I love that you threw a baby shower for yourself!! Every baby should be celebrated. I also love that you explain what is happening to your body and why you need certain things. I am passionate about childbirth education. Wish I had that afterbirth tincture when I had my kids especially after my last birth which was a home birth. I remember throwing up from the after birth contractions. That probably would have helped tremendously.
I had my first child at 15. My uncle and aunt wouldn't go to my baby shower because "That baby should not be celebrated!!" I was so mad!!!

@@tammyr2966 Thanks so much.... Yeah, it was a really difficult time. But my mom went ALL out for my baby shower. She supported me through EVERYTHING. Very grateful God gave me her.
Just a word of advice for moms overwhelmed buying a car seat: they all have to meet the same safety requirements at the end of the day. Don’t have mom guilt for not splurging on the priciest ones with all the bells and whistles. Ultimately one of the most important factors to consider is if it’s user friendly, because if you aren’t installing the seat and buckling your baby correctly those bells and whistles mean nothing.
Absolutely! And taking the time to learn the in's and out's of the carseat, so you aren't left feeling frustrated when it comes time to adjust it.
Some babies grow out of them by 6 months so you don't use them long
So right! My father worked for a car company's hq. He gave me a crash report for a year before my son was born. So many car seats have "fails" due to installed incorrectly or the child was installed incorrectly.
I agree my top 3 things in getting a car seat is how easy is it to use, does it work with my vehicle and is it comfortable/fits baby.
Yes! When I was buying a car seat the guy at Babies R Us said the same thing.. you are buying the brand name, upgraded fabrics and bells and whistles

When you announced your pregnancy I was starting my wedding planning and I've kept you in mind knowing that your due date follows closely behind my big day. And every time I saw one of your videos and you were getting closer to your due date I was reminded that I'm getting closer to my wedding date! I'm happy to say that I'm about to get married next week and your videos have kept me company through most of the process and made it real fun! All the best for you and the baby ❤️

The only thing I wish I had known about when I had my first was perineal massage. I had a big baby with a big head and that massage would've likely helped me get her out easier. Also delayed cord clamping helps a ton with preventing jaundice. Literally just a minute of waiting before clamping and cutting the umbilical cord is enough to get your baby most of that good blood into their body and out of the cord. Good luck! No matter what, the most important thing is that you and baby are safe and healthy, everything else is extra. You've got this!
I promise friend the little details do Not matter. The stress you’re feeling with (mostly) dissolve. Once that baby is placed in your arms all is right in the world. ♥️ Will you still worry?! Heck yeah! But it’s the most magical experience. Praying for you. 🥰

I'm due at the end of November too, the 29th. I'm totally terrified, but I agree, her nonchalant attitude reminds me that women do this every day. Here we go mama! It's almost our turn.
That’s exactly what I did! I watched her videos religiously while I was pregnant! And join some good mom groups on Facebook! I am in like 3 and that has helped ease my mind aaaaa looot! I can ask all my questions and people are so kind! I know a lot of people will worry about labor! I watched merideths birth video that they did and that really helped ease my mind for labor. I also did the miles circuit for about 3 days and that helped engage babies head! I did guided meditations as well.
I love the way you talk about pregnancy & postpartum! You give great advice without being pushy. I just had my first baby 3 months ago and wish I had someone to give me this type of advice! More people need to talk about the reality of postpartum & how to make it easier when possible
Loved the Maxi Cosi Mico infant car seat for our son. Lightest car seat on the market!! Definitely required when your baby is born a whopping 9 pounds 7 ounces.

I wish I had known about postpartum kits when I was having my children. It's great to see new products that are available. My oldest daughter isn't planning on having children yet, but I have told her it's not necessary to buy everything new. I like Once Upon a Child.
I had to have 2 C-sections and the belly bands afterward are a LIFESAVER....the support is soooo nice! I hope you enjoy it!
This was such a joy to watch! Felt like I was actually there. I am due with my 4th Nov 30th. I was also pregnant when you were pregnant with Meredith, and had my daughter Nov 12th. Its an awesome feeling to feel like you are apart of a long distance family. Thank you Kim for all that you do ❤️
I used Mustella on my last baby 11 years ago and the smell is so nostalgic to me and to her!!! She actually smelled it with me at Target the other day and said it smelled so familiar. I didn’t tell her I used it for her as a baby before she said that.

I got the Wishgarden tincture because you recommended it and I needed no ibuprofen, Tylenol-nothing. Totally natural birth and absolutely no meds after either. The nurses couldn’t believe it!♥️ Thank you for the suggestion! If we have any more babies, it’ll be the first thing I buy lol!!

We got pregnant with aby #5 when baby #4 was 2-1/2 months old so I thought I was set with baby gear at first. Got surprised with twins! One of everything wouldn't cut it. Some things we needed 2 of, and where we still had a baby under one when they were born, some things we needed 3 of. 3 baby boys in under a year...chaotic but love our Three Stooges. I love that you did a baby shower. Drives me nuts when people say only have one for the first. In my circle, we've always celebrated each and every baby. They're all deserving, and in a crazy world, always a wonderful thing to celebrate the happy moments!! ❤❤🤱🏻
I'm here nursing my little one and watching all these baby necessities makes me feel overwhelmed! 😂 Only bc I just went through it with my 3rd baby. I'm so tired, so kudos to mamas that got more than me! Lol
3 is hard!! My youngest is almost 3 now and it just feels "easier" because he plays with his sisters and lets me get stuff done.

JOY ! From an elderly English mother-of-five - I WISH you had been around 41 years ago - I WISH perineal cooling pads had been around - I WISH cloth nappies (diapers) had had buttons and a place for liners and hadn’t been just squares of towelling that needed origami-skills - I WISH we had been ‘allowed’ to co-sleep - I WISH there would have been nighties that were gathered at the ends (I made my own) - I WISH there had been onesies instead of vests. I kept on having babies until 1990 - so all those things came - EXCEPT THE PERINEAL PADS …,
my No.5 is 27 now and brings joy every day - a surprise and VERY energetic boy after a row of 3 girls - he kept this mum-in-her-40’s running and fit ! . GOOD LUCK lovely girl ❤️❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧
I have 2 grown son's, when first son was born, he LOVED being swaddled, tighter the better and as he grew , he still sort of swaddled himself with blankets. Second son, from moment he came out, he did not like being swaddled, just a recieving blanket draped over him. And as he grew ,he'd have a blanket over the core of his body, legs and arms out.

Mum is doing really well the outcome from her hip replacement is excellent, she ended up being in Hospital/rehabilitation for over 3 weeks now doing an outpatients programme but it was time well spent having the extra long stay. I came home last Friday and it's been wonderful, catching up on snuggles with my Bunny Rabbit who missed me so much. Thankyou for stopping by to say Hi 👋 😊

Sorry your child is going through medical issues, praying things will go well for you. We have 6 children the oldest 13 and the youngest 6 months , we might have more in the future🤷♀️
Only thing I’d say is after market car seat inserts like the ones you bought are not safe for use since they’re not tested by the manufacturer. You can use them in the stroller or bouncer but not safe for car seat.
I need to go to once upon a child more often, you found such great stuff!

You bring so much joy and I always laugh when I watch your videos. I am going to be a great grandma in Dec and I plan on a trip to Once Upon a Child. Love that store. Also my daughter was planning her daughter's birthday party and went into labor while she made the cake. So she went to the hospital and delivered her second daughter the day before the party. We had the party in her hospital room. My, at that time, 3 year old granddaughter didn't care because she got gifts, cake and cousins packed into the room. It was memorable.
We had an infant car seat, but when our son was ready to transition, we got the Evenflo Revolve 360 and I LOVE it. Saves my back every day. But nothing beats having an infant carrier you can take out of the car!

I love what you said about every mama being right. You have to do what works for you. (I'm 54, a grandma, and other than head coverings I only comment to myself... "That baby should have on socks or at least a blanket!" And I live in a 4 season climate. 😆😆
Hi Kim, I’m a CPST. Those inserts for the car seat are not safe. Everything that came with your car seat is all that you need. That stuff is not crash tested in the car seat and can cause your car seat to malfunction.

Earthley makes a ease the ache which is good for after delivery and period cramps- really good and reasonable price and their customer service is awesome. I had a friend with 5 kids tell me when I was pregnant with my third that it definitely gets worse the after pain with the third and I have experienced that for sure with my 3rd and 4th births. Now I tell everyone not to be surprised at this because often we don’t know and we aren’t told except by another mama with usually 4+ kids.

So jealous you got this deal, great Target tip! That’s the car seat we got for our baby due in 26 days! Was recommended to me by 3 other mothers of multiple children. It’s light weight and pretty comfortable to carry.

I am seriously enjoying all this baby content! I love it! Definitely gonna highly consider buying a glider like that! Also tip on the car seat inserts from a car seat tech, your seat you bought actually came with all the inserts you'll need! The inserts are really a myth because there's not a single seat on the market that allows them to be used either! They are great though for use in strollers and bouncers etc!
I love how informative this video is. Like the explanation on why we bleed after. I am a mother to 3 but I love how you assume we are not all seasoned mommas. This video is great for first time or repeat preggo moms! 💛

Had my girl and boy twins in 1985. We had absolutely nothing! Never had a baby shower. Bought a box full of t-shirts (no onesies back then) and receiving blankets at a yard sale. Babies slept in dresser drawers on bedside tables. Eventually my in-laws bought one crib, we had to buy the mattress. Was able to get another later. Had enough cloth diapers to get me through one day. "Short story long", we struggled but survived. If I'd had the option, I'd would have gone all out on baby stuff and MOMMY CARE! This was fun and so helpful for new mommies. You are a treasure.

Some advice from a mom of 5 and a car passenger safety tech, please don't use those newborn inserts for the car seat. They invalidate your warranty, they're not tested or safe, and your car seat comes with an infant insert that works just fine and is tested to be used with that specific seat. They are great for strollers and swings though. With the maxi cosi, you can get a really nice stroller second hand and use the adapters. I'd recommend a baby jogger city mini gt for you. It folds super small, does great for parks and fairs and the beach, and has tons of accessories to make it work for your family. The one I have currently I paid $20 for it at the goodwill outlet and I use it for my 45+lb neighbor and it still rides like a dream.
The belly band was awesome - I had a C-section for my last baby since he was breach and I have to say that the after squishys and like discomfort I felt was helped immensely! It felt like it put stuff where it belonged!
Yes’s!! Ihave had four csections and I put the belly binder on the second day post op. It kept everything in and helped keep my abdomen tight so it didn’t hurt to cough or laugh. It does give you a false sense of “healed” though and can make it easier to do too much too soon.
I had one too!! LOVED it...I was shocked by how much my stomach felt like it was going to fall off with out it!! I think I wore min a solid 2 months and swear it's what helped my (now non existing) abs come back together!! I even bought a second one because waiting for it to dry was hard...lol

My pelvic floor physiotherapist said they're not good because they keep the muscles weak but if you have a deep ab separation it's nice to not feel like your insides are falling out when you bend over 😂
@@joanna0988 riiiight!! I used it for 6-8 weeks on and off it was amazing. I understand their concern but for the first two months everything is weak anyways.

I haven’t had a baby in well over 30 yrs so all that stuff to me was very fancy schmancy. I can say that those belly bands should be a great comfort for you. I had surgery a few years ago and picked up a couple. The kinds people use for exercising. It was such a comfort in my abdomen and back. Thanks for inviting us to your shower! 🤰👶

My daughter is 21 now and I cannot believe all of the things that are needed now. I didn’t even pack a hospital bag until the dr said I needed to be at the hospital at 4pm to be induced since I have developed preeclampsia. I was 17 so I just threw some pajama sets and some baby outfits into a bag since I knew the hospital or one of the grandparents could get me anything I needed. I was at least prepared with my nursery and had everything there that I needed. And for a car seat we just bought the one that came attached to a stroller and seemed to have plenty of padding to me but seeing all of the fancy ones now I am shocked. And we didn’t buy a baby monitor because the nursery was right next door and that girl had lungs. I would be up all night with her while doing my government homework. It was a super fun time 😝 One thing I know now that I did completely right. I refused to “be quiet for baby” we used our normal voices, had lots of visitors, friends would come over for movies and parties and stuff. I was a theatre nerd so our parties consisted of pizza and a play or musical. And I knew I got it right because that kid can now sleep through the apocalypse. She has always been an amazing sleeper !

Purchased Maxi Cosi for my 7week old granddaughter, her parents just love it. They added a rocker for her, they were so impressed with the car seat, I just sent a stroller . I guess we're Maxi Cozi obsessed. Kim I'm so happy for you and Alex to be having your 5th child, you're great parents.

Very bitter sweet memories! My first child was too heavy for the baby carrier 2 weeks after birth... I quickly switched to a trolley! Even know I swore to myself that I wouldn't be one of those moms... He stayed in the trolley until 3.5 years old! 🤣🤣🤣

With my second baby I decided to buy a Graco Extend to Fit Convertible seat from the get go. It's the seat I purchased for my first after she outgrew her infant seat and it can be used from the start (rear facing >4lbs) all the way to a booster with the cars seat belt. I'll never buy another type of seat again. I bought one for my third and any other babies I am blessed with (Lord willing) will get the same.

Absolutely LOVE that you invited me to your baby shower!!! I think that you should make some videos for pregnant Moms (and Dads) - you are awesome at explaining everything - wish I had known (30+ years ago) what was happening in my body when I was pregnant - then delivering. DO IT!!!! I believe people need you explaining it all with lots of laughs included!

Aquaphor was wonderful. We used it on my oldest grandson of course now he’s 18 but we used it for him he had which he still has problems with eczema and that just really Sooth’d it. Lotion that was recommended by his allergist is Eucerin. I have a friend that has such sensitive skin she just couldn’t find anything and I gave her a sample of that and she swears by it now it doesn’t break her out or anything.

The belly band was a lifesaver after my C-section. You engage your core for everything, even standing upright and my abdominal muscles were so weak after surgery. The band made my feel 100% better and more capable.

I'm due the 27th with this baby! So we're close and pretty much have all of the same items! I LOVE the Frida items - kept pretty much all the non-used stuff from my first baby and saved the nursing gown and the peri bottle and loveeee them both. I'll have to keep up on whether or not the gummies are worth it and whether or not the lactation ones make a difference!
Car seat safety IS standard and every car seat is held to the same standard additional things are usually weight of the cars eat and additional padding.
