Me&my twin brother were born in 1973, My dad took me and my twin brother between the ages of 7 and 10. I'm 50 now. just went there and visited only in the parking lot. July 11th, 2022, on our way home from Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg Tennessee. It brought back so many memories😊 my dad passed in 1998🙏 & this is a memory I will never forget our trip to Ghost Town Maggie Valley in the sky I remember being scared of the gun show and chair lift. Me and my brother left with feathered hats. Indian drums and cap guns. Y'all take care, ps. Love the video👍🏻
I went as a kid as well as a young adult. Place was amazing. It breaks my heart to see all the destruction people cause. It's part of my history and many more like me. Thank you for sharing
I went to Ghost Town in the Sky a few times as a child in the 70's.
I am 63 years old,
& I'm from North Carolina.
I love reading the comments from people who went when it was open back then.
@@thedankteamexplores yeah, it was a fun little Amusement park.
I miss it.
It's a shame it was deserted like that.
They say it has a curse on it.
I visited Ghost town in 1984 as a kid than again in the mid 90s with my kids.. sad to see it this way. someone will bring it back.....Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching !! consider subscribing for more exploring videos.
We stopped at Ghost Town in 2001 on the way home from our honeymoon. It was really fun. We rode the lift up, there were shoot outs in the middle of town, cowboys and dancing girls roaming around and tons of games and food. My grandparents also took us as kids, it was lots of fun. Many of us that still live near there wish it would open again.
Went here with family. Came up from Florida. I was about 15 years old. 53 years old now.
This is so cool my husband went there as a child. I have pictures of him there. Thanks for sharing. It's so sad to see it like that.

I remember going here growing up in the 80s and went again for my dad's 50th birthday when it reopened in 2014. Going back in 2014 almost felt like a reunion of sorts because it had been so long since we went there as a family when I was young. Awesome memories of a simple time at an entertaining and unique place.
Thank you for chiming in, we would have loved to see this place while it was still in operation.
I was there in the 70's as a kid.
I just explored the bottom of the hill area last week. Just got pics. I didn't have the courage to climb the mountain to where you did!
It wasn't an easy climb that's for sure hah, thanks for watching
Went there in the 80s and 90s every summer. Would love to go exploring it now.
I only went here once. The only souvenir i have is a picture of me and my brother on the chairlift. I was around 9 or 12 then i think, im 33 now. Its so sad to see it in the state its in now, all the gift items just left behind, they should have been dontated, or sold. Glad to see Ghost Town hasn't been completely forgotten.
Went there in the 70's as a young child. I loved all the stores and exhibits they had. The sky lift going up the mountain was so cool and looking back so unsafe even back then.
Yeah, Imagine climbing that hill the lifts were going up.... lol Thanks for watching
Im happy to see visit videos like this, but its also bad for the evil in the world, what i mean is, ive watched other people's videos, and things that were in that video is missing in others, things that weren't broken are now broken, things that were in one video, are destroyed, or stolen. It pisses me off, people have no respect and vandalize stuff, like the pharmacy, half of those medicines were gone, or broken in this video, but in another video they were all there, that coffin with the mirror was attached to the coffin, but someone who had no respect destroyed it, and broke it off. Ghost Town is history, and as someone who's been there, when it was in operation, and then seeing videos where over the years, kids with no life, broke windows, stole, or destroyed stuff for fun....it makes you mad. Much respect to you guys for respecting what was left.
I went several times as a kid but we took my kids there when the park reopened in 2008 we went specifically to ride the roller coaster but when we got there it was not certified to open due to "unknown issues " my kids were so upset they gave is free passes to return to the park once the roller coaster was running. Well we never got to go back and the park closed for the season and never reopened😢
Wow that is interesting, it's too bad you guys never got to ride the coaster. It looked pretty big, and thank you for watching and leaving us a comment.
Coaster was opened then shut down due to more stress cracks found in structure millions spent by elderly woman name Alaska who bought then resold it when skyride failed lightning strike.
Went there in the 70 with my kids, enjoyed the gun fights
great GREAT explore ... now I wanna roadtrip
Loved this!!!!! Amazing!
Thank you!!
Yoooooo, you definitely should have taken souvenirs, all that merch!!!
Back in 1976 my dad visited that park but sadly I never got to go there. Your video is the first one to show it in the warm weather time of the year when the trees and kudzu are growing. If the owner would let people come up there to tour the place they could make money. I also know if they would let someone come and cut down all the trees that have grown up around the rides they could sell that wood for firewood and make some money in the clean up process.
That's interesting, Thanks for watching.
Never been but a friend was one of the gunslingers in the western show in 2008
I went in the 70’s. The gunfight was so real. I rode on that team thing and the ski lift too. Must have gone 4 or 5 times.
Love hearing stories about how it was back when it was open. Thanks for watching, what did you think of the video?
That was awesome guys you look like you had so much fun imagine if that were open🤗 Great find👍😍
It was!
Really cool guys....after the upcoming lawsuit you probably last to see what it was....my guess condos down the road for the property...
Just rode up to to this few weeks ago. Neat looking place. I’d like to get permission and walk up the mountain someday.
You should!
@@thedankteamexplores thank you for responding
I think my 37 yr old son rode that baby roller coaster when we were there when he was little
the water containers are test dummies for the rides....
A friend of mine owned Ghost Town - He has since passed away. We went there in the 1960's as kids and later in the 90's I took my kids to visit. Everyone remembers the gun fight show in the streets. They were very realistic. Today the facility is (guarded) by one of the early gunfighters. He lives in the area and can be seen in the movie Deliverance. Last year the cast of Moonshiners Marc and Digger shot a show segment at Ghost Town. Would love to see the place resurrected but I seriously doubt that will happen. Thanks for the Tour.
What an awesome story, thanks for watching. Place was special and Im happy we got to see it even if it was abandoned. If you liked the video please consider subscribing to the channel for more explores.
Last heard a housing development to take over it. 😐
What is your friend's name who owned Ghost Town???
David Coburn
@@garnerwhite470 I know David well, last time l saw him was in West Palm Beach in 2005. Did he die?
It sucks that it's closed it will be missed
I work up one year it was fun
I remember going there with my parents in 1983 when i was 8 years old. I went back to Maggie Valley a few times in the mid 2000s when Ghost Town was closed the first time. I think it reopened in about 2007 for a short time. It's such a neat little place. What part of New England are you guys from? My wife is from Haverhill, MA. Love your video, by the way!
Thank you for watching, we love getting comments like this from people who went to the park when it was actually open. The whole place was very interesting and there were lots left to see. We are also from MA about 40 mins from Boston.
@thedankteamexplores that's funny because wife always tells people the same thing when they ask her where she's from. She always says "I'm from about 40 minutes north of Boston." 😂I'm glad we found your channel. We love abandoned exploration videos.
Interesting video, and certainly a bit different than other folks' versions. I'm gonna guess you may have gone up in May or thereabouts, when nature and the kudzu take over the area a bit more. Obviously you hiked up the lift path, but did you find it more difficult to traverse because of the growth? I've been trying to talk my non-hiking wife into heading up there but she's not keen on the walk up there. Something I've noticed in your more recent video than some of the other older ones, is the more noticeable level of general vandalism that's apparent. Must be a lot of people going up there. One last question, did you leave your vehicle in the lower parking lot off Soco Road (Rt 19), or did you park somewhere less noticeable and hoof it in?
I went there a couple times as a kid in the early 70s had a different roller coaster it was smaller called the crazy mouse I think . That haunted house was scary back when I was 7, and they had people grab your legs in the dark and pull you to the wall 😂 I actually have a little scar on my arm from the gun fight and the gun powder burned me they gave me a band-aid to put on it and said sorry it happens sometimes
Wow thats wild! thanks for watching
Thank you for mentioning the Crazy Mouse. I thought I had just imagined it.
Went to Ghost Town several times during its heyday in the late 60s/early 70s - long before the coaster. I always thought, though, that there was a Wild Mouse up there at one point because, as I recalled, it was my first coaster. It was memorable because those sharp turns made it look as if you were going to be launched off the mountain. As I recall, the mouse was just above the swings, which were the scariest ride they had. They swung out over the edge of the mountain. In fact, when you were going down the road that goes by the Park on your way to Maggie Valley and Cherokee, all you could see on top of Buck Mountain were those swings.
But finally, I have confirmation that there was a Wild Mouse at one point!
Was there an ok trail up to the top? How long did it take?
One of the most challenging climbs of our lives, I wouldn't suggest trying it these days. This video was made a while ago. Thanks for watching
The Indian show the Gun show the Red Devil the chairlift the train 🚂 man I wish someone would reopen this place so bad
Thanks for watching, this place is in such bad shape I don't ever see it opening back up again unfortunately
Where did you guys park if you dont mind me asking? Im close by and wanna go here but don't wanna get caught
We got dropped off
What yr did u film this
2020
The problem with local law enforcement or security?
I was there in the 90s. It had started going down hill at that point. I got hurt riding the red devil. The force from the speed bent me over and my head bounced off my neighbors knee the entire ride. 0/10 do not recommend
Oh Damn! That does not sound like a good time lol. Thanks for watching
You were trespassing on private property & you should have been arrested. I know you saw all those no trespassing signs. I guess you think they don't apply to you.
HAHAHAHAHA FUCKING CRY ABOUT IT
Went there in the middle 70s s wĥen it was in its former glory rode every ride there its a shame to see it like it is now I beleive if i remember the stage she was on is where the can can girls danced i have a picture with them in the 70s
