I actually kinda like them making Pierre have a limited seed stock. Makes it so you have to actually grow different crops, instead of just buying like 200 cranberries at the start of the month
Plus humanizes shopkeepers
Plus using the seedmaker becomes much more valuable for things that aren't ancient fruit
That's one reason I like the Joja Clearance Bin mod. You end up swinging by Joja, checking the bin, then changing your plans because you just found a good deal on seeds...
I dealt with this issue by myself - 2 quality sprinklers per crop at most and have to buy every crop each season, including flowers. also, mods for crops a nd flowers help with that (beware of OP modded crops lol)
I always buy every crop available in each season “just in case.” I can’t imagine only buying one type of crop😭

Lewis taxes a portion of your current gold, which incentivizes you to spend your money instead of saving it, which technically directly helps the town. Lewis is kind of smart...except he forgot Star Fruit exist 💀

you could make it even worse by requiring hearts with people who provide services. can’t upgrade your tools til you’re at 2 hearts with clint, can’t construct farm building til 4 hearts with robin, etc. this video was great tho! i admire your determination.

@@Contreth1313yes, some fish like the Catfish and the Legend wouldn't be able to be caught and the Gem Parrot puzzle would be nightmare-ish 💀
He was able to get a couple rain totems in order to do the fishing for CC.
The gem puzzle on Ginger Island would probably end up having to be brute forced, but it could be done

What lunatic wanted to make a hurricane mod. They decide they wanted to put the worst farming game mechanic in Stardew. Who likes hurricanes in farming sims. Like genuinely who is waking up and saying "AHHH. All my hard work is gone. I love this mechanic".😂

I actually really like the idea of limited seeds per week! Forces you to play more like you did when the game was new and not about min-maxing
I would love to see this mod used again, maybe for a "race to marry" video? The villagers' likes being randomized and the fact that they have 20 hearts seemed like it'd be interesting gameplay so it would be fun to see more of it!

All of the bundles actually seems really fun in a normal run
Small suggestion that could make this challenge absolutely nasty, make the bundles have no optional parts.
The Exotic Foraging Bundle for example needs 5 of the 9 presented options so with this suggestion you would make the bundle require all 9 options to be completed.

By setting the mines to dangerous at the beginning you are immediately faced with Stardew's final boss: dangerous slimes.

I really wanna play with this mod. Would be really cool if this mod has the option to configure the various changes. Like, being able to set the amount that is taxed, or like re-enabling the rain.

Not gonna lie, the limited seed stocks sounds pretty legit. I’m always up for making Stardew Valley have more stuff like that. Not necessarily making the game “harder”, per say, but rather making it to where you have to play more thoughtfully and make strategic decisions with your money. That leads to the game being much more engaging to play, at least in my eyes. It’s why I’m now using Longevity’s tax and price fluctuation features in my own playthroughs.
To add to this idea, there could milestones for expanding the shop’s supply. Have the first shop expansion be a secondary unlock for completing the Vault bundle, and then another one when you complete the Community Center entirely and run Joja out of town (because who else will they be selling to besides Pierre, at that point?). Alternatively, if you side with Joja instead, then completing the warehouse could unlock an infinite stock at Joja Mart, or something like that.

3:00 No rain sounds like an upside late game. Junimos always collect crops and pigs always produce truffle.
I feel like you could've increased you combat skill in town by smacking bats all day to get the Vampire ring early along with selling the bat wings.
Not thaaat early since you'd need to reach level 5 of the mines and then slay 10 slimes in the secret woods (dangerous mines don't have any) before the adventurer's guild is even open. But yeah, that'd be a neat ring to have and bat wings aren't so bad for money. I was also wondering why he didn't just save up and buy a better weapon once the guild is unlocked, it seemed worth the investment.

I heard that CA intended Walleye to be caught between 12am-2am so you'd only have 2 in-game hours to catch them but coded it wrong so we got 12pm-2am. I think the reason he never fixed it is because they already have a low bite rate and only appear in rain so only having 2 hours is brutal for getting them.
Not sure how true that is but in real life walleyes are very sensitive to light so it's rare to find one until a couple hours after sunset, you only really find them in the early hours of the morning. If you take a photo of a caght walleye with the flash on then their eyes shine up like light bulbs.

omg the "so maybe hurricanes are based" statement reminds me of when I had to load up the _old version of my save, because it had mysteriously become Autumn when I was in late Spring.
Losing a little bit of progress was disappointing but it also made me snap a little bit, and I bought 165 Kale Seeds to plant, completely ignoring what would have been my "normal" progression of slowly making the crops area just a little bit bigger every time new seeds get planted. *Absolutely* kickstarted me for Summer 1 year 1 where I could fill up my whole 202 tile beach farm field+16 other crops while still affording a coop upgrade and my last normal->copper tool upgrade /o/
The fact that the bats @ 1:42 get grossed out when u go through the garbage caused the loudest cackle to escape from me.

Instead of the hold and release method the game uses, you just scroll up and down
It sounds fun, but I wonder if that wouldn't just take all the challenge out of it, if the default position of the bar would be 'stays in place'. Perhaps make the fish move more erratically, or react to the scrolling motion with some lag?

So parts of this mod actually seem really fun to me, would it be possible to customize the mod a little and obtain it? More hearts, dangerous mines, all the bundles, monsters in town... that all sounds like an interesting challenge.
Is there a mod list anywhere for this? It sounds like a blast.
Seanie with the hard mode is like: ugh I only upgraded my tools TWICE, I can’t move fast in mines and I haven’t achieved much.
Me in the middle of my first summer of my first game ever: on level 25 in mines, only copper pickaxe, NO sprinklers, most of my energy gone with watering the crops, which doesn’t give me much money ;(
Moving away from manual watering to sprinklers is actually pretty hard imo, whenever im in a new save i also struggle with the cycle of “need to water crops -> takes ages-> has no energy-> can’t progress in mines” it seems counterproductive but you need to plant less crops that are worth a lot. Alternatively, they have an annoying pattern but basic sprinklers may be for u just to limit the shear amount of watering😭😭
It's really worth getting the berries from those days that the berry bushes are full of them. They basically solve your energy worries, and they're free to pick. (Tree snacks are also decent)
I have no idea how to play the game even with tutorials so i think this mod would give me a heart attack😂

That mod looks very interesting for a casual playthrough. Some things feel like are overnerfed or overly cruel, but still I'd love to play it, probably. I'm curious if dialogues like Evelyn nudging you towards giving George a leek (since he loves it normally) got changed to inform about the new loved item etc. And limit on seeds seems like a great idea (and honeslty, it could stop at 50 per week, that way Seed Makers and Mixed Seeds would see more usage).
And about Foraging being the hardest to max out. Well, I definietly didn't maxed it out first in my first playthrough (and I definietly didn't pick Tracker).
I think I came up with a good way to keep the game fresh. With the help of mods. When a skill reaches Level 10, it gets reset back to 0, but the professions/craftables are kept. It's like making the skill legendary. Then can level up again and get another profession.
But to make it more balanced... once a skill levels, anything that gives that skill EXP has to be stopped for the day. So you can only level a skill up once a day. So if you're foraging and you level up, you gotta stop foraging for the day/cutting trees. Etc.
So pretty much, the higher levels you are, the longer you're able to do stuff, but then it resets and slows you down again. Like with early fishing, you can only fish for a little bit each day. Then later levels you can fish much longer. And it also helps prevent over-focusing on one thing. Gives the days more variety. I think it's nice 'cause I don't like getting near the end game, and i hate when all my skills are maxed out and it feels like there's nothing to do anymore.
I like doing this with SDVExpanded and Ridgeside on the Immersive Farm.

After the first hurricane I'd have spread my crops out a little, or maybe made them into a line to reduce the possible destruction impact. I don't do speedrun stuff, so I think I'm not as attached to the habits of keeping everything so compact and close to the door.
Tax evasion leads to 3x prices and hate from NPC's. Also add rotting to stored crops to make it more difficult.
I love the added commentary from the actual run a lot, 'there's 2 of them :(' sounds so sad lol
Odd enough Foraging is the first skill I tend to max. I grab everything I can and always turn them into seeds.
By start of year 2 I am planting 30-40 spring seeds at a time. I want that skill that lets me see arrows towards pickups.
I feel the truest difficulty would be for the deed to the land to expire and now you that you left the city for nothing, which makes you homeless
none of this scared me until you mentioned taxes, dear god.

What would be purely torture is if the community center Items you had to get a lot more like say you have 8 options to collect but you only need 4 to complete the option but in the mod you needed all of them😂

my hard version is that when it comes to growing crops. I can only grow 9 of one type at a time. At Level 0, I can only grow 9 crops. At level 1, I can grow 18 crops. At Level 2, I can grow 36 crops. Each level adds 9x(the level number) of soil I can till. I also use the PJJ More fruits n veggies so it encourages growing variety, and no rushing.
So basically, the first thing I plant is 1 passion fruit and 8 spinach. Then another 8 spinach once those are ready. That levels me up to 1. This opens up 9 more tilled soils. Then I plant 8 potato and 9 Kale. When I level up again, then I can plant a green bean, cauliflower, and parsnip, and whatever will give the most exp, and only up to 9 of that crop. So Green Cabbage, Onion, and more Kale. :>
It's not really a "hard version" it's more like a "No rushing" version.
