- Few travel experiences come close to the excitement of stepping foot on a brand-new cruise ship. Similar to driving a brand-new car with all the bells and whistles, the experience of cruising on a newly built cruise ship is unmatched. It’s undoubtedly exciting to see the latest and greatest that a cruise line has to offer.
One thing that remains true in the cruise industry is that it's always changing. Within the last year, some highly-awaited cruise ships debuted. Since last summer, Carnival Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, and Celebrity Cruises have each debuted new cruise ships.
I was lucky enough to sail on all four of these incredible new cruise ships within the last few months. All of these cruises were in the Caribbean and varied in length. It was fascinating to see how these state-of-the-art cruise ships were similar, yet so different. Here’s how the ships and onboard experiences compared.

The Celebrity Edge Class ships are just fabulous.
This was an excellent recap of the 4 cruise lines and their newer ships. Having cruised on the Norweigan Prima, RC's Wonder of the Seas, and about to cruise the Celebrity Beyond and Carnival Jubilee...you nailed everything perfectly. We were blown away by the Wonder, and that spoiled us to try the other lines newest ships to compare. You were spot on. For us to consider the Icon, we would have to spend 4X the amount now that we did to sail the Wonder for basically the same entertainment...so that can wait a while. Every ship (and line) has something to offer, depending on your budget and whether you're traveling as a family or couple. Kudos again...
Thank you so much! Glad you agreed with my experiences!
Loved Celebrity Apex! What about the Sun Princess?
Just went on the Jubilee and really had a great time. It’s a beautiful ship!
Very informative and useful. Great video. Princess has the best desserts.
Coming to you from the Icon of the Seas right now. That is crazy. I must've booked before all of the hype done the price up. I booked in Dec 2022 for 7 night Eastern Caribbean, Oceanview most Forward cabin on deck 10 at the very front of the ship with a spectacular view. $3002 total for 2 adults.
You must have book through future cruise for Icon……i have a friend who booked 2 yrs in advance …..he will being going on icon in July……he paid $6k for 4…..he got a great deal…..but he booked so much in advance!! He’s gonna have a great time with his kids!
@@Cocoatreat Actually I just went onto the website and booked directly through Royal Caribbean online. That sounds about comparable with your friend because there were only 2 of us.
@@kmarshie you were very lucky , cuz that price has definitely increased! I’m happy you got a great deal!
I'm totally a RC fan. They have always gone above and beyond in all areas.
Ive been on icon……it’s a lovely ship…..however, its definitely for families…..i am now a big fan of celebrity!!! I’m older….& i love the chill vibe! I didnt have to be around a million kids….my favorite so far is celebrity beyond! (I haven’t been on ascent yet)… i loved the staff and the food was among the best!!! The buffet was just awesome …..it was so good…..i really didnt want to go to the restaurants! They have a 24hr gym…..and a solarium (adults only) now that my kind of ship! I cant wait for my next cruise experience ……! The entertainment was 1st class….i loved everything about that ship!!
Great video.
While the ships are all beautiful, the cost is a big factor for us regular folk
True about the Ascent . I booked a 9 day solo balcony room with a drink and internet package in the southern Caribbean in November for $2900.
I am going on the VIVA on a Greece cruise in July 2025 but not so worried about the lack of entertainment as my excursions will be the main focus of the trip as well as good food & drinks!
Great review. Sailed prima last year in Europe and Ascent next year in the Mediterranean. Ascent looks upscale and modern and was several thousand less than Prima.
We have been on all edge series on Celebrity. We absolutely loved it. But for me, there's no variations in the ships. So we are looking elsewhere. Good reviews. Thanks
Which of the following new cruise ships are you most excited to go on next year: sea princess, Disney treasure, Norwegian dawn, or star of the seas.
Loved loved loved jubilee. RC has been so meh for me
Don't necessarily like the newer cruise ships. Too many other passengers. Don't like crowds and fighting crowds. When on RCCL their food wasn't as good as Carnival. Their service was very poor. RCCL totally missed the time slot they gave us on room service. The only time I saw someone so drunk he could sit on his seat in the MDR was on RCCL. NCL had poor food, service was a little better than on RCCL, but, not by much. Crew members weren't so nice to passengers. Entertainment has gone down in recent years. Carnival Cruise Line had the first dedicated Comedy Club. We used to like Celebrity Cruise Line. Then they have gone down. Does that include a single supplement? Am subscribed.
So, basically…you are a misanthrope who hates everything?? Nice…must be fun to vacation with you!
Surprisingly the Icon never feels crowded and there are about 6800 passengers on board.
Well you know what they say about opinions…Personally I’d never step foot on trashy carnival but to each their own right 🤷🏻♀️
I really therefore like MSC
@@alliepettola3808 Well, there are a lot of good people that take Carnival.
