Fly fishing for Atlantic salmon - a normal session (Suldalslågen 2021)

This is an unedited 1 houre session of fly fishing for Atlantic salmon in the river Suldalslågen in Norway. I call it a normal session because no fish takes the fly. And in some rivers and pools you can fish like this for days and weeks. Just wanted to show how real fishing looks like. Normaly you dont fish for 5-10 minutes and catch a fish or two, that is unlikely to happen. If you not fish the very best pools, but that would also be expensive.
So its hard work folks. But as long as the line is in the water...
A bit upstream wind this session.
Float skagit head, sink tip and a 14 feet rod.

Thanks. A bit upstream wind, and some parts with slow water so I did cast a bit more 90 degrees on the river. If more speed on the river I would cast more common style, e.g. 45-60 degrees or something. Did catch a salmon last year but not this year yet.
Some people only show when catching salmon, but 99% of the time this is what we are doing when fly fishing for Atlantic salmon. Cast, cast, cast...

Ritland sone 3. Suldalslågen is very fishy, always water because of the river is regulated. I believe it is 40-80 m3/s water flow in the fishing season. And if raining, could be alot more.

Se statistikk på lakseelver.no Helt ok, men kjent for sen elv så august er bra. Bruker mest flyt med synk3 tupp.
