I'm not a beginner, but I still mostly play Level 2 because I find that the most memorable riffs are the simplest.

@@czyprodigy Shut yo greasy ass up. Doom riffs are stupidly easy and super memorable. I incorporate lvl 9 stuff, But it's preference. Simplicity is good for it being memorable

@@checkthedist I was also watching your videos before ordering a custom angled ARB Torr for my Ibanez RGMS8. It wasn't cheap, but I'm very satisfied with the result. I also added an EMG SPC middle boost pot for an extra bite. Very inspiring videos, Alex.

Pretty cool. And a heck of a lot easier than it sounds. Level 7 and you're just learning to chug..... Been playing 43 years, but old metal, not Nu. Got an ESP LTD MH-17, a Gstyle 7 string strat, A Bexgear 7 string (kit build), an Iron Horse 7 string multiscale, a Gstyle 8 string strat, and an Ibanez 8 string multiscale. Gimme a week or two to dust off the rust (I build guitars more than I play nowadays), and a couple more weeks to move through the levels, and I could probably be there. That's one cool thing about guitar, the more you learn, the easier it is to learn more. I've never got into Nu metal before because I always considered alternate tunings to be "cheating", and found getting good sound from standard tuning to be a more worthy challenge. Nowadays I'm less of an uptight purist about things. With the rise in popularity of alternate tunings, I found its just as easy to write bad music regardless of tuning used. So now I no longer blame alternate tunings for bad songwriting.
I missed watching this one when it came out. Those staccato downstrokes are completely devastating and tastefully placed!

Just starting 8-String... would love to have a way to see the chords spelled out or tab on some thing. Dissonant chords just wizz by. All the low D string stuff is easy enough to follow as is the octave. When on lowest strings you hand seems to be on a bar chord, is that stop ringing or do you string the chord?

you forgot natural and pinch harmonics, but mostly natural. Proper Nu Metal needs harmonics thrown in to weird, random places like an A.I. computer having a seizure.

@@xxcxpl I played 6 for like 13 years, then in less a year I had a 7 and an 8 lol. I love my 8 because it's like having a standard 6 string and a down tuned monster in one.

I can play this same style on my esp ltd mh-401bfm baritone 6 string i think baritones can go up to f depending how long the scale length is you dont need eight strings or sevens to tune low or drop tun

This is Emmure’s approach to metalcore. But the first riff is def on point. I’m pretty sure Slipknot, Sepultura / Soulfly, and Ill Niño have all used pretty much that exact riff lol.

+1 for the Ill Niño mention. Level 1 riff sounds almost identical in structure to lots of riffs off of “Revolution Revolucíon”.
I think I can pull off levels 1 & 2.
But that 3rd level looks hard already.

that agile is sweet, is that a pendulum? I just ordered a 72527fx and so hyped on it
Its sick af right? It's an agile septor elite. I'm just not sure if its the 827, 828, or 830 (8 being the number of strings and the 27, 28, or 30 being the scale length). The pendulum is a multi-scale with fanned frets.

I checked the description of another video of him using the same guitar and it's an Agile Septor Elite 828.
