    Thank you for this informational video! I have the same ups and it finally gave up on me last week. After watching your video I had enough motivation to replace the battery myself and save some cash. Inside there were two BB battery SH1228W. I ordered online and swapped them with two upgraded CSB UPS12580 batteries. Everything is running just fine again! No more annoying tone and flashing led. Thanks again!

    Thank you so much for this extremely useful, slow-paced and well-explained video. I'd never have figured how to open those f- panels without breaking them or my nerves. I'd never thought of twisting the screwdrivers!
    Shame on APC for such a complicated procedure. I trashed my old noname UPS for a well-known brand as I thought I'd be simpler to change the battery... But I feel like it'd have been not that much difficult to revive my noname UPS!
    Thanks to you, I have a BX-950UI and replaced its RBC17 today (after 6 years), with a Yuasa NP7-12L. The "L" being important here as it ensures you're getting the battery with 6.3 Faston cable clips, and not 4.8 sized ones like the normal NP7-12.
    I only got trouble replacing the three inner screws which were very thighly set from the factory. Couldn't screw them totally so I left them halfway to avoid damaging the holes.

    To reconnect the battery, I think its best to connect the red (+) first and then the black (-) to avoid sparks. This is very common when connecting battery in car or motorcycle.

    • @TheAdamaty
      @TheAdamaty  Před 4 lety +4

      Hi
      Unplugging the ups from the electricty has 2 disadvantages
      Ur battery in the ups won't be fully charged when u start to use it so it won't give u ur full backup time and if it's a long time it will will go dead
      The other thing if u keep ur ups out of use for a long time and turned off ur life span of ur battery will be alot shorter
      Nothing other than that

    Instead of £100 on a new UPS, I bought a £16 battery thanks to this video.
    Used this video to replace the "non-user serviceable battery" in my Back UPS BX950U, which looks almost identical - just no fan. The BX950 had just one 12v 9Ah battery inside. I replaced it with a very cheap Yucel 12V 7Ah battery. It's only used to give my server enough time to shutdown in a power failure.
    Am I right in thinking I can add another 12V 7aH and link them like in your 1100 video?

    • @TheAdamaty
      @TheAdamaty  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi
      When the 3 light colors lights in intervals during setup means the sensitivity of backup power so when the electricity fluctuations. ..it's how sensitive u want it to be how fast is it responds
      But in normal mode it means it can't support the power equipment plugged into ups which means the battery is weak need to be replaced ... that is in case ur not trying to backup an LCD 60 Inch.😉😉😉

    Thanks a lot! The bigger APC 1400 has the exact same design, except for one cable that ties the main board to the side panel, which only makes the opening of the side panel a bit harder. Otherwise everything is the same. I'm baffled why APC would do so much to prevent users from replacing their own batteries!

    I bought a UPS yesterday and it's APC model BX1100LI. I'm not gonna open it because its' brand new but around 5 years from now when the battery wear out your video will be a big help. The one I bought the front looks identical to yours but on the back two of six outlets are the same as yours but the other four are universal outlets and it doesn't have a fan. According to manual it has a 12 V 9 ah battery and didn't specify how many so when I googled it, it only has one battery instead of two like yours. Which means during power outage the battery drains faster than yours.

    • @TheAdamaty
      @TheAdamaty  Před 6 lety

      Hi bro
      nice info you got there ...UPS are trying to cut down cost to put one battery... but if urs drains out quicker than mine so this means its does not give you a sufficient amount of time if you have a Nice CPU geared with decent VGA cards and power supply that exceeds 1500 watt plus its monitor .... you might consider upgrading it with 2 batteries when they wear out ....one more thing the original battery wont last 5 years ...I think 3 years MAX
      Cheers Buddy

    • @bobskie321
      @bobskie321 Před 6 lety +1

      When the original battery wears out I might gonna replace them with two batteries to increase the capacity but I have to connect them in parallel to maintain the 12 volts supply because connecting in series means they will output in 24 volts damaging the board. Yours is designed to run at 24 volts that's why the batteries are in series. The advantage of 24 volts model is they only draw half the amps compared to 12 volts model during battery mode of the same load wattage. So during power outage they lasts longer before the batteries runs low.

    • @TheAdamaty
      @TheAdamaty  Před 6 lety

      Ya exactly .... your right

    • @bobskie321
      @bobskie321 Před 6 lety +1

      I bought a 2nd battery and connected them in parallel to the original battery and here's what I discovered when run under battery mode by disconnecting it from power outlet. Before I added a second battery the UPS can power the PS4 Pro under battery mode for 8 minutes before it beeps rapidly because the battery is running low (PS4 Pro only playing Uncharted 4 because the TV is connected to another UPS). But when I added a second battery in parallel it runs for 26 minutes before it beeps rapidly because the batteries are running low. However, the UPS became very hot that the top plastic casing where the heat sink is melted. My UPS is not designed to run that long for a high load like the PS4 Pro. I removed the second battery afterwards to prevent overheating when an actual power outage happens.
      Your model is designed to operate at 24 volts that's why they have two batteries in series and the amp load of batteries are half compared to 12 volts model of the same load wattage so it can run the PS4 Pro longer without overheating. For people like me who love modding electronics I want to give them a heads up that if their UPS only has one battery do not add a second battery in attempt to extend run time during power outage because they are not design to run that long for a heavy load like the PS4 Pro. I learned it the hard way. If you want to play games for longer period of time during power outage buy a UPS with larger capacity rather than modding smaller UPS by adding batteries unless your total load wattage is less than 25% of UPS capacity to make sure the UPS doesn't overheat.
