    All the guys in Lamb of God always come off as just the nicest, politest, and well-spoken guys. I briefly met Mark and Chris at the airport once, and they were the most down-to-earth dudes. Makes me love their music even more. Respect!

      Slipknot is up there for me too but you’re right, these guys are way more passionate about their own gear, I’m sure you’d be more appreciative of this gear after not having access to such luxury early in their career.

    I'm not a fan of Mark Morton's guitar shape but i believe that's what a signature guitar should look like. Something unique and recognisable right away. That cream one was really beautiful. I also like how he uses Duncans and Dimarzios. Those guitars look like they fit anywhere from blues to metal. Damn, now i wanna buy one! 🙂

  • @wolf42i40
    @wolf42i40 Před 2 lety +3

    These dudes are the chillest metal heads I see in most cases. Been a LOG fan for years but since getting past intermediate playing and learning their songs. I have so much respect for their style, heaviness, and humbleness all around. Really motivates me to keep playing!!

    • @drewjohnson4794
      @drewjohnson4794 Před 2 lety

      You got any tips on how to do that? I believe I'm close to being able to play more intermediate stuff but it's inconsistency that's killing me. Some days I can really cook and other days I feel like I can barely play again. It's frustrating.

    • @wolf42i40
      @wolf42i40 Před 2 lety

      @@drewjohnson4794 For me it was looking into economy picking and repeating the patterns of their songs. The way Laid To Rest main riff goes, 11th Hour, and Descending.
      I would say (this is what works for me) is to warm your fingers up by playing a pentatonic pattern on 1 string same frets over and over to get the speed and repetition down (use all 4 fingers too).
      And also just a big rhythm method for their play style. They really work off of very blues/jazzy styles for the beats you play to. Also learning some Megadeth/Pantera riffs easy ones too helps get your hands and brain connected.
      Final advice is once you got the notes down, start playing along to the songs till you hear a match in sound. It sucks but it's possible.

    Seeing the guitar variety is a good way to offer that it s not one pickup or one neck or one set of strings, wood or combination. Its the real artistry of the players together that build great music. 3 thumbs up for giving us the equipment and the players vocal expressions of why or what.

My Dad has the same old MESA/Boogie MKII head that he had built for him by them back in the day, around 1979-1980, and I'd be taking phone calls from the company for him so he could get on the phone with them and say "OK, I need this, this, and this," to them. How awesome is that??

    Wow. A lot of bands are using iso-cabs for FOH. Pretty cool.

    • @JohnSmith-dg9sy
      @JohnSmith-dg9sy Před 9 lety +6

      andrewt248 iso's are great for live shows as they're not affected by a venues sound. Different size rooms give different sounds, one night a set up might sound really boomy and another it might sound thin and weak. Iso cabs cut a lot of that out and gives a really consistent sound

  • @Aaron_LH
    @Aaron_LH Před 11 lety

    Tone is separate from frequency response. For example, if you palm mute closer to the bridge, you will get a deeper more heavy tone out of each chug. If you use a thinner pick you will get more attack as opposed to having a thicker pick which gives you a tighter sound. The actual output of your rig in terms of frequency response isn't affected very much by these factors but it is affected somewhat. Tone is in the hands, frequency response is in the amp/pickups/guitar/cable etc
