of the quieter poker tells that could let us know. Every person has the potential for evil or good. Some people fight to protect themselves when nobody else ever showed up for them. It could be less hate, just sheltering the soul.

So much going on within such a short clip, and shows so much without saying a word.
@cuckoophendula8211 If you notice, Gummigoo had a bag or line under his eye and his mouth was a frown at the beginning. After he notices Pomni and looks away, his expression changed. The bag disappears, he looks like he's smiling slightly and his eye shape changed. Like when a cheek rises slightly when someone smiles. Almost like he acknowledged and accepted her attempt to comfort him.
@@curosaber Dang, another tiny nuance that I didn't notice! While his last expression may be more up to interpretation, there are unquestionably bags under his eyes that later go away showing that something has indeed changed. Thanks for pointing this out!
@@cuckoophendula8211 Your welcome. But I still see a small smile near the end on Gummigoo. The frown is gone and its bend upwards like a smile. I don't know if you know this but that's the piano version of the music they played during Kaufmo's funeral at the end of episode 2. Which makes this clip more emotional to me.
@@curosaber Yeah, I can definitely see that being a little smirk akin to him saying, "You're a strange little character!" And you're right that this is the background music played during Kaufmo's funeral with the orchestral parts taken out likely in order to make the moment feel more poignant between two friends (which in turn is yet among the many variations we'd hear of TADC main theme throughout the show).

I like how this moment gave Pomni someone she can empathize with. I think it also showed her what the others especially Ragatha were trying to do for her which was comfort her when she first arrived.

When things are bad, sometimes it just enough to find someone else in the same boat as you.
At least Gumigoo didn't have to suffer the torment of being eternally trapped in a simulation (knowingly). From his pov, he lost hope in everything, made a real friend for the first time, and died in the midst of feeling like his life was changing for the better. It's sucks to be Pomni though 💀

Both Gummygoo and Pomni had the fastest character development but it worked so well, then it was stolen away in less than 5 seconds. Such is life in this circus.
I have to say SuperAppleMan's artstyle is perfect for a series such as TADC.
I couldn't really gel with the character development because it was so blatantly setting up the "we're gonna kill this guy off at the last minute for a cheap laugh" cliche that I could fucking smell it a mile away.
@@chaosvolt I love TADC but the episode did not expand on Gummygoo or Pomni's relationship with him enough to make me care about either, especially since it's not really clear if that whole thing was just set up for Pomni's pain and despair being the punchline, or if this is actually something that will haunt her.
Pomni's relief and joy upon seeing him again in the musical promotion thing gave it a little more life than it originally had, though again, I cannot tell if that was just for a joke or if this event will actually follow Pomni
Character development can't be stolen, short of the character completely losing their memories.
It's like life. If you get a beloved pet dog and the dog dies, that doesn't mean you never had a dog. Because you had the dog, you now have the memories of loving the dog. What matters is what stays with you, what you take away from your experiences, however fleeting they might be.
I would have liked tosee more interaction between Pomni and Gummygoo.
