Surprisingly right now I’m getting lots of white spine cucumbers and Italian striped zucchini. My spaghetti squash has sprawled every where and have at least half a dozen of those sizing up which is exciting since I’ve never grown them before. 👍🏻 My luffa has two big gourds hanging on for dear life from my dill plants at the top of my GreenStalk which is next to it’s trellis. Also a first to grow for me. They’re about 18” now and I’m excited to harvest those later on. My tomatoes are wrapping up, my cowpeas are making little pods and boy they are cover cropping my garden bed because they are thick in there. So lush and green though which is fun considering my pole beans that were there died from heat stress and subsequently spider mite damage. I will plant more of those in August since we don’t usually get frost until Dec 1st here in East Texas. I am determined to grow brassicas successfully this fall. Wish me luck. I got three heads of cauliflower and no broccoli whatsoever. I planted March 1st but I should’ve started them earlier so they could finish growing before June when the heat set in. That’s also true for my potatoes (planted 4/15) which also didn’t do diddly unlike the batch I planted earlier (3/1) which did quite well. 🤷🏻‍♀️Timing is everything and quite the art form here and I have not mastered it yet lol. I want to try those green beans you’re growing! Those look yummy! ☺️

@@Happy2Run4Me sounds like you have a lot of things growing beautifully. I start my broccoli in September and grow it all winter. I’m not sure if that is an option for you. We get about 2-3 frosts but they usually are only for a couple hours overnight. The plants might get a little beat up from it but they normally do fine through it. Maybe consider planting yours before your last frost date when you can guess that you are down to just 1 or 2 more left in the season. Good luck! The green beans are called Thai Soldier beans. I’m in love with them!

I planted a bed of various cow peas and they started producing really well. Then all the leaves turned yellow and fell off, and the stems turned yellow too. It was so very sad. My Seminole pumpkins are growing like crazy. It even went over the 6 foot fence to my neighbor's yard. She pulled it off the ground and hung it back on the fence, and now she has a good sized pumpkin growing. The leaves on mine are bigger than my head, and just going crazy. I only have 5 or so fruits right now, but I am hoping for more. I did make a squash flower soup from 6 or 7 of the (male) flowers, and that was fun. It was really good, I had never had squash flower (or pumpkin flower) before - it was nice having something completely different from our usual stuff. Everything else is limping along. I still am not getting consistent rain...but everyone else a few miles away is getting tons.

Anything that I had growing that produces flowers before fruiting I have already pulled out of my summer Florida garden. At this point, I'm only harvesting pineapples, hot peppers, tons of basil and other herbs. I'm growing sweet potatos, papaya trees, banana trees and blueberry bushes. I'm cleaning out my beds and maintaining the plants I already have and Im growing flowers so I have pollinators for my fall planting season. I'm not having any issues with any bugs or fungus this summer. I can't wait for cooler weather.

My monthly videos include all those details of when to start each plant and then things like special projects, such as when to order your garlic and when to plant it. No idea, first year growing them and thought it was odd after the research I did on them not liking too much water or at least “standing water” we will see.

Now that you say that, I’m now thinking it has something to do with the shade. The last 2 years I grew them in pots in full sun but the ones in my beds get shade half the day. My Roselle is having problems too. Branches breaking off and then two bushes died. Not sure what the issue is because the other two look fine. 🤷

There are lots of spiders because there are lots of insects for them to feed upon. You know, this experiment illustrates that, in truth, we Humans are not really responsible for much of the success of gardening: Nature is doing most of the work. We can assist her at the margins but, even there, we are limited in what we can do.

I use the roselle to make a cranberry tea or cranberry dressing for thanksgiving. It’s even better than real cranberries. I’m addicted. The mixture is 10tbsp to 1 gallon of water
