Totally! The reason being it fills you up and you end up eating less because of the high fibre content of green smoothies. The other great thing I have found is my cravings for bad food have pretty much disappeared since I started drinking green smoothies (this is coming from someone who loves chocolate etc), now I barely eat it at all. I am addicted to these smoothies!

If you get a really expensive good blender like a vitamix (or a cheaper: ninja) you can do this by putting all ingredients in at once and it will blend. Yes. Kimberly Synder highly recommends using organic fruits and veggies. There are tons of pesticides present on conventional fruits and veggies. Not even rinsing them under water will remove the pesticides. But if you can't afford to buy them organic, you can find a Veggie Wash spray at a grocery store or health food store. Just follow the directions on the back of it. I prefer to buy all organic though.
I wouldn't use lettuce at all. Deep green vegetables like kale would have been better. The nutrition in lettuce is very low and the majority of it is water so you wanna get your phytonutrients elsewhere. If there isn't enough liquid just add some cold green tea, ice or water.
@Idna78 I kind of changed the recipe this morning and added water, romaine, spring mix, spinach, banana, apple, pear, grapes, lemon, cilantro and parsley---it was AMAZINGLY delicious! All I could taste was pretty much the banana. It was refreshing and GOOD!
Be sure to strain because all that excess pulp can make you bloated. Bananas have a lot of sugar so with the pear and apple, might be a bit too much sugar!
Just made the smoothie. I substituted the spinach with kale. I did not have a pear. Once you get passed the green color, it is quite good. The fruits give it a sweet taste because the greens are bland. I will definitely make on a weekly basis to start with and maybe work it up on a daily basis. Thank you.
Organic is no different then regular fruits. I use to work in a big grocery store for years back then, and we use to laugh at people who think organic is much safer then regular fruits. It is just another con for people to pay more money that is all. Just use any fruits and green vegetables if you want to get glow skin, and drink lots of water. You don't have to follow this recipe since it is really just fruits and greens mix together:)
If you blend it for long enough you won't have lumps. The banana helps make it smoother too. It might take some time depending on your blender but you can get it very smooth if you have patience. This is much better than juice because it retains the fibre of the fruit and veg.
i think this is a great idea especially for me i hate greens and wont eat them, and not eating greens causes me to have a lot stomach issues (colitis) bc i dont have enough greens and i think im going to try this
So I went to Whole Foods so I can try this beauty detox and I have to say for someone who HATES vegetables, I actually like it. But the one thing that I have to get used to is the texture of the smoothie eek! But overall it tastes good (trust me) especially for all you people like me who can stand the tatse of vegetables LOL I have a lot of energy for some reason now, and I feel really good....like CLEAN good! yes, thats probably the first thing it does, I am doing the GGS "glowing green smoothie" I have been since last year and I love 10 pounds in a week.. love it. Its funny how I only feel better physically and mentally when I drink this.
I drink 2 green smoothies per day with kale, spinach, flax seeds, cucumber, spirulina, chlorella, blueberries, and tomatoes. I still have cystic acne. You can't say that green smoothies give you clear skin when you have perfect skin to begin with.

yeah very serious, i dont eat spinach normally, its like when u eat something your belly dont agree with u feel it like instantly, well i could feel it going through my body, was a new experience for my body, taste great, ...when i make it, and put it in the fridge i also leave the lemons in there to soak...that really brings out the flavour...

The pesticides are essentially latched on the outside of the fruit/vegetable. You'll end up ingesting a lot of pesticides and chemicals if you don't go organic. Google 'dirty dozen' and 'clean 15 foods' to get a nice list of what to buy organic! :)
Put in some ice cubes each time you blend the veggies and fruits! Vitamins will be damaged by the heat generated from blending action, which is not what you want. Blend with cooled water or with ice cubes to keep the vitamins!
Green smoothies are great! For future reference leave out the banana, only apples and pears are great for green smoothies as other fruits with veg don't digest well together in the stomach :-)

I've not sure if your familiar with Kris Carr, "Crazy, Sexy, Diet" but she has a handy list which breakdowns which vegetables and fruit should be purchased in organic and those that can be purchased conventionally. Hope that helps:)

I don't know about stretch marks...lol but I do know it helps with acne.. even severe acne. I started juicing for weight lose. i never expected that it would heal my skin. I had spent a few year seeing a dermatologist and spent LOTS of money as well and the results were only temporary. My acne would come back with a vengeance. After juicing I noticed a huge difference on day 5.. an improvement I had never even seen with prescription meds. Now I do smoothies. both are good
Good thing I like celerey and can use all 3 stalks :D This drink tastes very good and nutricious. Celery is a very good for your health, it cleans your liver and that way your body and skin. I only used 1/2 cup of water because I would get too full if there's a lot of smoothie ..and I like it quite thick :) Thank you for sharing this recipe April!

@12blin I got it from Stylemint. It is the prince t in olive green but at times it looks like a vneck in this video but it is a crew neck. It just hangs down a bit.
am not sure if you havveee to use organic but i am pretty sure you do, because organic vegetables are ALOT better for your body than proceesed vegetables... and am pretty sure anything thats processed isnt going to detox your body because of the chemicals, natural is better! hope this helps..
There is loads of different stuff in there. Its better if you just go with spinach, banana, and basil one day and then with romanian salad, apple and pear on the other. More different tastes and still all the great stuff. Green smoothies are probably the best breakfast ever! You start our day so healthy. And mostly you get your five a day with one drink.^^

haha Kristan try cuttin back a bit on spinach and use baby spinach i find that lovely. and maybe increase time you blend(not too much tho). Nice video but I would say try to not have to make a habit of storing in fridge as the nutrients are more potent if you can drink it fresh :) your skin looks good already too.

a personal tip, if it's kind of chewy, chew it! it helps release digest it better! Otherwise you may get bloated and it may cause gas and cramps.

Because it starts to ferment. It's better to drink them as soon as possible or from the day before maximum.

Substitute water with coconut water, and it will taste amazing.
Looks good! You would add all of the ingredients at once and save time, with The Vitamix Blender.

@TinkerLynne I taste the bananas more so than anything else. It also has a lemon taste. I can't taste the spinach at all.
