- Solo Sea Kayaking Scotland - The Firth of Forth
Four days of solo paddling on the Firth of Forth in 2023
There is such a wide variety of trips in this area, Island hopping, the famous Forth bridges, wartime defence buildings, an isolated lighthouse, very large military and leisure ships. Throw in some strong tides and open water crossing and you have awesome few days paddling in an urban environment
0:00 Intro
0:51 Day 1- The Islands of Crammond, Inchmickery and Incholm, along with the Oxcars lighthouse and the Cow and Calf skerries
08:13 Day 2 - The HMS Prince of Wales aircraft carrier and the Forth bridges
11:45 Day 3 - A visit to Inchkeith island and the wartime defence buildings
16:40 Day 4 - the Jewel of the seas and the Forth bridge - Sport
Great video! I’ve done a number of those trips myself and really enjoyed revisiting with you! Thanks.
Thanks Alan😁
I interrupted Miami Grand Prix Practice 1 to watch this one 🤣 - and I’m so pleased I did - superb 👌
Thanks Norman, pleased it was worth the disruption🤣
Great video, you have so much history over there. Those bridges are impressive.
Thanks, yea its an impressive area tp paddle
Hi Bob, Peter here from Aus. I am an avid follower of your adventures. I particularly like the way you use a single camera to great effect. I appreciate the fact that you are happy to kayak solo on some of your adventures. I know how difficult it is to find paddles buddies after retirement. Mostly they are doing anything but participating in ""risky"adventures"".
Loved seeing the Firth of Forth bridge from your angle. A beautiful structure I have only observed via Michael Portillo's rail journeys. Thanks so much for the opportunity to see more of the kayaking destination of my dreams. Scotland, and in particular the inner Hebrides.
Hi Peter, thanks for the kind comments. Sometimes I prefer to Kayak solo, sea kayakers can be a very strange bunch🤣 I have to agree, the Hebrides, both inner and outer are amazing
There's so much I could say about this video, but I can sum it up with one word Fantastic.
Such an amazing paddle with lots of beautiful views and great information too.
You're so lucky to get to see that aircraft carrier so close, and the ferry was awesome to see up close too. Very nice of them workmen to let you have a look around the lighthouse that was very interesting.
All the way through the video I was thinking where's the seal's and just as I had given up One popped up to say hi.
Looking forward to your next adventure.
Well, thank you so much for the kind words. Yea there was a shortage of seals this time, usually there are more in this area
Hi Bob from another Bob Evans in British Columbia (Campbell River) great video and commentary
Thanks very much Bob Evans 😅
Great video, I love that the lightouse painters let you up to the top
Thank you. Yes I was cheeky enough to ask, and they seemed very happy to oblige 😁
Another first for me I have never seen a real, Rail gun. ty.
This is a first for Me I have never seen a Lighthouse being painted. ty.
....nor had I before😁
@@getwet501 It's a I never thought about it. Un-till I just saw it kinda thing.
Fascinating, what a great few days kayaking, thanks Bob.
Thanks😁
Another great video Bob. I have yet to go over the New Bridge, as the last time I went over the Fourth was when the Queensferry Bridge was being built. We were stopped in traffic and could see them bringing in a span of the bridge. Sadly wasn't there long enough to see it put into position. I did try last year to go over it, but cocked up and ended up Glasgow way instead, on our way to Oban to camp for the night before heading on to Mull.
Thank you... my Dad lives close to the bridges, I get to paddle the area a fair bit
Great exploration trip Bob thanks for taking us with you again ❤
Thank you 😁
