      Remember though, that commas were not in the original text. When the scriptures were translated, the commas were entered later, so they had to guess where they thought the commas were. Think about how it would read if the text was "Truly I say to you today, you will be with me in paradise." They put the comma before the word today instead of after the word today. The meaning changes completely just because of the placement of the comma.

      As Robinsnest mentioned, there is no comma, so you have to decide where it goes and you can't put it where it would completely contradict ALLL the scriptures in the OT and NT mentioned in the video or Jesus's words Himself, as He told Mary upon His resurrection He had NOT yet ascended to the Father. So, clearly Jesus wasn't telling the thief TODAY he would be in paradise, but rather Jesus was telling him today, he WILL be with Him in paradise.

      Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
      Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; *for I am not yet ascended to my Father* but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
      Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her.
      Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

      Hi @damianmcallister3655, Great question! When it comes to the story of the rich man and Lazarus, we can be certain that this story is a parable, and not to be taken literally. The vast majority of Bible scholars, from multiple denominations agree on this. There are at least 4 reasons we can be sure about this.
      1. Abraham’s bosom (where the beggar is taken when he dies) is not a literal place, it is figurative.
      2. Those in Heaven and those in hell cannot communicate with each other. (The Bible never suggests this is possible.)
      3. The rich man was in hell with a literal body (eyes, tongue, etc.) right after death. (We know that the body goes back to the ground at death.) Even people who falsely believe that a conscious spirit lives in Heaven after death agree that the body returns to the ground.
      4. God would not contradict the rest of the Bible, which says the dead know nothing, and are not in Heaven.
      Parables are figurative stories that are meant to teach a lesson. Jesus shared this parable to stress that we must believe and obey the Bible during our short time on this earth - we will not have a second chance after death.

    • @HopeProphecy
      @HopeProphecy  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Hi @brettd6951, great question! when reading the Bible it's important to read everything in context but also to take note of the grammar. In the original text there are no commas. By adding a comma, as in your example above, the meaning of verse changes. Note the same verse without the comma.
      "Truly I say to you today that you will be with Me in paradise." If we read it like this the emphasis is put naturally after the word today instead of you. Now the verse reads like this: Truly I say to you today, right now (in this moment that we are speaking) that you will be with me in paradise." In other words Jesus, in that moment, was giving the thief the guarantee that he would be rememered for paradise when He returned the second time.

    Exceptions? What?
    Were Enoch, Elijah and Moses taken up to heaven without dying as so many believe? Are you 100% sure?
    “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter.” (Prov. 25:2)
    First, you have to truly believe what our Lord and Master said as most people don’t. Our Lord clearly said, “NO ONE has ascended to heaven" (John 3:13). If Enoch, Elijah and Moses ascended into heaven, then the statement that our Lord made would be....A LIE! If he would have said, “no one but Enoch, Elijah and Moses in that verse, it would change everything. The plain fact of the matter is - he didn’t. He said “no one” which means just that: NO ONE! Don’t you believe what Christ said?
    If Enoch, Elijah and Moses were taken up to heaven, this would have given these men of God preeminence to our Lord and take away the very power and meaning of our Lord's glorious resurrection.
    What we find in Acts 2:29 and 34 clearly illustrates this fact. It says that righteous King David was still in his grave about 1,000 years after his death! Remember Jesus' comment in John 10:35, "the Scripture cannot be broken." That is, its teachings are consistent throughout. The biblical teaching is the resurrection of the body. Going up into heaven is not the reward or the destiny of the saved (John 3:16, Matt. 5:5). There is not one Bible verse that says we go up into heaven. Not a single one!
    Hebrews 11:5 tells us, "Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death." The verse continues with a quotation from Genesis 5, saying that he "was not found." The wording implies that someone was looking for him so that he would see death, and that God protected him by removing him to a safe place. Some assumed that God took him to up to heaven, but the verse clearly does not say that. "Taken away" ("translated" in the King James Version) is from the Greek word "metatithemi" and it means "to transfer to another place”. If you read a few verses further regarding all the people that were used as great examples of faith, Enoch included, you will find this for it is written:
    “ALL THESE PEOPLE were still living by faith WHEN THEY DIED. They DID NOT RECEIVE THE THINGS PROMISED; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth.” (Her. 11:13).
    All of them died including Enoch. Take it a step further for it is written:
    “And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.” (Gen. 5:24).
    It is written that Enoch “walked with God” (past tense) and then “he was not”. If God took him up to heaven, wouldn’t Enoch still be walking with God? How clear and simple, but the world refuses to accept the truth of what is actually written and let the Bible explain itself.
    Now, what of Elijah-did God take him to up to heaven? Without reading the full account of the history of Judah and Israel, one might easily assume that 2 Kings 2:11 reports the death of Elijah and his subsequent removal from earth up to heaven. What was the "heaven" to which Elijah was taken? Scriptures speak of three heavens:
    • The first, the atmosphere that envelops the earth (Genesis 1:8).
    • The second, what we call "space" (Genesis 15:5).
    • The third, the location of God's throne (2 Corinthians 12:2).
    The prophet was supernaturally transported to a different location-through the "heaven" of earth's atmosphere-allowing his associate, Elisha to step into the office of the chief prophet to Israel. If Elijah actually taken up to heaven, why on earth would the 50 men among the company of prophets be searching for him? They knew exactly what happen to him for it is written:
    “The company of the prophets from Jericho, who were watching, said, “The spirit of Elijah is resting on Elisha.” And they went to meet him and bowed to the ground before him. “Look,” they said, “we your servants have fifty able men. Let them go and look for your master. Perhaps the Spirit of the Lord has PICKED HIM UP AND SET HIM DOWN ON SOME MOUNTAIN OR IN SOME VALLEY.”
    “No,” Elisha replied, “do not send them. But THEY PERSISTED UNTIL HE WAS TOO EMBARRASSED TO REFUSE. So he said, “Send them.” And they sent fifty men, WHO SEARCHED FOR THREE DAYS but did not find him.” (2 Kings 2:15-17).
    Again, why are 50 men searching for Elijah and Elisha giving the ok if Elisha thought Elijah was in heaven? See how foolish this is already?
    If you read the Bible further you will discover, Elijah was not taken up to heaven as he actually wrote a letter some years later to prove it! You can read this letter in 2 Chronicles 21:12-15.
    Going back to “Perhaps the Spirit of the Lord has PICKED HIM UP AND SET HIM DOWN ON SOME MOUNTAIN OR IN SOME VALLEY.” You can see this happen again with Phillip in Acts 8:39-40. Scripture cannot be broken (John 10:35).
    As for Moses, he died and was buried by the Lord (Deut. 34:5-6). He wasn’t taken up to heaven either.
    "But EACH ONE will be raised in PROPER ORDER: Christ, FIRST OF ALL; then, at the time of his coming, those who belong to him." (1 Cor 15:23)
    Let the Bible explain itself as we are not to add or remove to God’s word (Prov. 30:5-6)
    "and the truth will set you free" (John 8:32)

      No one has ever gone into heaven prior to the resurrection, that's why dead saints went to paradise where Abraham, Lazarus and the criminal on the cross was promised to be that day, but after the resurrection all the saints were brought into heaven with God, that's how come Moses and Elijah who should be dead by then were seen in the sky as well when Christ ascended into heaven. Hi @markbouquet1316, Thank you for the question.
      In 2 Corinthians 5:2-8 (the full context of the passage you mentioned), it says this: 2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: 3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked. 4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life. 5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit. 6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: 7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) 8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
      Notice that Paul in (verses 2-4) is saying that, while on this earth, we are clothed with a mortal, earthly body (which he equates with being “naked”), and he desires to be clothed with an immortal Heavenly body - “that mortality must be swallowed up in life”.
      Does Paul indicate when this “mortality must be swallowed up in life”? Yes he does. It will be at the second coming of Jesus: “Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 1 Corinthians 15:51-55
      And yes, to be absent from our present mortal body is to be present with the Lord. When will this happen? At the second coming of Jesus.
      I hope this helps!

      It breaks my heart to think that Jesus did it for us sacrificing him self on the cross for our salvation and said IT IS FINISHED ✅ to now find out that when we died we are all cold and sleeping in a grave or cremated. And that we will all not be immediately go with Jesus he said absent of the body is now present with the lord this is why we serve Jesus in this earth. so we will all have the gift of life with him🙏 so sad to hear this that we die and that’s it just wait on the lord in a died spirit and body I know the body stays but the spirit leaves out of us immediately those of us who our the lord’s children. We have this blessed hope 🙏

    I'm also a devout Christian but have a different viewpoint. The soul doesn't die and doesn't sleep. It is continuous after death. The body sleeps meaning it will be resurrected and reunited with the soul and spirit. In Christianity we are known as souls. Only God can destroy the soul which He is not intending doing yet. Natural death doesn't mean the destruction of it. Our body goes into the grave, our soul and spirit into a spiritual sphere. Scripture attest to this also. Whether it be heaven, hell or Hades, that's up to everyone's interpretation because none of us alive truly knows. I can understand where you coming from and the different viewpoint another Christian may have on this matter shows we don't really know 100% what happens when we die. None of us talking about this are literally dead to know exactly what happens. We all try to figure out scripture. With that said, nothing wrong with Christians having differences of opinion on the matter. The disciples also had different viewpoints of things Christ taught them. Ultimately Christ will correct us all in His time. Let's be bold enough and admit we don't truly know. We are just trying to figure out scripture. Let's remain faithful to our Triune God in spite of our differences of viewpoint/understanding.

      But then there's also passages that say when Jesus returns He will raise both the living and the dead. Very confusing. But regardless, we will one day be in paradise with Christ, and that's all that matters. ✝️

      Hi, When it comes to the story of the rich man and Lazarus, we can be certain that this story is a parable, and not to be taken literally. The vast majority of Bible scholars, from multiple denominations, agree on this.

      Hi @CharityLumiguid, we all die. Only when we are resurrected will we know the outcome of the judgment. The outcome is not known to any now.

    So my question I have as Art Bell may have asked , So what about the many testimonials of People with accounts of NDE “ Near Death Experiences “ and they told of seeing Beautiful places , A Hall of Records , speaking with Christ , and these type of experiences , how do we explain this ?

    • @HopeProphecy
      @HopeProphecy  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Hi @thadiuspennington6574, great question! I'm not saying that the people who claim to have near death experiences (seeing Heaven or Hell) are lying - I assume that they did in fact have visions of some sort. I am saying that these visions are not true and accurate - they could have been generated by the mind, or some other phenomenon, but they are not the truth. I can speak with such confidence because the Bible clearly teaches that the dead know nothing, praise not the Lord, and rest in the grave, awaiting the resurrection. If a dream or vision conflicts with scripture, we must dismiss it as error - :To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them." Isaiah 8:20

    2 Corinthians 5:8 contradicts this video, it says “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” Anyone else see the issue here?

    • @HopeProphecy
      @HopeProphecy  Před 2 dny

      Hi @ShenValleyPicker, In 2 Corinthians 5:2-8 (the full context of the passage you mentioned), it says this: 2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: 3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.

      There is no such scriptures that.
      The state of the dead, according to the word of God.
      But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof *thou shalt surely die*
      {Genesis 2:17}
      Man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?
      ...
      So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their *sleep*
      O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, *until thy wrath be past* that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!
      If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait,
      👉till my change come.
      ...
      His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.
      {Job 14:10, 12-14 & 21}
      And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in *my flesh* shall I see God.
      {Job 19:26}
      Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, *nor knowledge nor wisdom* in the grave, whither thou goest.
      {The Preacher 9:10}
      Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.
      His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; *in that very day his thoughts perish*
      {Psalm 146:3-4}
      Then said his disciples, Lord, if he *sleep* he shall do well.
      Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.
      Then said Jesus unto them plainly, "Lazarus is dead."
      {John 11:12-14}
      ...
      Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection
      👉at the last day.
      Jesus said unto her, "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet *shall* he live:"
      {John 11:24-25}
      But go thou thy way till the end be: for *thou shalt rest* and stand in thy lot *at the end of the days*
      {Daniel 12:13}
      For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him *should not perish* but have everlasting life.
      {John 3:16}
      And *the serpent said* unto the woman, *Ye shall not surely die*
      {Genesis 3:4}
      Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down *in the midst of the stones of fire*
      {Ezekiel 28:14}
      ^
      (satan always turns the tables on God, for he is the father of lies.)
      The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. *Who* among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?
      *He that walketh righteously and speaketh uprightly he that despiseth the gain of oppressions that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil*
      {Isaiah 33:14-15}
      If anyone errors in their understanding of this doctrine of the dead, then they will in no way be led to the understanding of the truth, for it will be a stumblingblock unto the decernment of spiritual things, including soilterology and eschatology.

      Great Question! The Bible is amazing because it speaks for itself, interprets itself, and has a consistent thread throughout. In Isaiah 28:13 we see this confirmed where the prophet tells us to use precept upon precept, and line upon line, here a little and there a little. In other words comparing Scripture with Scripture broadens the perspective and offers context. When we read in Luke we see Jesus speaking to His disciples in parables, already from chapter 15 and continuing into chapter 17. Jesus used parables as relatable illustrations His hearers could identify with, in order to express the lesson He wanted to teach. In this parable of Lazarus and the rich man Jesus was trying to show His hearers that each one of us decides our own destiny by the choices we make while we are still living. We have been given enough evidence and understanding to make informed decisions about whether we'll choose Jesus or not, and nothing beyond that would convince us. "Luke 16:31 If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, even if one rose from the dead." In other words, even if it were possible, it still wouldn't help them decide differently.
