    The Turkish bow is designed to be used comfortably on a horse. So it's a little small compared to others.

      Both countries used the bow mainly for horseback riding. Which is probably why they look similar.

If the Korean bow is also designed like that then it's fair. And we must to respect the results. The Turks dont like any loosing anywhere, so please don't take offense to bad comments :)

    • @samueljung2165
      @samueljung2165 Před 7 lety +9

      agreed. or at least ones that are made in the same manner.
      Real Korean bows make almost complete circles when unstringed and are smaller.

    • @cool06alt
      @cool06alt Před 7 lety +1

      korean bow get weaker as time goes because of its thinner limb, so it became less and less a circle when unstringed.

    • @samueljung2165
      @samueljung2165 Před 7 lety

      hmm? thickness affecting bow's loss in tension is completely unbound. ex) very thick Longbows lose their tension much quicker than composite bows including Turkish, Mongolian, & Korean bows. composite bows lose their tention much slower and are more energy efficient. downside would be that they need extra attention. If i remember it correctly there's a LOT of maintenance for Korean traditional bows. If they are well taken care of, they last a life time. there are many Chinese/Monglian/Korean history to back that up : generals/soldiers keeping a good bow for their entire life and even passing it to generations.
      and the Korean bow in the video is NOT the traditonal one. they call it "Semi" traditional bow, if that was your point.

    • @cool06alt
      @cool06alt Před 7 lety +5

      Yes there's lot of maintenance needed for composite bow like korean bow because of its thinner limb than most other composite bow, But while it got elasticity it doesnt get much tensile strength to keep the shape of its limb when unstringed in long run.
      I think the best comparison would be like turkish bow and korean bow, both got the same lenght, but while turkish curve less when unstringed, it still keep its shape much longer than korean bow.

    • @samueljung2165
      @samueljung2165 Před 7 lety +7

      Agreed. At least Same draw weight. or the comparison may be meaningless because bow manufacturers these days only change the form factors of the bow and call them different bows, although they have almost identical manufacturing process, with often same materials.
      But it will be hard to get traditional bows like that these days. So let's cheer the youtuber for the effort:)

      iyoo1 a question I have is since many people comment on the necessity of drawing past the more conventional anchor points to almost the ear, how can you achieve a consistent shot with a "floating" anchor? Perhaps I misunderstood something. And, thanks for making the content.

    • @iyoo1
      @iyoo1  Před 6 lety +2

      thank you for taking your time to watch.
      as far as i know many oriental archers don't have solid anchor point. koreans pull their string all the way back almost behind head. when they reach tip of the arrow they know they are in Mahn Jak (means full draw). other than that, details of techniques, i do not know.
      i hope i had a coach but i'm doing 'trying and error' method. ^_^;

    What is your draw length? It looks like your consistent with hand placement for draw but is that 28" or 30" no way for us to tell if you were doing a slight over or under draw this changing the draw weight.

    It's so funny how butt hurt the Turks are in this comparison. Relax guys they are both fiberglass replicas.
    Nothing to get all worked up over the kid is not doing science or saying his country Is better than yours. He is just having a go at it a little fun with some commercial made cheap bows, So lighten up Francis.

      The turks are insane when it comes to archery. If you ask a turkish person they will probably say that the turks invented everything from the thumbring to the hornbow. It’s pretty funny for sure. I mean it’s not like there were hundreds of turkic tribes or something like that, right..
      It seems that most turks don’t understand this piece of history.

      Yes for sure. The turkish turks got influenced by their arabian neighbours I imagine, while other turkic groups like the uighurs do have a more asiatic appearance.

    The Korean style bow is different from the real Korean traditional bow. The real Korean traditional bow has a C shape when it is untied and has much more elasticity than the Korean style bow of the video. That is why the real Korean traditional bow called Gakgung is the the strongest bow in the world. The old Turkish moved from Far East Asia to the present location and learned the bow making skill from old Koreans. And the old Koreans were called "East Bow people".
