Iconic Beaux Arts Penthouse Masterpiece Overlooking Central Park & The Met
Picture a chateau nestled in the verdant hills of the French countryside but with a surprising view of the Louvre off your terrace and salon. This one-of-a-kind Emery Roth-designed full floor penthouse duplex co-op is a dream come true for those who value sophistication and culture.
Spread across 4 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms totaling more than 5,000 sq. ft. of regal interior space plus several park-facing sun terraces, this august residence offers true indoor-outdoor city living. Elegant original details like marble wood-burning fireplaces, herringbone hardwood floors, and intricate crown moldings complement modern upgrades like new oversized casement windows and a high-end central A/C system.
On the entry level of the home, a private elevator landing opens into a grand marble foyer and gallery with dramatic double height ceilings, a wrought-iron staircase, and a walk-in coat closet. French doors lead out onto a 53-ft wide terrace with breathtaking Central Park and Billionaire’s Row views. Baronial formal salon and dining rooms sit on either side of the gallery.
The grand salon runs 39-ft deep and has a handsome marble fireplace. It flows into a stately library with another fireplace, custom built-ins, an attached bar, and a windowed powder room. From the dining room, the home flows through a huge butler’s pantry and into a large chef’s kitchen with an adjoining breakfast room, glazed terracotta tile floors, and high-end stainless steel appliances from Viking and Sub-Zero. Finishing this level are a laundry room with a side-by-side washer/dryer as well as a guest bedroom and staff quarters with easy access to a windowed full bathroom.
The windowed staircase leads up to a private second level with three main bedrooms, each of which has access to an incredible wraparound terrace. The front primary suite boasts ample closet and storage space as well as a windowed en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower and deep soaking tub. The rear primary bedroom as well as the additional secondary bedroom each have private closets and their own windowed en-suites.
993 Fifth Avenue is an architecturally significant Emery Roth co-op with a lovely limestone façade and an unbeatable Upper East Side address. Nestled across the street from Central Park and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the building has full-time staff, security, private storage, and a fitness center. It is moments from high-end dining and shopping options and is also close to Neue Galerie and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. Pied-a-terre are welcome. A ground floor in-law/office/staff unit may also be purchased separately.

The apartment has the feel and look of a real home, as opposed to a designer's idea of a home. Nice.
💯% Agreed
I hope it’s not over designed when the new owners renovate 😢
I'm a 39-year-old guy from Florida, I like open floor plans and modern touches. However, I wouldn't change a door knob in that place. It's Stunning
It think everyone in comment section would agree. Nor would I change one thing on this place. Magnificent!
$300,000.00 annual HOA fees. Better have a lot of money coming in.
Am57 lol
@@jorgemontefusco650 And it's a cooperative, so you have to "pass the board" with adequate financial resources and sometimes social connections. The $25K/mo will only go up over time. Pre-war buildings are great but, like every other building, they need infrastucture work that is expensive. I didn't see a "flip tax" but those are common.
I'm 46 years old and I approve this message.
I swear, if the new owner comes in and turns it into an HGTV house I will cry.
What a beautiful home.
Same here. Leave it just like it is.
Seriously.... tear out all the charm and paint everything grey.. ugh!
"Open concept" a/k/a small home trying to look bigger
I wouldn't change a single thing. This was the best 12 minutes I've spent in a long time.
Same
Agreed. I cringed at the suggestion that the den/library shelves be removed to "open it up" and at "I would leave a lot of this millwork here" in the bedroom, as if suggesting it be removed while pointing out how expensive it would be to replace in the same breath. And it's really NOT hard to see the detail of that Sherle Wagner sink and fixtures on camera if you would simply point the camera at them for a close-up! Also (this is a sticking point with me regarding ALL realtors' photos and videos), please do a walk-through and straighten lampshades, etc. before filming. Kudos for the drone shots that showed the incredible length of that "wraparound" terrace! Even though it was extremely narrow, it would make a wonderful walking course for talking in the fabulous views in every direction while not actually having to get dressed to leave the house! I'm also imagining what else could be seen from there, like the magnificent 4th of July fireworks!
What a sad life you must lead 😢
1. drone shots
2. musical score
3. synchronized editing
I was beyond impressed
go SERHANT. go

Thank you for watching!
He is right, they just don’t make homes as they used to. I like this style, it doesn’t get old and feels homey and lux at the same time. Lovely
Old school, pre-war 5th Avenue splendor on the park. I hope the new owners preserve some of the wonderful details in this home. I would take this apartment over Billionaire's Row in a heartbeat. Do you want a vintage Hermes Birkin bag or a Gucci knapsack?
I completely agree! Post war architecture just isn't the same...
@@jimbo1637 So do I! And I am a New Yorker who grew up in NYC during the Mad Men era. The box look of skyscrapers after World War 2 that started with the U.N. office building in 1950 and continued through the 1960s til 1990s just does not have the class that the old buildings had when my late grandmother was born in March 1900.
Which neighborhood is Billionaires’ Row?
@@zeldafitzgerald437 57th Street just south of Central Park
The new owners shouldn't be allowed to change a thing (except maybe the overlarge vent over the cooker). It's spectacular. Perfect as it is.
It's perfect as it is. The historic look of it is unmatched today.
Beautiful penthouse. I personally would keep it as is.
I know it is so beautiful. I might change some of the furniture.
Me too
Who would 'gut' this place?! It's absolutely gorgeous AS IS. So much more character than all the new ones!
How is this not protected!? I can see someone wanting to update the kitchen or decor, but surely they wouldn’t get permission to do significant internal renovations ?
Am I dreaming? Am I in heaven? Wtf! So marvelous gorgeous! 🥰😍
I wouldn't change a thing. It's stunning and I love the history. The view, and the Met. I ❤️💯.
Who is the editor, because they SNAPPED with this one. YES! Great job!!!
It’s a gorgeous property. So elegant, with character, not the typical “white walls/white oak” bland aesthetic that I see in a lot of new builds. This space screams NEW YORK OLD MONEY and I love it. Can’t beat that location, either.
This is legit like stepping into history, into the home of an elegant 1930s venture capitalist. Not all of it is my style, but its so objectively incredible if I bought it (lol) I would feel so guilty changing ANYTHING.
Looks like you just stepped into the twentieth century with this penthouse absolutely beautiful ❤️
20th century is just 23 years ago. I’m living in a 20th century home. It’s not special.
@@phoenix5054 Phoenix don’t underestimate your home have more of a positive feeling because think about it like this some people have no home lost everything with all this rent increases inflation it’s a mess be blessed a home is what you make it so it can be special stay safe phoenix 😄
This apartment building is almost 100 years old. The renovations don't look that old, but maybe because of excellent maintenance. Don't be fooled by the design. NYC decorators design apartments like this one today. Traditional style. You can buy new Sherle Wagner fixtures and sinks.
Quite simply my favourite home you have ever toured and I've being here from the start. Incredible!!
If I lived here the Met would be my second living room. I would go there very freaking day.
That's why I thought... but then I realized I don't even go to the museums two or three blocks away from my house :/
@@aricarly Well maybe because they're not the Met :-)
I would, as well! I'd would either be walking in Central Park or touring, "The Met!" It doesn't take much to make me happy! That would be happiness to me! 😊
Of all your home tours you have shown, this one felt more of a home than any other. I wouldn't change anything besides the electric.
I'd buy it in a heartbeat. These types of listings are rare.
MY FAVORITE HOUSE TOUR you ever shown Ryan 🎉
This penthouse is a jewel. I hope whoever buys it, perseveres the home and doesn’t gut it for something ultra modern. There’s plenty of that in the city if that’s what they want. When Ryan mentioned someone gutting it, it felt like a stab in the gut. The doors, fireplaces, moldings - so breathtaking. If only I had the bank account to buy this - someday!
If you live in NY long enough you’ll have those friends who every now and then post pics from what I call those gargoyle views. Way chicer and sophisticated flex than any of those glass boxes in the sky.
Absolutely adore this!
I love your fantastic description of "gargoyle views" and I agree. I love looking at architecture and all of the available homes in New York, but living on the 70th floor of a glass tower feels like you are on a shelf.
Agreed!
One wants to be high enough to enjoy great views of the park or other surroundings but still feel part of the city: having views of the top floors of other (older, grander) buildings and have some buildings a bit taller than you. The higher up one goes the one could be anywhere: just empty sky all around.
The penthouse is glorious with true traditional posh design. The stately features are one of a kind and should be treasured. The woodwork is imperial. The craftsmanship is dazzling...Favorite spaces, the living room with fireplace. The primary bedroom with fireplace is lavish and cozy. The views are breathtaking and priceless. Thanks Ryan and your S. team for a tour of opulent regal a jewel of the ages....!!!
Best presentation of a property I have seen....
This place is the epitome of New York 😍
This is absolutely the most incredible home I've seen you or any other CZcamsr show. The location is unparalleled. I was sold when I saw the view over the Met.
And while the interior design might strike some as "dated" it is the absolute pinnacle of that style. Every object in that home could be sold at Christie's or Sotheby's tomorrow.
We agree!
Sherle Wagner fixtures were used throughout. They use real gold -- you can see it in the lustre. They are very expensive and the company is still around.
The beauty of the penthouse is fully expressed by your unbridled enthusiasm for it. What a joy to witness both!
This place was amazing! I never been a big fan of that style of interior but something about this place just works. Also being ACROSS the street from the MET....come on man! Lol! Thank you sir!
str@ight Across Indeed...Come on Man or folks will think your a CON.......
Simply AMAZING penthouse! Yes, Ryan. And I..simply...adore your enthusiasm over such finds. ♥
I wouldn’t change a thing♥️ Fabulous, Splendid, Divine,and Debonaire 🎊
Me neither it’s so stunning and perfect 🤩
Wow!!! The story telling and how the video was made was superb!! Absolutely love the place!!!! It is a NY dream to have an apartment like that!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Absolutely gorgeous. It reminds me of my grandma's place. She'd love this. She was an artist, and living across from the Met would be so much fun for her. And me. Lol.
This Penthouse, is simply amazingly beautiful! The location, across from "The Met and Central Park," is spectacular! I love every room, every outdoor space and every level of it! The architecture design was; extraordinarily done! And yes, this building could never be designed today, for the amount of money that was spent, back then. Today, it would be a "King's Ransom!"
this is so exquisitely elegant & perfect whoever buys it needs to preserve absolutely everything
Now this is New York living! What a beautifully preserved home this is from the 30’s! Unfortunately, I can not afford something like that but I hope whoever does buy it that they don’t paint over the beautiful woodwork and fixtures!
Beautiful, I wouldn't change a thing!
wow, this apartment is stunning! I pray whoever buys this restores and honors the history of the place. Gutting an apartment like this would be criminal!
Anyone who even thinks of gitting this place should just be told to buy another property on the skyscrapers on 57th street.
It's beautiful just the way it is......I love it.
Oh my goodness! There is very little I would change. So much history!
An Incredibly Beauuutiful Place!💕
Such an elegant presentation to a jewel of a listing. Superb
NOW THAT is a penthouse I’d buy in Manhattan (if I could 😭)
I wouldn't change a thing. Beautiful home.
Who in the heck would want to Destroy a Historical - Gorgeous Penthouse - SMH. Even though I am an Industrial Designer who loves Modernist & Mid Century Modern, I would not even dare destroy this gem!
Well done Ryan ! I love the montage !
Dream penthouse!
Cheers from San Diego California
Your passion for beautiful amenities is so refreshing and your details is what makes this real to us. Thanks for a great video.
DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ONLY A PHILLISTINE WOULD BE SO OBSESSED ABOUT CHANGING THIS BEAUTIFUL PLACE,
Stunning architecture and location. Large, but cozy. I'd change very little of this gem ! It really is a work of art !
GORGEOUS💙
What a MASTERPIECE🏆
I wouldn’t change a thing. I love it. Hope whoever buys this appreciates it as is.
I wouldn't change a thing. Simply beautiful!
When I was a stockbroker, in the 1980s, I had a suit that looks (with the exception of the lapel width, sleeve and pants length, and I wore a belt) just like the one you are wearing in this video. As a matter of fact, I looked in my closet where I have my old suits and found it in the back of the closet. I think that I paid about $500 for the suit which is about $1797 in 2022 dollars. It's nice to see that great taste never goes out of style.
Oh, and the penthouse is beautiful.
Love the mezuzot in the door posts :)
Beautiful, beautiful apartment in an insane location. Wouldn't focus on things like that elephant tusk, though. That's f*cked up and not to be encouraged/glamorized.
So stunning! Thank you for the beautiful tour👍🏻
Simply breathtaking, it’s like stepping back in a lost time! Really wonder what old money couple owns this place
Tell us!!
Some day I'll live in a penthouse just like that one
Stunning. Years of memories in that home. Would keep most of it just as it is. Adore it.
Gutting that place would be a crime. It’s fabulous.
Spectacular! I would not change anything it's incredible with such artistic original details and layout, absolutely beautiful!
This is in Gossip Girl season 1
I shudder to think how much that is. A time capsule absolutely gorgeous I wouldn’t change a thing, except take the shades off of the chandelier in the dining-room
This is just BEEEE-YOND!!!!! FABULOUS!!!
You just got a new enthousiaste subscriber!
Great presentation.
Great job.
Lots of character in this one. Love its location too.
Spectacular! If I had the money I would have already purchased it. What a cozy and sweet home.
Elegant, Timeless and breathtaking
“This might remove the gray from my hair. “. 🤣😂🤣😂.
Best. Line. Ever!
Re-Sending this 'Beauty of Extinction' (One of Our Brands) to Nusret. Thank You❤Ryan, each time this Penthouse makes me want to nudge Nusret even more to purchase so we can move-in Immediately. I'll stay-in-touch!
as I drool over this place lol. Will say as the first ever Serhant video ive ever watched I love it already. I love the idea of being sold this dream with this apartment, I love that its very personable to the veiwer and you show the details. I wish more 'realtor' you tube channels were like this.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Although I could never afford the apt, I like the way you narrate your sales units
Phenomenal workmanship!
I would take a very mature person to fully appreciate the very charming aesthetics of this apartment. Most modern eyes would treat it a tear down and completely modernize it.
You are amazing at this tour!!!!!!!! And this is so magical but you are gifted and selling it and keeping the viewer sooooo engaged!!!!!!
One of the most relaxing house tour 😌
I wouldn’t change a thing in this lovely home. I love older buildings and classic interiors but then I was brought up in an old home. I live in Wiltshire, England in an 800 year old manor house with towers, parapets, a main hall, massive library and a grand staircase that was once one of King Henry VIII country homes and hunting “lodge”. It comes complete with a moat around it (where you’ll find swans and other beautiful water fowl) and a huge walled garden. It’s been in the family since the 1950’s. So yes, I do love classic buildings and interiors. If I lived in a city this would be the type of apartment I’d want.
the remodel literally broker my heart in two
Beautiful just the way it is now!!
Just beautiful as is! Hopefully the person who buys it appreciates its perfection! Just wow! Or ay pos guau!
I love it just the way it is. Absolutely gorgeous!
I agree, Aaron. It's mind-boggling!
Stunning, a dream world. Thanks, Ryan!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I thank you for your videos! I love the opportunity to see these opulent houses inside! You brighten my day with your positive energy!❤
I’m ready to move in ! I love all the little details this home has to offer. I wouldn’t dream of changing it
That other building with the rooftop garden is where my interest is drawn to…..looks incredible!
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL and GORGEOUS!!!
❤
very special , very unique and incredible ⭐ penthouse 💙
“this is the biggest commercial vent ive ever seen in an apartment on 5th Avenue. i mean like this might remove the grey from my hair❣️ love it!!!
I really appreciate you don’t just zoom through the place in 30 seconds and ask what we think ,what a great tour you do !new subscriber I realize most people fortunate enough to buy this masterpiece, will remodel .I know I would get rid of the Ivory Fireplace no no no .. and the Walls in the bathroom , No on the carpets but yes I will move in today My Scottish Terrier would like all the terraces.we could throw the ball all the way around What Fun
Thats heritage, i would be surprised if the owner sold this to anyone. they would probably have a checklist for the prospective buyer
It is a co-op, very hard to get in, which is good, for the preservation of the property.
Elegant, sophisticated, and a beautiful home! Thanks, for sharing!
Now that is a magnificent residence. Gorgeous, the only thing I would change are the dark wall colours in one of the primary bedrooms. Why on earth do people like those modern bland apartments.
3 Words I'm in 💘 Love
this is the perfect balance of classic luxury, feels elegant but not tacky. would redo some of the bathrooms and the kitchen though.
also shout out to whoever chose the music... it perfectly complements this old-money aesthetic, almost giving me illusion that I've lived it
Old world glam at its best!
Oh I would just cry if someone gutted this place. What a work of art this whole place is. The only thing I saw that I might change is some counter around the range, or maybe paint in the bathroom - all that gilded trim is a bit much for me. But just paint.
As long as the new buyer isn't some new-money garish person(s) ever buys it it'll be fine.
*this is giving 'MEET JOE BLACK' penthouse vibez!!!* 🏢💎🍯🗽💀
Super gorgeous wow
Also the tour guide is even more gorgeous 😉 hey so I said it lol
Perfectly gorgeous..😍
everything about this was good
Make my dream come true
