Wow, Power Rangers Once and Always really lived up to the hype. I really enjoyed the storyline, the easter eggs, the fighting, the morphing, really everything! I really do wish that they would continue this storyline and have it map into the real show somehow.

One thing I was missing from the megazord transformation was the random guy yelling “megazord sequence as been initiated”

Well Jason wouldn’t be Gold cause Trey of Triforia would be lol. Also, I like to assume that the MMPR Rangers share or “take turns” with powers every now and then
Wow! Just wow! Now this is an anniversary special done right! All the actors from Walter, Barbara, David, etc still got it when it comes to retaining their characters from its heyday. I’m so glad it did not retconned Rita’s return from the finale of In Space. I loved Minh as a character and her development. Her taking up the mantle of the yellow ranger is so cool and worth cheering. Every single character got a chance to shine, especially Rocky. He’s so underrated and him getting some spotlight is well deserved.
Also, I’m surprised that the Phantom Ranger made a small cameo appearance in Robo Rita’s machine. He’s such a cool character that I’m glad he’s getting the popularity it deserves.
And that ending man. 🥲 I love it every second of it, especially that goodbye song. So yeah, this special was definitely one of the best anniversary events in Power Rangers.
I just wish there were more episodes for us to learn more about what's going on in this time period!

I enjoyed some of the call back lines where Kat said the line about too much pink energy being danger or mentions of Billy's time on aquatar which i wasnt sure they were going mention so that was pretty cool
Okay, so dino powers explanation.
The powers of a particular ranger or team are never destroyed. They're always there in the Morphin Grid. The coins were simply a means of channeling that bond (and actually, so were the ranger keys from Megaforce! They're the same idea as the proxy coins, which I'll explain in a moment.) And so, when the coins were destroyed, new ones could be made- however, back then, only Ninjor had the knowledge of how. The implications in this special were that Billy and Alpha had learned how to create the coins necessary to channel the powers, and that in this case they had also created proxy coins that bypass the original connection to the Grid. That's actually why they brought up the "too much pink energy is dangerous" line from MMPR season 2- because Kat and Rocky are accessing the pink and red powers at the same time as Kimberly and Jason, it could potentially overwhelm their systems. I'd guess that the reason they didn't was at least partially because Rita's machine was at that time absorbing the excess energy that would have overwhelmed them.
I loved the special.
Thuy Trang's Trini Kwan is my favorite Ranger. Seeing her die in such a stark way was rough for me. I knew we'd deal with Trini's death in the special but I didn't think I'd see her get vaporized.
I loved Minh. I want more of that character. I hope she pops up elsewhere in the franchise. Really appreciated the moment at the end where Aisha acknowledged her as a new Sabertooth Tiger Yellow Ranger.
The Dino coins were damaged not destroyed so they could have restored them. The ninja coins were completely destroyed and couldn’t restore them. As for why Jason isn’t Zeo Gold, he gave them back to Trey so of course he isn’t Zeo gold. The reason why Tommy is Green is cause for one he has a master morpher now in ninja steel which allows him to transform to his different ranger forms. I think the only reason he only goes green is cause runtime and the special isn’t focused on Tommy. Adam, Rocky, and Aisha could have easily given back back their coins after they were restored. Aisha was probably starting to work for SPD while Rocky and Adam already have their Zeo powers so they don’t need the Dino coins anymore
Also the coins are just the connection to the Grid, not the powers itself, so even if a coin is destroyed they can always make another one.
@@UltimaJC See I would agree with you, but then why is it such a problem for Goldar to have the coins when he took them? I'd be like, "Zordon, disconnect those, and make me a new one" lol
@@GeekLevelAsian I think that was mostly cause I think at the time, the rangers and alpha wouldn’t know how to make new coins since the one that made them I’m pretty sure was Ninjor and he was sealed at the time. It would have taken Billy and alpha years to know how to make new coins. At least that how i saw it
Charlie as Minh such a fantastic job. She has a lot of Sadie Sink(Max from Stranger Things) acting potential. I want to see her do more things power rangers or not.
Since we know from Dimensions in Danger that Tommy has a Master Morpher, and Billy made auxiliary coins (at least Pink and Red), I'm willing to assume that Billy's cracked how to reconnect people to the Morphin Grid.
I thought during the “Power transfer” (Zack, Trini, Jason), the power coins were simply duplicated, given that they remained in their morphed forms. At one point, I think it may have been during the transitioning to Zeo, the Dino coins were destroyed. Fast forward to “MMPR in Space”, when Andros destroyed Zordon’s “containment beckon”, I think that restored all the Dino coins (including the duplicates). Just my theory though! As always, great review!! May the power protect you!

They explained why they had access to the Dino powers again, but I guess you either missed it or didn't pay attention. Alpha 9 and Billy were working on a secondary connection to the morphin grid and made proxy Dino power coins as a contingency plan to be prepared for an occasion where the Dino powers had to be used again. And they did use archival voice work from Amy Jo Johnson, Jason David Frank, and Thuy Trang in the first fight of the special and the fight at the cemetery.
I took that as secondary coins were made for Rangers like Kat and Rocky if the og team were in a situation like this. Not that he made coins for the og team to use at their leisure.
Tommy still has the master morpher, so he could have turned into any of his ranger forms...But this is was a S1 reunion, they sticked with MMPR Green.
As for how everyone else got their powers back, imo, personal head canon the legendary battle rebooted everyone powers. As for Adam, he managed to recreate his MMPR powers between in space - OO.

They brought JJ into the show around Ninja Steel which has Tommy moving JJ's bike.
It’s sad though the way hasbro treated Jason David Frank before he died though it’s the reason he wasn’t in this and didn’t want anything to do with the franchise anymore.
His plans for Drakkon would have been incredible. It also would have helped push the comic and have it become more intertwined.
So since the proxy coins are a thing most likely billy played a role in restoring the dino powers. Which btw those coins were never destroyed. They were damaged hence Adam's Morpher in that episode of in space. The Ninja coins were the ones Rita and Zedd totally destroyed. During the alien ranger arc. Also the coins and Morphers are basically an amplifier for the morphing grid. So since the proxy coins are a thing now. Ranger powers might be able to be re-created as long as you have something that triggers that transformation from the grid.
Enjoyed this review. On a side night I remember the Alien Encounter ride. That was a fun ride.

Not to overthink about the situation, but Billy, being the tech genius that he is, perhaps managed to recreate or at least repair the Dino Coins. Technology evolves over time so I think Billy managed to reverse-engineer ranger technology. Also, Jason, Zach and Trini were morphed during the power transfer ceremony, implying they still had their powers when they left, so what was destroyed were Rocky, Adam and Aisha's copy of the powers.
The reason why Jason didn't use his Tyrannosaurus Power Coin when his Gold Zeo Ranger powers failed when it was clear in Forever Red he still had the coin is anybody's guess.
Powers have been duplicated, transfered, recreated, etc. There is even a theory that the original power coins healed over time, based on Adam using the original Mastodon coin during In Space.

That was in Operation Overdrive. I was talking about his first reappearance during In Space when he used a damaged coin and morpher. The theory is that the Mastodon coin was self healing which is why he was able to use it for a breif time, when originally they were totally destroyed.
@@WiGgYof09 Sentinel Knight did repair some of the powers from the retro rangers: Tori's and Xander's. Kira's was already repaired by Kat Manx and Bridge inherited Jack/Sky's morpher.

@iankevinsevilla no one was talking about those powers. You are the one who brought up Sentinel Knight. I'm specifically talking about the original MMPR coins and the first time we saw old powers return.

So alpha and Billy made proxy coins so that multiple people could use the Dino powers , so I’m assuming they could just fix the original coins and get the powers back ? If he has the tec to make new coins than surely he can fix old stuff ?
Also one thing I was like …. Nah was that they didn’t form the power cannon to take out robo Rita ….

After in Space they somehow fixed the Dino Coins since Jason and co used them several years after that but the Ninja coins still are destroyed

The special was simply amazing. To the haters, it's Morphin time!
Billy restored the coins, probably using tech from Terra venture, like the dragon coin was restored. He rebuilt the zords cause they were the first, hence some of the differences. The toy zap cg modles were used, and lighting collection figures/helmets. The weapons were the lightning collection ones as well. Also since Billy rebuilt the zord and remote system for the tiger (thus implementation on the others) the new cockpit has blue as leader.

Zach didnt use the power axe in blaster mode much in the show hell using sentai footage Jake from SMF used the axe in that form than freaking Zach or Adam did lol

It could be them using the experience over the years to win the day. You know its like it doesn't matter the type of power you use but how you use it. Plus since it was focused on the lost of trini (who only had access to the one power source) and the coming of age for new yellow it would make since to bring back the power that started this 30 years legacy
They have proxy dino coins that billy and alpha created .
I watched it 4 times already I wonder a what if scenario if ASJ, JDF, & Amy Jo appeared in this special what would be different also Rocky had the ninja ape coin in dimensions in danger ! Also tommy has the master morpher? Didn’t make sense!!!
No I’m pretty sure Rocky would have his own Dino coin since the ninja coins were disintegrated and we can assumed billy probably fixed them and Rocky probably gave his back to Jason
And with the master morpher thing, Tommy still gains the gold power morpher on his belt when turning into the green ranger with the master morpher. We saw this in Dimensions in Danger
If you'd like to skip the gay scene then skip past 33:40-33:50, those numbers may not be exact but should be very close.

I don’t think the Dino coins were destroyed, the Ninja coins were. In the Zeo episodes, you can see the suits with the morphers in the closed tubes.

I'm kind of shocked at all the praise this is getting, as I found it very disappointing. I know only being able to get 2 of the original 6 Ranger actors back was out of their control, but they made decisions that just highlighted the fact only 2 guys were actually back. Not really any of the side characters brought back either.
They never really explained why these 50 year old out of shape guys were needed to pull on the Power Ranger costumes again. Actually, they didn't even make it seem like them putting them back on was a big deal, but rather they had just continued as Power Rangers this entire time. It was only much later than the story went in a direction of 'oh, we need ALL the ranger teams for this', even though the villains were just your standard monster of the week villains that they really didn't present as being such a huge threat to warrant that kind of response.
The comics do such a better job at this kind of thing.

The biggest *failing* of this 'Special' was that it catered to Adult Power Ranger Nerds, as opposed to Normal Adults who have long grown out of Power Rangers..... therefore it's not going to win over any new audiences who think PR is lame, *dated* and cheesy. 👈👈

Cool eppy but Billy's botox problems have got way out of control at this point lol.
One issue I had was why was there a green ranger and not a white ranger 🤷 green ranger couldn't get his powers back which is why he turned into white. Have I missed something
Remember the two parter back in season 2 of MMPR where Rita had the Wizard of Deception create a Tommy clone with fully functional Green Ranger powers? That's one possibility because after all, even when the clone pulled a heel face turn and decided to live in the past, he still kept the Green Ranger powers.
That, and by the time of Ninja Steel Tommy had a master morpher that could tap into the grid and give him any of his previous powers on command.

I think how they received the dino powers was kind of implied so that Billy restored them? Everyone just comes together again and reverts to their OG powers because.... *insert plot armor*? 😂
I adored this special It was a labor of love by the cast and crew. Minh's character won me over instantly, the returning cast made me feel like a kid again. And the song at the end... is there a soul out there that saw this and DIDN'T cry? This was something we needed

@@GeekLevelAsian also that same day Once and Always was released, it was announced by Boom Studios that Power Rangers Hyperforce will make a huge return in the comic books through the Power Rangers Unlimited one shot comic and it will pick up right where the season left off. That is so hype 😁. PR fans just keep winning.
