I am a 5 time sepsis survivor!! I just got home 2 weeks ago after 19 months in 2 hospitals and then a rehabilitation facility. I also had necrotizing fasciitis. On life support and in ICU for 42 days at the beginning. Doctors have used the word “miracle” to describe me. I now have irreversible kidney failure. Dialysis 3X a week 1 hr away from home. I too am a two time sepsis & septic shock survivor due to UTI Infections. The first time I was hospitalized my symptoms were a pressure headache, dizziness, nausea and extreme fatigue. The next day I was unconscious and couldn’t wake up. My husband called 911. I was hospitalized for a week with uremia with sepsis. The second time was two months later and again couldn’t wake up. I was hospitalized in the ICU with septic shock. These last two years have taken a toll in my health. It’s been a roller coaster with more hospitalizations. Prior to all of this, I had a traumatic injury where I was hospitalized for a month. I had a long and slow recovery. I’m a fighter and a survivor 🙏🙏🙏
3 rounds of sepsis in 10 months. The last one severe. Took away rheumatoid arthritis from it, surgical incision won’t fully close for over a year, lost almost all of my hair. And I am still alive though. I remember the moment I couldn’t lift my arms anymore, not the slightest bit. It’s hard to explain but you will know what I mean, you feel yourself passing on. I don’t remember hardly anything coherent from months of ICU, step down unit, regular floor. I just recently developed enough strength to step up the sidewalk without an aid. And I am still alive. It’s a miracle and the biggest blessing. I am a single mother and I am always grateful for still being alive. It feels good to write this out in words, knowing that you guys can relate and I can relate to you. ❤️

My mom just passed in October from a septic shock...we suspect negligence since NO ONE told us of a sepsis diagnosis nor was she treated from it until the rehab center--she was at after her first hospital discharge for a bowel injury--ordered an EMT transport to another facility where they actually had to repair the reopening of the initial wound (botched job by first surgeon) and diagnosed her as Septic...however it was too late for a successful treatment. She passed 3 days after her second surgery from Low BP. The most devastating day of my life!! I lost my mom/best friend due to incompetence on the first hospital and rehab's behalf. My mom could have been saved if she were never ordered to go to rehab while discharged with sepsis. She just turned 50 this year and had so much more life in her. My siblings now have to grow up without our mom and it is extremely heartbreaking to witness as the eldest sibling. My mom passed 30 mins to an hour after I got an emergency call to be with her in the ICU...I believe she held on until I got there to pass. I truly hope there is a heaven because life is too unfair for the just abd innocent. I need to be with my mom again....this hurts too much.
Brother sorry for your loss 🥺 Also my mom passed in this October from sepsis and she is just 50 years old...she was doing his daily work and then feel cold because of instant low blood pressure. We admit her in hospital with in just 15 min. But doctor enable to detect the cause (sepsis) and they wasted her 3 critical hour then we admit her in another hospital but it's too late 😭......but i m preety sure in heaven i will be her little boy again 🤱❤️😭
Godspeed for your Peace lost my Mom 7/11/2020 and her husband 7/21/2020 they both died from sepsis I wasn't permitted to see my Mom she died alone 😢😭 bcuz of Covid I wasn't permitted in hospital by time I got clearance she died at 3:10am before I got to her still I'm not right hurts so much both of them dying 10 days apart seems very off something not right 60 and 67 years old
Wonderful story! I’m glad to hear she survive sepsis! I recently lost my mother to sepsis. And I vowed to her and to myself to get educated on this horrific condition.
Me too ...my Mom 7/11/2020 and my step Dad too 7/21/2020 they both died from sepsis and my Mom died alone due to Covid bcuz I wasn't permitted into the hospital just couldn't believe it still have hard time accepting

I'm in the middle of surviving it now. The fever and chills are unbearable to me. A. Fever of 105.2 degrees after ibuprophen and fluids IV. Mine started with a tooth abscess, I wouldn't wish this on anybody.
Same here.. I’m on a very strong antibiotic through picc line for 12 weeks now. The infection affected my bones. Very painful but I’m hanging in there and will continue to fight
I can relate to this video and so glad to still be alive was given the same treatment after admission into hospital by ambulance. I also needed 2 cycles of CPR with adrenaline and it eas only after waking up in Intensive care and complaining of stomach and back pain they found stones in my gallbladder and installed a drain. Very grateful towards the Doctor's and Nurses for all the help and support 🙏
You got sepsis from gallstones that you weren't aware of? Did your skin color look weird? Did you have any pain in your upper right quadrant of your midsection? Did you have any other symptoms you remember? Do you know how long you may have been this way before you finally ended up in the ICU? I ask because I've been to doctors who find nothing wrong. My skin color is off. My palms are red and blotchy. All of my skin is blotchy really. My heart races uncontrollably sometimes and it's not my heart causing it. I feel cold and chill when everyone else is warm. I'm outwardly in fantastic shape because I cycle 60 miles daily and have for the past 20 years. I'm 54 and I know my body and something is wrong. Doctors are unconcerned because of how I look. I think I have sepsis and something wrong with my gallbladder. I'm thinking about taking NAC+Tudca to see if it helps clear my bile ducts and fixes itself because every doctor I've seen is incompetent. Glad you survived your encounter. Any insight you could provide would be invaluable. 🙏
@@johnb1344 I'm pretty sure CBC is one of the standard tests done when you see the doctor. I'm sure it's been done at least once. Perhaps they got test results mixed up or something because mine should have shown something. It's been 4 years I've been dealing with this. It all started with a tooth that I couldn't get fixed during the pandemic lockdowns. It just rotted out and it's long gone so I never bothered going to the dentist.
This is such a moving story! when she talks about losing her baby...just😢! We're seeing more of this in hospitals; especially, multiple drug resistant organisms (MDRO)! This video does a great job of advocating for clinical trials.
I recently had a similar experience except in my case,it was because of a toxic mega colon and I wound up having to be rushed into emergency surgery and the head of the surgery team later told my parents that I came within 2 hours of dying. I don’t actually remember much of anything about that experience,my parents told me about it after the fact. Anyway,as a result of the septsis poisoning I lost the ability to walk and I couldn’t move my arms and I had to spend 3 1/2 months in a rehab center and I finally got to go home a couple of weeks ago,it’s like Dorothy from the wizard of oz said,there’s no place like home.and she definitely right about that!🙂

My husband had Strep pneumonia in 2021 which went septic. We thought it was COVID for a day, but when he had trouble breathing we went to the E. R. It was two days before Thanksgiving.He was in the ICU on a Bipap machine a few hours later. Heart rate was very high,fluids were accumulating in his body. On Thanksgiving night he went into acute congestive heart failure. He came within minutes of dying, due to fluid compressing his heart. His knee swelled up( he'd had a total knee replacement a couple years ago) with infection and fluid. It was only the skill and attention of the doctors and nurses in the ICU that saved him. Six days later he was moved to a regular room. The next day X-rays showed what looked like infection in his chest and his white blood count shot up. A thoracic surgeon did an emergency VAT procedure. Three tubes were inserted into his chest and used to flush out infection. The doctor scraped infection from his ribs and the edges of his lungs. It was one of the worst cases she'd seen. She stayed with him until 10 pm, to be sure he didn't need a blood transfusion or to go back to the ICU. Her diligence and care for him saved his life again, although she gave no promises of a good recovery. Since the rehab units were filled with COVID patients he came home on Dec.20 on two IV meds, which I had to administer. Five days later he had surgery to remove infection from his knee. His gall bladder was threatened throughout his illness but it healed. He remained on IV meds until March. My husband lost 37 pounds in one month and his recovery was hard, but somehow he survived and recovered completely over time. The next year he survived prostate cancer- 44 radiation treatments. He also had bladder and kidney stones and a trip to the E.R. with a blood clot in his catheter which almost burst his bladder. This winter he had a cold and COVID but is well now. I know my husband's recovery from sepsis is a miracle. No major complications so far. In spite of his other health issues we feel incredibly lucky he is still alive.
There is one very intelligent very nice very good person. Thank God she recovered. We need more people like her on this planet and especially in this country.
I had Sepsis 2 years ago. I had been really ill with a bladder infection and the dr put me on Nitrofuriton. I continued to be ill until I was semi conscious. The ambulance took me to the hospital. After 2 weeks and many tests I was on lemonade only as well as drips. A doctor woke me in the middle of the night and said if your blood pressure drops one more point do you want to be resuscitated. She then said if you recover you will be in a wheelchair and on dialysis the rest of your life. Well I am elderly so said no, and went back to sleep. I recovered but can’t walk and my fingers are weak. It is a terrible thing. I noted the antibiotics for you as was told that was toxic for a lot of older people and that triggered my numb feet.
This doctor is so on top of his game. The moment i saw an exotic country in this story, i suspected sepsis but that trial part was something i wasn’t expecting. Well done Cooper hospital!
I had sepsis twice. Went into septic shock the first time and I don’t remember much. The second time I was completely with it and I remember trying to will my blood pressure to change because if it got to a certain point i’d get a central line. Just made me think of that when she mentioned the ventilator. When your mind is alert and your body is failing it’s just absolute sheer helpless terror and confusion.
So lucky you knew which hospital to go to! We have only one choice in my county. I was admitted and on IV antibiotics for days. After I was released I was told ‘Come back if you start getting sick again. I did go back to the ER twice. The first time they checked me out they decided I was OK. The second time I went back to the ER, the nurse was rude and acted like I shouldn’t be bothering them again. It’s a crap shoot-God help you of the hospital you go to doesn’t recognize sepsis when they see it.

I’m fortunate to have had a parent present who was a very strong intense advocate for me and if I did not it could have been very different. You know your body - demand a rapid sepsis test and always mention you’ve had sepsis previously - tell everyone who works on you or who you see - once that’s on the record for their own insurance sake they won’t want to play around.
I realize how sick I was now. I’ve been fighting triple negative breast cancer the past 7 months and chemo killed my white blood cells and caused sepsis. I knew I was sick when they admitted me but I had no idea how close to dying I was. My prayers for those who families didn’t survive!

I had surgery on my knee in June a week later I developed a staph in infection which caused sepsis and also had an abscess in my knee. I had chills fast heart rate low blood pressure and almost died. Went home with a picc line and was given vancomycin 2 times a day which I ended up back in the hospital a month later with hives and extremely high creatinine levels, which almost shut my kidneys down. Thank God I'm still here I'm still have trouble remembering things and I'm weak all the time.
I'm a survivor of septic shock as well. I was put on life support for 2 months, not expected to live but beat the odds. After 3 years am left with chronic pain in most my joints, my cervical spine is the the worst along with my knees. Fatigue is huge problem. I'm grateful for each new day I'm gifted and the loving support of my family and friends. I'm one of the lucky ones.
Kim Perow we are going thru a tragedy right now, our brother had gastric bypass and ended up with a bowel leakeage which infected his blood for at least a day or 2. were on day 5 in the icu, and his kidneys are unresponsive, and he wouldnt wake after being off the sleep meds, his blood pressure was up and better, breathing was getting better, but said the toxins are still in the kidneys, which is causing problems, so now he has to go on 24hr dialysis. can u give us any info on what to expect? and for me personally, whats his chances at this point to make it out? were all freaking out. cuz i never liked the idea of them cutting his stomach open. fuck.
Survival of sepsis from a hemorrhoid banding in 2020. Surgeons instrument punctured my colon. Still suffering from sequelae of the sepsis full on through these two years. Lost my gallbladder , developed ulcerative colitis, duodenitis , gastritis… and am now facing colostomy with stoma in less than ten days. Sepsis is the most frightening ~ ever.

A couple of years ago, I wound up going into septic shock as a result of colon failure and actually it was the doctor at the urgent care clinic(this was during the pandemic so it was better to avoid going to the ER if you could)who relized something was seriously wrong when he couldn’t get a blood pressure reading.Later on, the doctor at the hospital told my parents that I came within two hours of not making it.
I’m a 2 x sepsis survivor- other than being burned at two- I consider it a miracle I am still alive… with dysautonomia flaring really badly after my last one on May 5, 2021. I only found out after I got my medical records. Diagnosed bowel obstruction due to fall and scar tissue. I don’t run a temperature no matter how sick I get. Kind of shocked right now- had no idea it would hurt me long run, which explains what’s going on with me now.
What is the outcome of the Euphrades sp?) trial mentioned in the video. Sepsis, septic shock are not uncommon, they seem to happen in hospitals and nursing homes, we need a solution ASAP to save lives. Hospitals have lots of bugs.

I have experienced sepsis twice. Once when I was 20 and once when 49. I was either sweating out of every pour in my body or shaking so hard my teeth were chattering. Mine was a rare fungal blood infection. You can feel your strength leaving you and you feel like you're dying.
I had sepsis about 6times over a 4 month period. 2 of those time I woke up in ICU out of my mind. It was extremely scary for me as I didn't know where I was, who my husband was, I tried jumping out of the vehicle going down the road. It started with a UTI and kidney nephritis every time for me. I had no idea that sepsis can make you go crazy till it happened to me. All my husband could do was sit back and watch, crying his eyeballs out. It happened so fast too. Within 4hours I went from normal to dementia. Thankfully he had seen it happen with me before on a lower level and recognised it. He got me to the hospital as quickly as he could. I don't remember any of it. Only what I was told and maybe bits and pieces until the antibiotics started working but waking up and not being able to talk right or know where you are, that's scary. I'm actually watching this now because I'm worried it's happening again. I know I have a stone, trying to ride it out. Not wanting to wake my husband, fever for two days. I'm getting worried.
I also survived thanks to the quick thinking of my husband, the local emergency room and ICU Doctors! I had septic shock that had already progressed to multiple organ failure. (My kidneys and liver mostly) I was diagnosed instantly in the E.R.. All of it stemmed from a seemingly-simple bladder infection. Ultimatly turned out to be E.Coli.. I was hours away from dying when my husband brought me to the emergency room! My dad had died from sepsis only weeks earlier in the same ICU room that I was in. After only a few weeks I was released from the hospital on July 24th 2018!

I lost my life partner to sepsis...she did not receive quick and urgent care at the hospital and was left overnight with no fluids or antibiotics. The next morning she coded and was dead in 24 hours. Sepsis is a killer if not caught early.

Lost my daddy due to a low BP as a result of the septic shock he was in for 3 days. He was in the ICU for a little more than 2 months and was admitted for sub dural hemorrhage. Though, he was discharged after 15 days of admission as he showed signs of normalcy, but his condition quickly deteriorated after 2 days at home and we had to admit him again. He stopped eating and talking after that and was later kept on ventilator due to his inability to breathe. The last few days before he left us he was not passing any urine and dialysis was difficult to carry out as he had a very low BP. Could your hospital service make any difference had he been admitted there?
I to survived sepsis.by the grace of God. It started as a UTI, in hospital 2 weeks, they said I was good to go. But I was not. By December 1 I was back in hospital. In that time I had the worse pain I ever felt. It was like electric jults. Hard to even sit up. I began to loose control of my bladder an bowells I thought I was looking my mind. I found out that infection was thru my whole spine. They tryed to aspirate it thru my spine but couldn't cause it was on the inner parts of the spine. I had a pic line in with 4 different antibiotics thru out the day. I was sent to a nursing home for iv therapy an physical therapy it to 5 months. I was told I was wheel chair level with some walking. I can't stand straight it hurts to walk any length. My family thinks I will be back to or as close to the way I was before, I have a couple friends that try to get me to do more. But they jus don't understand what I am feeling each day. I push myself to do everyday things its hard to get any meds for pain due to these new laws on pain meds. But I'm alive today.
I too am a two time survivor due to UTI. This happened in summer and fall of 2020. I remember the first time waking up and wanting to go home that day not realizing how ill I was. I now walk with a walker and I pace myself. I’ve been hospitalized a few more times. My husband knows the signs and will immediately take me to the ER. When he’s at work he will constantly text me and if I don’t respond he will call me on the phone. I hate for him to worry and I feel that it has aged us both. I’m blessed that I am alive and I try to remain positive.
I’ve had sepsis 11 times these past 4 years. Had bacterial meningitis, endocarditis, sepsis and was pregnant. Didn’t go into shock there thank god. However, 2 weeks after I gave birth again I had sepsis again. I knew it immediately. The strong shaking, the fever of 104, flu symptoms minus the flu. Go to the floor and went into shock was sent to ICU A the rushed to MICU B. Survived that mess and now again I’m feeling the numbing in my limbs, worse headaches, lights are killing me, can’t look down and my ear is purple and infected. I feel it’s happening again and I feel like quitting. I’m immunocompromised I just want this to stop. Wish I could go to your hospital. Mines....is terrible.

@RustyShakleford1 Hey yes I'm alive thank God. Even though I lay on my bed currently with a high fever and what feels like super covid 2.500. All my lymphnodes are soo swollen and my spine hurts soo bad. Worst headache ever. I just recently was in hospital almost a month due to a severe bowel obstruction. Had the surgery to dilate the stricture and do a resection. Then a week later after finally going home had to go back to ER after vomiting soo much and it turned out I had another bowel obstruction. Had an NG tube placed and it was a nightmare in hell. Got better. Managed to do halloween with my kids...only to feel like I'm dying. All my bones hurt soo bad, terrible spine, neck pain, head pain, can't breathe, soo much phlegm, fevers, chills....when will we ever be to the point of just staying in remission and actually being healthy for once. Tired of this immunocompromised BS. How are you doing? Oh God TB? I had TB due to taking Entyvio. Caused a reactivation and had to be on Rifampin. Such a nightmare. Did anyone have absolutely zero protein and very low vitamin D levels? I have had sepsis 5 times and severe sepsis 7 times with sceptic shock and multiple organ failure. I already have low blood pressure and multiple major health issues so the pain didn’t trigger any alarms. I was delirious and sat with a stomach which looked like I was 9mth pregnant with twins due to my kidneys having failed, they left me slipping in and out of consciousness without checking on me for about an hour. I now consistently get symptoms of sepsis and it’s like my body temperature cannot regulate itself. There are so many issues which I had and so many I still have 7years on. I’ve tried to get help/support but got none. It’s like someone reached inside my head and removed a part of my brain and I know that it’s something I will just have to live with. The consultants and nursing staff treated me absolutely disgustingly - I was shocked at the way they behaved and as I live in a very small city some ppl have seen me since and they actually worked on the wards right next to the ICU where I was, and they have told me so much of what was going on. They knew I had little chance of survival but when my family called they wouldn’t allow them to speak to me (closest family lived 400mls away and my Dad lived over seas). I was devastated that my family didn’t realise how ill I was so they didn’t visit me - but because the consultant won’t admit on paper how serious the condition was it’s so difficult to get the help and support I need. It’s so messed up and I have other serious health problems as a result. I often wonder if it was worth surviving - but obviously god has a plan for me and I’m definitely not the religious type.🥺

From watching this story helped me to reflect and confirmed what I witnessed happened to Mom. I am thankful to Jesus Christ also intervention for her miraculous RECOVERY❗It also allowed me to released emotional pain and memories that had been deeply repressed. This is my father rignt now with severe sepsis... His vitals are good.. Heart rafe is 120 and blood pressjre 118/62.. He is breathing kinda fast but they havent put him in icu yet. Besides him being out of it and "unresponsive" hes holding his own breathing. The doctors are concerned about him not making it but they havent decided to put him in icu yet...ugh.

While at the beach I stepped on a dead catfish barb. My husband extracted it and we called 911, as a precaution and do my age, 60+. Some officers showed up and said the island had no 911 services and to see my doctor once I got home. I called my doctors cell phone. He said no problem but then called me right back and said to watch it closely. Once home I was in bed for two days with high fever and chills. I told my husband to call the doctor and tell him we would see him at the office or emergency room…as I was dying. We met him at his office. He put me on mega antibiotics and said I was with 24 hours of going to the hospital with a 50/50% chance of coming out alive😱. Very, very scary.
Something I don't understand- If her condition was so bad they presented the husband with the option of this trial treatment, why was the treatment not offered as is, why did it have to be a situation where she may have gotten the placebo?
I am a 5 time sepsis survivor!! I just got home 2 weeks ago after 19 months in 2 hospitals and then a rehabilitation facility. I also had necrotizing fasciitis. On life support and in ICU for 42 days at the beginning. Doctors have used the word “miracle” to describe me. I now have irreversible kidney failure. Dialysis 3X a week 1 hr away from home. I too am a two time sepsis & septic shock survivor due to UTI Infections. The first time I was hospitalized my symptoms were a pressure headache, dizziness, nausea and extreme fatigue. The next day I was unconscious and couldn’t wake up. My husband called 911. I was hospitalized for a week with uremia with sepsis. The second time was two months later and again couldn’t wake up. I was hospitalized in the ICU with septic shock. These last two years have taken a toll in my health. It’s been a roller coaster with more hospitalizations. Prior to all of this, I had a traumatic injury where I was hospitalized for a month. I had a long and slow recovery. I’m a fighter and a survivor 🙏🙏🙏

3 rounds of sepsis in 10 months. The last one severe. Took away rheumatoid arthritis from it, surgical incision won’t fully close for over a year, lost almost all of my hair.
And I am still alive though. I remember the moment I couldn’t lift my arms anymore, not the slightest bit. It’s hard to explain but you will know what I mean, you feel yourself passing on. I don’t remember hardly anything coherent from months of ICU, step down unit, regular floor.
I just recently developed enough strength to step up the sidewalk without an aid. And I am still alive. It’s a miracle and the biggest blessing. I am a single mother and I am always grateful for still being alive.
It feels good to write this out in words, knowing that you guys can relate and I can relate to you. ❤️

My mom just passed in October from a septic shock...we suspect negligence since NO ONE told us of a sepsis diagnosis nor was she treated from it until the rehab center--she was at after her first hospital discharge for a bowel injury--ordered an EMT transport to another facility where they actually had to repair the reopening of the initial wound (botched job by first surgeon) and diagnosed her as Septic...however it was too late for a successful treatment. She passed 3 days after her second surgery from Low BP. The most devastating day of my life!! I lost my mom/best friend due to incompetence on the first hospital and rehab's behalf. My mom could have been saved if she were never ordered to go to rehab while discharged with sepsis. She just turned 50 this year and had so much more life in her. My siblings now have to grow up without our mom and it is extremely heartbreaking to witness as the eldest sibling. My mom passed 30 mins to an hour after I got an emergency call to be with her in the ICU...I believe she held on until I got there to pass. I truly hope there is a heaven because life is too unfair for the just abd innocent. I need to be with my mom again....this hurts too much.

Also my mom passed in this October from sepsis and she is just 50 years old...she was doing his daily work and then feel cold because of instant low blood pressure. We admit her in hospital with in just 15 min. But doctor enable to detect the cause (sepsis) and they wasted her 3 critical hour then we admit her in another hospital but it's too late 😭......but i m preety sure in heaven i will be her little boy again 🤱❤️😭

I'm in the middle of surviving it now. The fever and chills are unbearable to me. A. Fever of 105.2 degrees after ibuprophen and fluids IV. Mine started with a tooth abscess, I wouldn't wish this on anybody.
Same here.. I’m on a very strong antibiotic through picc line for 12 weeks now. The infection affected my bones. Very painful but I’m hanging in there and will continue to fight

I can relate to this video and so glad to still be alive was given the same treatment after admission into hospital by ambulance. I also needed 2 cycles of CPR with adrenaline and it eas only after waking up in Intensive care and complaining of stomach and back pain they found stones in my gallbladder and installed a drain. Very grateful towards the Doctor's and Nurses for all the help and support 🙏

Did you have any pain in your upper right quadrant of your midsection? Did you have any other symptoms you remember? Do you know how long you may have been this way before you finally ended up in the ICU?
I ask because I've been to doctors who find nothing wrong. My skin color is off. My palms are red and blotchy.
All of my skin is blotchy really.
My heart races uncontrollably sometimes and it's not my heart causing it.
I feel cold and chill when everyone else is warm.
I'm outwardly in fantastic shape because I cycle 60 miles daily and have for the past 20 years. I'm 54 and I know my body and something is wrong.
Doctors are unconcerned because of how I look.
I think I have sepsis and something wrong with my gallbladder. I'm thinking about taking NAC+Tudca to see if it helps clear my bile ducts and fixes itself because every doctor I've seen is incompetent.

Have the doctors do cbc ( complete blood cell count ) and check for elevated white blood cells.
@@johnb1344 I'm pretty sure CBC is one of the standard tests done when you see the doctor. I'm sure it's been done at least once. Perhaps they got test results mixed up or something because mine should have shown something.
It's been 4 years I've been dealing with this. It all started with a tooth that I couldn't get fixed during the pandemic lockdowns. It just rotted out and it's long gone so I never bothered going to the dentist.
This is such a moving story! when she talks about losing her baby...just😢! We're seeing more of this in hospitals; especially, multiple drug resistant organisms (MDRO)! This video does a great job of advocating for clinical trials.

I recently had a similar experience except in my case,it was because of a toxic mega colon and I wound up having to be rushed into emergency surgery and the head of the surgery team later told my parents that I came within 2 hours of dying. I don’t actually remember much of anything about that experience,my parents told me about it after the fact. Anyway,as a result of the septsis poisoning I lost the ability to walk and I couldn’t move my arms and I had to spend 3 1/2 months in a rehab center and I finally got to go home a couple of weeks ago,it’s like Dorothy from the wizard of oz said,there’s no place like home.and she definitely right about that!🙂

My husband had Strep pneumonia in 2021 which went septic. We thought it was COVID for a day, but when he had trouble breathing we went to the E. R. It was two days before Thanksgiving.He was in the ICU on a Bipap machine a few hours later. Heart rate was very high,fluids were accumulating in his body. On Thanksgiving night he went into acute congestive heart failure. He came within minutes of dying, due to fluid compressing his heart. His knee swelled up( he'd had a total knee replacement a couple years ago) with infection and fluid. It was only the skill and attention of the doctors and nurses in the ICU that saved him.
Six days later he was moved to a regular room. The next day X-rays showed what looked like infection in his chest and his white blood count shot up. A thoracic surgeon did an emergency VAT procedure. Three tubes were inserted into his chest and used to flush out infection. The doctor scraped infection from his ribs and the edges of his lungs. It was one of the worst cases she'd seen. She stayed with him until 10 pm, to be sure he didn't need a blood transfusion or to go back to the ICU. Her diligence and care for him saved his life again, although she gave no promises of a good recovery.
Since the rehab units were filled with COVID patients he came home on Dec.20 on two IV meds, which I had to administer. Five days later he had surgery to remove infection from his knee. His gall bladder was threatened throughout his illness but it healed. He remained on IV meds until March.
My husband lost 37 pounds in one month and his recovery was hard, but somehow he survived and recovered completely over time. The next year he survived prostate cancer- 44 radiation treatments. He also had bladder and kidney stones and a trip to the E.R. with a blood clot in his catheter which almost burst his bladder. This winter he had a cold and COVID but is well now.
I know my husband's recovery from sepsis is a miracle. No major complications so far. In spite of his other health issues we feel incredibly lucky he is still alive.

There is one very intelligent very nice very good person. Thank God she recovered. We need more people like her on this planet and especially in this country.

I had Sepsis 2 years ago. I had been really ill with a bladder infection and the dr put me on Nitrofuriton. I continued to be ill until I was semi conscious. The ambulance took me to the hospital. After 2 weeks and many tests I was on lemonade only as well as drips. A doctor woke me in the middle of the night and said if your blood pressure drops one more point do you want to be resuscitated. She then said if you recover you will be in a wheelchair and on dialysis the rest of your life. Well I am elderly so said no, and went back to sleep. I recovered but can’t walk and my fingers are weak. It is a terrible thing. I noted the antibiotics for you as was told that was toxic for a lot of older people and that triggered my numb feet.
This doctor is so on top of his game. The moment i saw an exotic country in this story, i suspected sepsis but that trial part was something i wasn’t expecting. Well done Cooper hospital!

I had sepsis twice. Went into septic shock the first time and I don’t remember much. The second time I was completely with it and I remember trying to will my blood pressure to change because if it got to a certain point i’d get a central line. Just made me think of that when she mentioned the ventilator. When your mind is alert and your body is failing it’s just absolute sheer helpless terror and confusion.

So lucky you knew which hospital to go to! We have only one choice in my county. I was admitted and on IV antibiotics for days. After I was released I was told ‘Come back if you start getting sick again.
I did go back to the ER twice. The first time they checked me out they decided I was OK. The second time I went back to the ER, the nurse was rude and acted like I shouldn’t be bothering them again. It’s a crap shoot-God help you of the hospital you go to doesn’t recognize sepsis when they see it.

I’m fortunate to have had a parent present who was a very strong intense advocate for me and if I did not it could have been very different. You know your body - demand a rapid sepsis test and always mention you’ve had sepsis previously - tell everyone who works on you or who you see - once that’s on the record for their own insurance sake they won’t want to play around.

I had surgery on my knee in June a week later I developed a staph in infection which caused sepsis and also had an abscess in my knee. I had chills fast heart rate low blood pressure and almost died. Went home with a picc line and was given vancomycin 2 times a day which I ended up back in the hospital a month later with hives and extremely high creatinine levels, which almost shut my kidneys down. Thank God I'm still here I'm still have trouble remembering things and I'm weak all the time.
I'm a survivor of septic shock as well. I was put on life support for 2 months, not expected to live but beat the odds. After 3 years am left with chronic pain in most my joints, my cervical spine is the the worst along with my knees. Fatigue is huge problem. I'm grateful for each new day I'm gifted and the loving support of my family and friends. I'm one of the lucky ones.

Kim Perow we are going thru a tragedy right now, our brother had gastric bypass and ended up with a bowel leakeage which infected his blood for at least a day or 2. were on day 5 in the icu, and his kidneys are unresponsive, and he wouldnt wake after being off the sleep meds, his blood pressure was up and better, breathing was getting better, but said the toxins are still in the kidneys, which is causing problems, so now he has to go on 24hr dialysis. can u give us any info on what to expect? and for me personally, whats his chances at this point to make it out? were all freaking out. cuz i never liked the idea of them cutting his stomach open. fuck.

Survival of sepsis from a hemorrhoid banding in 2020. Surgeons instrument punctured my colon. Still suffering from sequelae of the sepsis full on through these two years. Lost my gallbladder , developed ulcerative colitis, duodenitis , gastritis… and am now facing colostomy with stoma in less than ten days. Sepsis is the most frightening ~ ever.

A couple of years ago, I wound up going into septic shock as a result of colon failure and actually it was the doctor at the urgent care clinic(this was during the pandemic so it was better to avoid going to the ER if you could)who relized something was seriously wrong when he couldn’t get a blood pressure reading.Later on, the doctor at the hospital told my parents that I came within two hours of not making it.
I’m a 2 x sepsis survivor- other than being burned at two- I consider it a miracle I am still alive… with dysautonomia flaring really badly after my last one on May 5, 2021. I only found out after I got my medical records. Diagnosed bowel obstruction due to fall and scar tissue.
I don’t run a temperature no matter how sick I get. Kind of shocked right now- had no idea it would hurt me long run, which explains what’s going on with me now.

I have experienced sepsis twice. Once when I was 20 and once when 49. I was either sweating out of every pour in my body or shaking so hard my teeth were chattering. Mine was a rare fungal blood infection. You can feel your strength leaving you and you feel like you're dying.
I had sepsis about 6times over a 4 month period. 2 of those time I woke up in ICU out of my mind. It was extremely scary for me as I didn't know where I was, who my husband was, I tried jumping out of the vehicle going down the road. It started with a UTI and kidney nephritis every time for me. I had no idea that sepsis can make you go crazy till it happened to me. All my husband could do was sit back and watch, crying his eyeballs out. It happened so fast too. Within 4hours I went from normal to dementia. Thankfully he had seen it happen with me before on a lower level and recognised it. He got me to the hospital as quickly as he could. I don't remember any of it. Only what I was told and maybe bits and pieces until the antibiotics started working but waking up and not being able to talk right or know where you are, that's scary. I'm actually watching this now because I'm worried it's happening again. I know I have a stone, trying to ride it out. Not wanting to wake my husband, fever for two days. I'm getting worried.

It was from a strep A infection.
I was critically ill when I went to the ER and was in hospital for 5 weeks.

I also survived thanks to the quick thinking of my husband, the local emergency room and ICU Doctors! I had septic shock that had already progressed to multiple organ failure. (My kidneys and liver mostly) I was diagnosed instantly in the E.R..
All of it stemmed from a seemingly-simple bladder infection. Ultimatly turned out to be E.Coli..
I was hours away from dying when my husband brought me to the emergency room!
My dad had died from sepsis only weeks earlier in the same ICU room that I was in.
After only a few weeks I was released from the hospital on July 24th 2018!

I lost my life partner to sepsis...she did not receive quick and urgent care at the hospital and was left overnight with no fluids or antibiotics. The next morning she coded and was dead in 24 hours. Sepsis is a killer if not caught early.

Lost my daddy due to a low BP as a result of the septic shock he was in for 3 days. He was in the ICU for a little more than 2 months and was admitted for sub dural hemorrhage. Though, he was discharged after 15 days of admission as he showed signs of normalcy, but his condition quickly deteriorated after 2 days at home and we had to admit him again. He stopped eating and talking after that and was later kept on ventilator due to his inability to breathe. The last few days before he left us he was not passing any urine and dialysis was difficult to carry out as he had a very low BP.

I to survived sepsis.by the grace of God. It started as a UTI, in hospital 2 weeks, they said I was good to go. But I was not. By December 1 I was back in hospital. In that time I had the worse pain I ever felt. It was like electric jults. Hard to even sit up. I began to loose control of my bladder an bowells I thought I was looking my mind. I found out that infection was thru my whole spine. They tryed to aspirate it thru my spine but couldn't cause it was on the inner parts of the spine. I had a pic line in with 4 different antibiotics thru out the day. I was sent to a nursing home for iv therapy an physical therapy it to 5 months. I was told I was wheel chair level with some walking. I can't stand straight it hurts to walk any length. My family thinks I will be back to or as close to the way I was before, I have a couple friends that try to get me to do more. But they jus don't understand what I am feeling each day. I push myself to do everyday things its hard to get any meds for pain due to these new laws on pain meds. But I'm alive today.

I too am a two time survivor due to UTI. This happened in summer and fall of 2020. I remember the first time waking up and wanting to go home that day not realizing how ill I was. I now walk with a walker and I pace myself. I’ve been hospitalized a few more times. My husband knows the signs and will immediately take me to the ER. When he’s at work he will constantly text me and if I don’t respond he will call me on the phone. I hate for him to worry and I feel that it has aged us both. I’m blessed that I am alive and I try to remain positive.

I’ve had sepsis 11 times these past 4 years. Had bacterial meningitis, endocarditis, sepsis and was pregnant. Didn’t go into shock there thank god. However, 2 weeks after I gave birth again I had sepsis again. I knew it immediately. The strong shaking, the fever of 104, flu symptoms minus the flu. Go to the floor and went into shock was sent to ICU A the rushed to MICU B. Survived that mess and now again I’m feeling the numbing in my limbs, worse headaches, lights are killing me, can’t look down and my ear is purple and infected. I feel it’s happening again and I feel like quitting. I’m immunocompromised I just want this to stop. Wish I could go to your hospital. Mines....is terrible.

@RustyShakleford1 Hey yes I'm alive thank God. Even though I lay on my bed currently with a high fever and what feels like super covid 2.500. All my lymphnodes are soo swollen and my spine hurts soo bad. Worst headache ever. I just recently was in hospital almost a month due to a severe bowel obstruction. Had the surgery to dilate the stricture and do a resection. Then a week later after finally going home had to go back to ER after vomiting soo much and it turned out I had another bowel obstruction. Had an NG tube placed and it was a nightmare in hell. Got better. Managed to do halloween with my kids...only to feel like I'm dying. All my bones hurt soo bad, terrible spine, neck pain, head pain, can't breathe, soo much phlegm, fevers, chills....when will we ever be to the point of just staying in remission and actually being healthy for once. Tired of this immunocompromised BS. How are you doing? Oh God TB? I had TB due to taking Entyvio. Caused a reactivation and had to be on Rifampin. Such a nightmare. I hope you're better and hoping you're OK. Praying for you.

ineffective of course. the f***rs at the industry set up the study for a failure. Dr. Marik observed that vitamin C protocol has to done in 6 hours. The morons who designed the study recommended to do Vitamin C treatment after 12 hours. and of course they use small amount. less than 10 gram i think. its laughable.
Did anyone have absolutely zero protein and very low vitamin D levels? I have had sepsis 5 times and severe sepsis 7 times with sceptic shock and multiple organ failure. I already have low blood pressure and multiple major health issues so the pain didn’t trigger any alarms. I was delirious and sat with a stomach which looked like I was 9mth pregnant with twins due to my kidneys having failed, they left me slipping in and out of consciousness without checking on me for about an hour.
I now consistently get symptoms of sepsis and it’s like my body temperature cannot regulate itself. There are so many issues which I had and so many I still have 7years on. I’ve tried to get help/support but got none.
It’s like someone reached inside my head and removed a part of my brain and I know that it’s something I will just have to live with.
The consultants and nursing staff treated me absolutely disgustingly - I was shocked at the way they behaved and as I live in a very small city some ppl have seen me since and they actually worked on the wards right next to the ICU where I was, and they have told me so much of what was going on.
They knew I had little chance of survival but when my family called they wouldn’t allow them to speak to me (closest family lived 400mls away and my Dad lived over seas). I was devastated that my family didn’t realise how ill I was so they didn’t visit me - but because the consultant won’t admit on paper how serious the condition was it’s so difficult to get the help and support I need. It’s so messed up and I have other serious health problems as a result. I often wonder if it was worth surviving - but obviously god has a plan for me and I’m definitely not the religious type.🥺

This is my father rignt now with severe sepsis... His vitals are good.. Heart rafe is 120 and blood pressjre 118/62.. He is breathing kinda fast but they havent put him in icu yet. Besides him being out of it and "unresponsive" hes holding his own breathing. The doctors are concerned about him not making it but they havent decided to put him in icu yet...ugh.

While at the beach I stepped on a dead catfish barb. My husband extracted it and we called 911, as a precaution and do my age, 60+. Some officers showed up and said the island had no 911 services and to see my doctor once I got home. I called my doctors cell phone. He said no problem but then called me right back and said to watch it closely. Once home I was in bed for two days with high fever and chills. I told my husband to call the doctor and tell him we would see him at the office or emergency room…as I was dying. We met him at his office. He put me on mega antibiotics and said I was with 24 hours of going to the hospital with a 50/50% chance of coming out alive😱. Very, very scary.
Something I don't understand- If her condition was so bad they presented the husband with the option of this trial treatment, why was the treatment not offered as is, why did it have to be a situation where she may have gotten the placebo?
