  • The Warcry 2,0 Rulebook is just around the corner. We got most of the juice via free rules PDFs, but there's one big difference, and that's the narrative rules.

Keen to have gone through all your vids, really hoping you churn out some more Narrative- related ones- it seems like there's been a lot more interest in them!

Nice one, Dan! Another great video :). I keep misremembering the 1.0. campaigns as "ten battles", D'oh! Looking forward to the next vid.
PS - They did rebalance the glory points in 1.0 in the errata, Tome of champs & Red Harvest book, so less runaway leader and I think that's fed into this version. Looking forward to the next vid! 🙌😊

Yeah a few people noted that I missed that errata, which is likely part of why I got frustrated with the campaign I played that did it that way.

@@thesaltyseagames It's great that the design team for this game seem so in tune with the players, and nice to see this carried over into 2. Hope you enjoy more narrative fun! 🙌

The "1 glory for showing up" was fixed with errata and the new table was included in future products all through 1.0.

Good overview but I did want to note a mistake you made regarding the glory point distribution in 1st edition - 1 for playing and 5 for winning was changed to 3 for playing and 2 for winning in the very first Tome of Champions and was included in the first errata published thereafter! So in reality, for most of 1st editions life cycle it used glory distribution very close to what we see in 2.0!
edit: there was also a rudimentary "reputation" bonus in 1.0! In that same re-adjustment to the glory distribution they added a +1 glory bonus if the opposing warband was 2 or more territories stronger than your own.

Yeha Warcry content :) Also love that there is some narrative play.
So if I prefer the story being laid out for me. 1.0 is the better choice? (Starting narrative play this week and have the first two boxes and tome of champions)

I would encourage you to try 2.0 Campaign Arcs, I only briefly mentioned them in this video, but they're these 3-5 battle arcs that come with the Core book and Rot&Ruin that give you an in-depth story to play through.

Great content! thanks for going through the changes.
Just curious if you know about how artefacts work with thralls and monsters in 2.0, do they count as fighters in your warband?
The quests and side panels just say to assign artefacts to a "fighter" in your warband, that obviously includes Heroes, but does it include Thralls and Monsters. Cheers

I think there's a clause in there somewhere about monsters not being able to carry anything. I'm not sure about thralls.

Been playing Warcry for almost a year now. There's a healthy community at my LGS with around 12 regular players. We play a lot of friendly battles, using the battleplan cards and its really fun. We've had a couple of tournaments using matched play rules ofc. We recently "discovered" the narrative campaign rules and they are indeed awesome. We are pretty excited and in the process of starting it: deciding factions, and checking rules. There's a few questions that have come up
    1. If you play with Warcry warbands, you really need dont get much out of the campaign save for hero traits and artifacts? I mean... you cant really hire more heroes or expand your troops (unless you buy the several of the same warband). We do have a ton of Age of Sigmar armies so we are thinking of having everyone play "non warcry warbands" like soulblight gravelords, slaves to darkness, nurgle rootbringers, etc. This way we can really recruit other heroes, thralls, monsters, etc.
    2. There's no set ending for the campaing that we've found? So I guess you could play indefinately (which is obviously cool) but perhaps we are thinking of making it to 20 games for each warband and checking Reputation at the end to decide the winner? Any thoughts on this.

The one thing I missed in this video is the fact that you can give artifacts to non-heroes, just not traits. So you can grab an artifact for your ogor breacher, in an example IG warband.

Me too, it gives them a leg-up for building a memorable story.
