    Piper was so convincing and passionate that it was difficult to believe he wasn't really that angry. This is missing from todays promos. RIP Roddy Piper

    Roddy was a master of taking those quick gulps of air every few seconds so that his blistering tirades would never wane in intensity. His verbal barrages were impenetrable walls of smack talk. There was no getting a word in edgewise with him unless he allowed it.

    Had a chance to meet him just months before he passed. Awesome guy and true gentlemen. We exchanged jokes and I got a pic of me shaking my fist at him and he was totally into it. He remarked
    " yeah do that" as we both smiled.
    So friendly and cordial. 👍👍

Still fresh off his tenure in Mid Atlantic, he was also good IN THE RING,having kept the skills he learned there.     Piper was the man of all men!! I watched it because of him and after WM 1, I never watched another match again. I used to go to the Boston garden religiously to watch matches, but after WM 1 being on PPV, I never looked back

      I understand your point Marty and yeah, I think Piper would have loved a run as champion but truth is: the guy never needed a belt to be over. Some guys needs a title to become a star, Piper was his own walking title. Hell, even a guy like Flair needed 1 or 2 title reigns to get over, but not Piper. So the fact he never won the World title yet was always super over both as a heel and a babyface is a real compliment to him and shows how much he was amazing.

    I've totally lost interest in pro wrestling in recent years because there are no more "fun" characters like Roddy Piper anymore. They're all generic and can't offend anyone because they have to be politically correct. R.I.P. Roddy. You were the toughest son of an unnamed goat ever.

    Just giving Devito his due, he'd never watched wrestling before but was very humble and doing his best to put wrestling over despite not really being a fan or having the words. Wonder what he thought about Piper coming in soaking wet in seemingly just a towel. I mean I'm sure he was told Piper would interrupt but I doubt he ever imagined a crazy, naked scotsman bursting in.

    1985, Rod Toombs over the top. ain't no other pro wrestlers going forward gonna top Piper. Rod was not a gimmick, just a rough and tumble Scottish Canadian. And a good bagpipe, good enough to complete with the city of Toronto pipe band in 1969. My pal Jake Watson, who is a world class piper remembers Roddy competing with the city of Toronto pipe band in 1969. I knew Roddy personally for twenty years. God Bless Roddy, & the Toombs clan.       I remember him talking about you. Roddy Piper didn't have a lot of close personal friends that he let call him Rod Toombs. But he always told me that Nicky Carpe Diem was his real ace in the hole.

      Some of the reasons pro wrestling took off into a huge multimillion dollar business including live ppv events like wrestlemania in the mid 1980sMcMahon put wrestling shows on cable tv regularly including prime time, wrestling stars like hulk Hogan coming of his role in Rocky 3 and others like Andre the Giant, Lou Albano, etc. - Yet, the biggest reason pro wrestling viewership exploded and interest in it grew dramatically was due to Roddy Piper and his Pipers Pit.

      There were so many greats back in the day and Piper was truly in a class by himself. He goes right up there alongside Hogan, Flair, Savage and Rhodes. Great in the ring and behind the mic. I can’t stand wrestling now. So boring.
