MANACLED: harry potter is dead. in the aftermath of the war, in order to strengthen the might of the magical world, voldemort enacts a repopulation effort. hermione granger has an order secret, lost but hidden in her mind, so she is sent as a handmaiden to the high reeve until her mind can be cracked. // please note this is a dark fic - please read the trigger warnings!

whenever recommending someone the dramione fic, 'manacled' by senlinyu, i always preface it that you need to make it to chapter 25 - the flashbacks - for things to piece themselves together. the plot twist makes all the difference, and on my second read -through this past november, the flashbacks really hit me so much stronger (probably because i wasn't in so much despair reading it like i was the first time). since then, i've always wanted to vid it. and yes, this song is from senlinyu's official playlist!
this edit follows - or at least, i tried! - the flashbacks sequence and i tried to squeeze in some of my favourite bits (not everything could make it, obviously). all these chapters are page turners, and the parallels from the previous chapters is... chefs kiss. it is so, so good.
for the casting, i'm ngl this was a DOOZY. i love tom as draco - probably my new draco - and the last few scenes of tbosas were very early days manacled for me. he's not entirely perfect but! sometimes we gotta make the blondes work. as for hermione oh my GOD what a process. but i settled on medalion rahimi for this specific project (with her 10 usable scenes, lol). a BIG shout-out to @Bellsilili for all her help with this fancast & footage 🖤
ALSO! as senlinyu looks to publish a new book - a sort of reimagined manacled - i just wanted to say how EXCITED i am! i absolutely love her work, and know that this book is going to be incredible. and hey, ever since fma:b, i love alchemy, lol. cannot wait to vid them in the future.
anyways i lost this project when i had 10s left so this has been... a labour of love to say the least. i'm not entirely?? happy with it but man it just needs to get out there into the world, lol.

I love Tom Blythe as Draco in Manacled. The original Draco always seemed so weak and cowardly to me. Plus I never pictured Emma as Manacled’s Hermione either, I guess cause she looks so different in the original illustrations. Both of them, actually
so happy you like the casting! i feel very similarly - manacled!dramione feels completely different to me then their movie counterparts. tbh, i feel like ff!dramione is just wildly different overall than the canon versions of themselves, lol (and probably why i love them so much)!

Manacled is one of my favourite fanfics though I don't like dramione and your video really conveys the atmosphere, the themes, the characters, all the reasons why i loved this fic in the first place. Particularly the actors - I watched tbosas and normally I have a grudge against putting actors I already know from different films in roles of other characters, but tom blyth is just a perfect choice for draco malfoy from manacled. Thanks you so much for this wonderful edit, you actually make me want to read manacled again

Ela cria personalidades totalmente DIFERENTES um do outro (Mione e o Draco), mas algo inegável é a forma insana como eles se amam e fazem de tudo para se protegerem. É uma história pesada, morte, tortura e estupro. Mas vale a pena ler cada palavra! A autora brinca com o passado e o presente de uma forma surreal e como leitora foi incrível ir percebendo como tudo se encaixava. Enfim, para quem estiver interessado, LEIA!

i honestly really loved "let the dark in" by the same author as manacled (and do need to catch up as its a wip!). i LOVE how they write draco/dramione. i also really liked "draco malfoy and the mortifying ordeal of being in love" as more of a romcom vibe!!! its been awhile since i've really gone on a dramione binge so those are my favourites that i remember (there was a REALLY good murder mystery one but it messed me up so bad i fear to rec it lol)
