My Dad drove those SCRTD AND LOS ANGELES MTA 1982-1990 I BELIEVE used to see these on line 484 Pomona CA to Los Angeles CA via Holt Ave and Valley Blvd
Ah, the sweet sound of a Cummins L10, my favorite engine. Now, if this girl had an Allison HT740 automatic behind that L10 I'd be happy! How come I only heard it shift into 2nd gear? Please do more vids on this bus, she looks sharp and sounds amazing!
Because the ECM was bad at the time this was shot preventing the transmission from shifting into 3rd as a protection, since then, the ECM has been replaced and it is functioning as designed.
I feel l'll never hear or ride an L-10 Flxible with a Voith again in my life, but this is a great video. I grew up on these and there are very few left. If you see this, please contact me, it would make my life to ride this bus.
@@Bus.Chronicles Thank you for the reply. I live in Omaha (Metro Area Transit), where growing up, we had 1988 Flxibles with L-10's and Voiths. They were numbered 8001 and so on, and I think they had about 60 of them. I have a great many memories as a kid with this setup. If you want to pm me, I definitely would make it the point of a road trip to ride this bus in the next year or two.
I wish I could ride on a big Harley Davidson motorcycle with a Cummins L10 engine. And the motorcycle would sound like this Bus! The Motorcycle would have the same Cummins L10 engine as the bus except in motorcycle form.😎😎💖💖💖💖💖🇺🇸🇺🇸
Damn that Cummins sounds good, ASMR material!
totally and completely! such a satisfying sound!
I remember riding on one of these on the Busway....we were flying by traffic and traffic was at full speed.
This thing looks, handles, and sounds like a modern "Greyhound" coach barreling down the highway. Very nice bus, I wish NYC stuck with them.

Great restoration of your bus guys
Thanks, got a lot more to go.
Is that the Cummins L10 with a 3-Speed Voith?
Sure is, one of the best sounding pairings around!

I've always imagined my Suzuki Gs500 with an DD8v71 and sounding like a MC9 when traveling down the highway!
